Chapter 8: Hmm, Her Brother Qin Is Really Nice

“Next time, I’ll do it,” Tao Hua nodded, thinking that the meat was indeed cut too big, making it hard to eat.

After taking a few bites of the meat, she started eating her rice.

Earlier, Qin Feng had served the rice, and she hadn’t looked at it closely. Now that she did, she froze.

“What’s wrong?” Qin Feng noticed her reaction and asked.

Tao Hua looked at the rice in her bowl, then glanced at Qin Feng across from her. She lowered her voice and asked, “There are a lot of rice bugs in it. Didn’t you notice when you washed the rice?”

“Not really. I bought it a long time ago. Cooking rice is too troublesome for me. I usually cook sweet potatoes and eat them with meat. I just left the rice here and didn’t bother with it. Do you eat sweet potatoes? I can cook a couple for you.”

“No need!” Tao Hua quickly waved her hand to refuse. “Don’t trouble yourself. I’ll eat whatever you eat.”

She smiled at Qin Feng, then added, “I know that rice bugs are fine once cooked, they won’t upset your stomach.”

Seeing the young girl smile despite looking so uncomfortable, Qin Feng reached out and took her bowl away.

Tao Hua tried to reach for it, but Qin Feng’s movement was too quick, and she awkwardly pulled her hand back.

She wasn’t sure what Qin Feng meant by this, and she started to worry. She was afraid he might think she was too picky and stop giving her food…

To her surprise, Qin Feng was actually helping her pick the rice bugs out of the rice.

He lowered his head, carefully picking them one by one.

Watching Qin Feng like this, Tao Hua suddenly felt like crying.

This man let good rice go to waste, the bedding in the house hadn’t been aired in ages, and the clothes in the wardrobe were all messy. But now, he was so meticulous, helping her pick out the rice bugs.

Even her mother hadn’t shown her this kind of care in a long time. It seemed like Qin Feng really treated her well.

Tao Hua lowered her head to nibble on the rabbit leg, thinking to herself that she had to be good to this man!

After dinner, Tao Hua washed the dishes and tidied up the kitchen, while Qin Feng went outside to chop firewood.

In the past, he had only eaten alone and often wasn’t home, so he rarely needed to light a fire.

Now, things were different. He had a wife, and three meals a day needed to be cooked. He had to keep a good stock of firewood at home.

As he chopped wood, Tao Hua followed him to pick up the wood. Without realizing it, the whole afternoon passed by like this.

The evening soon arrived.

Since they had both worked up a sweat during the day, they needed to wash up before bed. Especially since Tao Hua was on her period, she needed to clean herself thoroughly.

The kettle at home is small, and it hardly holds much water.

Peach Blossom decided to give the hot water to Qin Feng first and then boil another pot for herself later.

But Qin Feng disagreed, and Peach Blossom couldn’t argue with him, so she washed first.

She was especially careful while washing because she hadn’t forgotten that tonight was her wedding night.

When she opened the door to pour out the water, Qin Feng was standing outside, guarding the door for her.

Her heart warmed, and she stole a glance at Qin Feng before saying, “I’m done washing, I’ll go back to sleep now.”

Qin Feng murmured in response.

Peach Blossom thought for a moment, then gathered her courage and added, “I’ll wait for you.”

With that, she quickly ran back to the room.

Qin Feng looked at the petite figure of the young girl and, after a thoughtful pause, couldn’t help but smile.

After all these years, there was finally someone at home waiting for him.

Peach Blossom took the initiative to lie on the side of the bed, wrapping herself tightly in the blanket, leaving only her head exposed.

She stared at the beam, feeling flustered inside.

She didn’t know what to do next. If she followed what Sun Xiaolan had taught her, she felt she wouldn’t be able to do it anyway. It would be too embarrassing.

But Xiaolan wasn’t wrong; on the wedding night, the couple had to share the bridal bed. If they didn’t, what kind of marriage would it be?

She thought again of what Sun Xiaolan had said—that men are warm, especially in certain places. She also said that men are usually the ones to take the initiative, and if she felt too shy on the first night, she should just wait.

But Peach Blossom waited and waited, and by the time her flushed face had returned to its normal temperature, the man beside her still didn’t make a move.

Peach Blossom bit her lip, growing anxious.

They were lying on the same bed. Could it be that he didn’t want to be with her as husband and wife?
