Chapter 58: The Net Can Be Closed
So, she thought back for a while, getting her thoughts together. Then, she picked up a piece of paper and a pen and began sketching the appearance of Uncle Ming’s younger brother.
She drew carefully, not daring to be careless, afraid of making it look unlike.
But the truth was, the appearance of the driver who had taken her to safety had already become blurry in her memory.
The most vivid memory of that day was the desperate fire, the flames reaching for the sky, a sight that haunted her nights.
It took Banxia a full half hour to finish the portrait. She made adjustments, truly putting in all her effort.
Holding the drawing, whether looking at it from afar or up close, it bore some resemblance. Well, it’s the best she could do. Hopefully, it would lead to finding him.
Just as she was about to send a message to Zhan Jingting, who was overseas, the phone beside her rang. It was him calling.
Banxia was taken aback, a slight smile playing on her lips. She quickly answered, “Hello.” Her voice was calm, hiding all her emotions, but in reality, she was very happy.
The overseas Young Mater Zhan had just heard from Mu Bo that she had seen news about a plane crash yesterday and was particularly worried about him.
The words “particularly worried” brought an unprecedented warmth to Zhan Jingting’s heart.
“What are you doing?” the man’s low, magnetic, and gentle voice came from the other end of the phone.
These five words had another meaning – I miss you.
Banxia held the phone in one hand and the newly finished drawing in the other. She admired it and replied, “I just finished drawing a portrait of Uncle Ming’s younger brother. I need you to help me find him.”
“That ‘please’ feels so distant.” He was not joking.
Banxia raised an eyebrow, “…” She didn’t know how to respond for a moment.
“Send it to me.” He said, then asked, “Did you like the gift I sent you last night?” He hadn’t even sent a message.
“I was very touched.” Banxia didn’t hide her inner thoughts, “I didn’t expect my husband to be so efficient! It seems like I’ll need your help a lot with the revenge plan.”
“Let Yang Yiming’s matter rest for now.” He seemed a little worried about her, “I’ll deal with it when I get back. If he wants to pretend to be sick, let him be sick.”
“Okay.” She agreed verbally, but already had a plan in mind.
Young Mater Zhan had seen the news about Jiang’s Group today. He reminded her, “How are the kids doing lately? I’m not home, you need to pay more attention to their activities.”
“Okay.”
Zhan Jingting didn’t say much else, just gave a few simple instructions, “I’ll be back tomorrow.” Then he hung up the phone.
But Lin Banxia was a clever woman. She replayed the conversation in her mind. His focus was on… the children?
So, did these two highly intelligent children do something?
She didn’t think too much about it. She sent him the newly finished portrait, and he quickly replied: Received.
It wasn’t until the afternoon that Banxia saw news about Jiang’s Group being hacked. Of course, it was just a rumor, not an official statement from the company.
But the online forums and Weibo had exploded.
His competitor had partnered with Jiang’s business partners, successfully kicking Jiang’s Group out of the game, resulting in a loss of over 100 million. The internet was abuzz with speculation.
Many worried that Jiang’s had offended some big shot and would be brought down.
Banxia immediately thought of the call from Zhan. It was highly likely that her children were behind this!
So, at five o’clock in the afternoon, the children were just being picked up from school and brought home. The two little ones had just stepped into the living room –
“Mommy!!”
“Brother and I both got praised by our teacher today!”
The two little guys’ good mood was definitely not just about getting praised by their teacher. Lin Banxia knew them too well.
“Come with me.” Banxia’s face wasn’t very serious, but she wasn’t as relaxed and calm as usual.
Looking at their mother’s back as she walked towards the study, the two little ones exchanged confused glances, both realizing something.
Carrying their small backpacks, they bravely followed.
In the study, Lin Banxia sat down in a chair. She looked up at the two brothers who had just entered, and Mo Mo turned to close the door.
“Mommy…” An An called softly, then looked at her brother, seemingly a little afraid.
Mo Mo, with his father’s handsome eyebrows, raised them slightly. He took his sister’s hand and led her towards their mother. “…”
“Tell me, what did you do?” Banxia’s gaze fell on her eldest son, because he was a hacking expert.
Mo Mo knew he couldn’t escape his mother’s eyes, but he was very confused. Shouldn’t… shouldn’t Mommy be happy?
That Jiang Qianxue had bullied her the day before yesterday!
Banxia remained silent, waiting for her son’s reply. Mo Mo also knew that the internet was already in an uproar.
“Mommy.” Mo Mo stepped forward and took her hand, filled with righteous indignation. “You don’t know what happened yesterday morning. Jiang Tianxiang brought his daughter, the one in the wheelchair…”
“So why did you punish him so lightly?” Banxia interrupted with a smile, pulling the children into her arms. “Next time you do something like this, tell Mommy first, so Mommy can be happy with you!”
Mo Mo and An An were slightly stunned. They looked up from their mother’s embrace and both smiled brightly. “Okay!”
A few hours later, under the hazy night sky, Lin Banxia stood in front of a window in a high-rise building, her gaze piercing through the city’s neon lights.
She recalled her life six years ago, every moment of betrayal etched in her heart like sharp blades.
Soon, a phone call came in. She answered it and held the phone gently to her ear.
“Boss, I’ve brought him.” The subordinate reported.
“Good.”
She hung up the phone and turned to leave.
In a private room of a high-end restaurant, Yang Yiming sat by the window, surrounded by heavily armed guards. He was trapped. Soon, Banxia appeared at the door, and father and daughter met eyes.
Facing her former relative, now her enemy, Lin Banxia’s eyes were filled with a chilling silence.
Was it her?
Yang Yiming hadn’t expected it, but on second thought, it made sense. She was now War’s wife, with plenty of resources.
Yang Yiming looked away, a self-deprecating smile playing on his lips.
“I never thought we’d have the opportunity to sit together like this,” Banxia said softly, taking a seat opposite him.
Soon, waiters began to serve the food, dish after dish being brought out: almond fish, steamed crab, French foie gras, amber peach kernels, premium sea cucumber…
The standard was high, and it was all expensive.
Yang Yiming smiled slightly, masking his inner vigilance. “Yes, time changes, who could have predicted this? You’re still alive, that’s good. I’m happy for you.”
“Shameless.” Banxia rolled her eyes at him, elegantly raising her wine glass, her gaze like cold stars: “You and Xie Yue conspired, carrying the weight of so many lives on your shoulders. Aren’t you afraid of retribution?”
The man remained calm. “I don’t understand what you’re talking about. Don’t spread rumors without evidence.”
“Did your father and mother not treat you well?” Lin Banxia looked at him with disappointment. This man, he was once the father she loved so much.
She hadn’t expected that, even now, he still had no remorse. He ignored her words, and he had no guilt towards his daughter.
The air was thick with tension and subtle tension.
Banxia’s mind, like chess pieces on a board, was meticulously planned. Since he was this way, she didn’t need to hold back.
“You know Xiao Ling, right? Xie Yueru’s niece, the survivor of the fire.” A hint of triumph flashed in the girl’s eyes.
Yang Yiming suddenly stood up. “I don’t have time to waste with you here! If you have guts, have the police arrest me!” He walked towards the door, but was stopped.
Banxia watched his back for a long time, then gestured, and her men let him go.
Watching her father’s departing figure, she felt she could finally close the net. This familial bond, she would pretend it never existed.
