Chapter 6: You Two Are Not a Suitable
The usually smooth and charismatic CEO, Jian, was unusually flustered.
In the same business circle in Beijing, Jian Ning was no stranger to Gu Zhiyan, the crown prince of the Gu family.
She quickly reviewed her past twenty years and was absolutely certain that the Jian family and the Gu family had no connection whatsoever.
Before Jian Yao could introduce them, Gu Zhiyan took the initiative, extending his well-defined hand politely, “Hello, Sister Ning. I’m Gu Zhiyan. You can call me Zhiyan.”
Jian Ning: “?”
What the heck???
Could it be that Gu Zhiyan was also adopted by the Gu family? Was his true identity actually her parents’ son? Twins born together?
Jian Ning’s suspicious gaze lingered between Gu Zhiyan and Jian Yao. They didn’t look alike at all!
Jian Yao hadn’t expected Gu Zhiyan, who seemed quite reserved, to be so straightforward.
Seeing her sister’s bewildered expression, she quickly stepped forward, blushing as she explained, “Sister, I’m getting engaged to him. He’ll be my fiancĂ© from now on.”
Jian Ning: “???”
Jian Ning felt like she was desperate for her sister to break up with that dog, Lu Chengze, and had gone crazy.
She must still be dreaming, writing a revenge script for Jian Yao.
Being abandoned before the engagement, turning to a big shot in the Beijing circle, punching the white lotus, kicking the deadbeat, leading Jian Corporation to the peak of life!
Jian Ning pondered.
The script was fine, but why was it Gu Zhiyan?
She narrowed her eyes and looked Gu Zhiyan up and down. He was known in the circle for being aloof and uninterested in women. Rumor had it he was gay!
If she married him, wouldn’t Jian Yao be a lonely wife?
She was their only child!
Jian Ning abruptly stood up, her expression darker than ink, “Jian Yao, what’s going on?”
How could she be involved with Gu Zhiyan?
How long have they known each other? They’re already getting engaged?
Marrying that jerk, Lu Chengze, was better than being a “same-sex wife” to Gu Zhiyan.
She could handle the Lu family, but not Gu Zhiyan. If she were wronged, she wouldn’t even have a place to cry!
Her wary gaze fell on Gu Zhiyan. She hadn’t noticed before because it was so sudden, but now she saw a cut on his lip, clearly a bite mark.
Looking at Jian Yao’s clothes, it was still the same dress from yesterday. The delicate silk fabric, after a night, had some wrinkles.
Jian Ning felt her vision go dark, her voice devoid of any fluctuation, “Tell me, what’s going on?”
She was so obsessed with Lu Chengze before, and suddenly changed her mind.
She’s grown up!
She managed to bring the heart and soul of the Gu family home!
Gu Zhiyan!
The most favored young master of the Gu family, with outstanding academic achievements, countless competition medals, starting his own business in college, and successfully listing his company within a few years after graduation, worth hundreds of millions.
At the age of twenty, he had already achieved what most people could only dream of in their lifetime.
If there was one flaw to be found in him, it was probably his suspected preference for men.
Whether it was family background, appearance, or personal ability, Gu Zhiyan was leagues ahead of Lu Chengze.
How could someone like him be involved with her silly sister?
Jian Ning had always looked down on Lu Chengze. Jian Yao thought she would be happy to know about her relationship with Gu Zhiyan, but she didn’t expect this reaction.
Even though she had decided to let go, her voice was still a little choked when she mentioned him, but her tone was firm.
“Lu Chengze went to find Liu Yiyi, he won’t even come back for the engagement party…”
Jian Yao looked up, her inky black hair brushing against her delicate neck, fragile yet resilient. “Sister, I can’t let the Jian family be disgraced.”
She could suffer, but she couldn’t be selfish and let the whole Jian family be humiliated because of her.
The news of the engagement had already been spread, and the engagement party had to be held, but the person had to be changed.
She bit the soft flesh on her cheek, speaking softly, “So, he doesn’t need to attend the engagement ceremony in three days, I’m going to change the person.”
Jian Ning’s face was wooden: “I don’t agree.”
“You and him are not a good match.”
Jian Yao: “Where are we not a good match?”
It’s because of her social death!
It’s a perfect match.
Jian Ning: “…”
She couldn’t say in front of Gu Zhiyan that he was not a good match because he liked men, could she?
Gu Zhiyan’s smile faded, returning to his cool and noble demeanor. “I can understand the Jian family’s concerns.”
He turned to look at Jian Yao, who was standing beside him with her head lowered, as if a primary school student was facing the wall in punishment, and pondered for a few seconds. “Sister Ning, we can sign a prenuptial agreement.”
He called her Sister Ning without any psychological burden, and Jian Ning looked at him as if she were looking at the ninth wonder of the world.
There’s something dirty!
There must be something dirty!
How could he use such a cold and domineering demeanor to keep calling her Sister Ning?
Jian Ning quietly touched the goosebumps that had risen on her arms, and smiled coldly. “What prenuptial agreement?”
Could it be that her sister was risking being a same-sex wife and getting nothing in return?
Hah!
Men!
“I can guarantee that during the marriage, if I do anything wrong to her, I will leave with nothing. If she changes her mind during this period and wants to divorce, I will give her half of my income and Yao Guang shares.”
Jian Yao, who had been bowing her head, instantly looked up and stared at Gu Zhiyan with wide eyes.
Because of the height difference, she could only see his sharp jawline from her angle.
But even so, she could still tell that Gu Zhiyan was serious.
But weren’t they cooperating?
Jian Ning was also stunned, and finally looked up to seriously examine Gu Zhiyan.
“Are you serious?”
Compared to those intangible things like love, Jian Ning believed in a saying: Where a person’s money is, their heart is.
If Gu Zhiyan could keep his word, and Jian Yao was willing, she could seriously consider it.
Gu Zhiyan raised his hand, and the assistant outside the door immediately responded, “Mr. Gu, please wait, the lawyer is already drafting it.”
Jian Yao subconsciously wanted to explain, but Gu Zhiyan calmed her down with his eyes.
By the time they finished signing the contract, it was already noon. After a morning of getting to know each other, Jian Ning’s impression of Gu Zhiyan had improved a lot, and she generously invited the two of them to have lunch at the old house.
After the initial shock and bewilderment, Jian Ning had to accept the fact that her sister had suddenly “seen the light.”
Putting aside her doubts about Gu Zhiyan’s orientation, Jian Ning was happy to see Jian Yao turn over a new leaf and not cling to Lu Chengze.
While they were waiting for lunch, Jian Ning instructed her secretary Li, “Since the person getting engaged has changed, the dress needs to be changed too, have them send over all the latest designs of the season, and we’ll choose again!”
“After the list from the Gu family is sent over, immediately write the invitations and send them out one by one.”
Jian Ning held the procedure list and checked each item, making sure there were no omissions before handing it to Secretary Li. “Also, have someone send over some firecrackers and fireworks, to get rid of the bad luck.”
Secretary Li noted down Jian Ning’s instructions and glanced at Jian Yao who was sitting next to Gu Zhiyan in the distance.
“What about the Lu family?”
