Chapter 66: A Small Mistake That Brought Him Down
She still didn’t know who those people were, but they seemed very powerful.
Lu Chengze stood there expressionlessly, as if he had become numb.
The room was silent for a while before Lu Chengze finally spoke slowly, his voice devoid of any emotion.
“Leave. Pack your things and leave now. I don’t want to see you anywhere ever again.”
Liu Yiyi stumbled, looking up at Lu Chengze in disbelief. “Brother Lu, I know I was wrong. I really know I was wrong. Please give me another chance.”
She knew her limitations. Over the years, Lu Chengze had spoiled her. Outside of Lu Corporation, she wouldn’t know how to survive.
She took a step forward, habitually reaching out to grab Lu Chengze’s sleeve, her eyes filled with tears. “Lu Gege, I’ve been with you for so many years. Are you going to drive me away just because of this little mistake?”
Lu Chengze took a half step back, avoiding her outstretched hand. He suddenly laughed.
When a person is speechless to the point of exhaustion, they really want to laugh.
A small mistake?
What a small mistake that brought him down!
Lu Chengze tilted his head back, took a deep breath, and almost used all his lifelong upbringing to resist the urge to slap her.
“Leave now. I won’t take back anything I’ve given you before. I’ll have Assistant Lin transfer the house and car to you.”
A flash of darkness flickered in Liu Yiyi’s downcast eyes as she calculated.
Over the years, Lu Chengze had indeed given her many good things. Leaving now, selling the house and car she had, would be enough for her to live a carefree life in a small city.
But…
Liu Yiyi looked at the watch on Lu Chengze’s wrist.
A million-dollar Patek Philippe…
And this was just a daily watch from Lu Chengze’s drawer.
She had already experienced the extravagant wealth of high society. How could she possibly be willing to shrink back to the bottom?
Moreover, she still had her bottomless parents…
After weighing the pros and cons, Liu Yiyi decided to gamble again.
She squeezed out a few tears, looking at Lu Chengze with affectionate eyes.
“Lu Gege, I’ve been by your side for so many years. Don’t you really understand my feelings?”
“I just like you. I don’t care about the things you give me. I can ask for nothing. Please don’t drive me away.”
Thinking about the life she would have after being kicked out of Lu Corporation, Liu Yiyi finally cried with some genuine emotion.
Lu Chengze looked silently at the “heartbroken” Liu Yiyi.
From head to toe, none of her clothes, jewelry, or bags were something she could afford with her meager salary.
Although he had used Liu Yiyi over the years, he had never treated her poorly. Just driving her away after she had caused such a big mess, Lu Chengze felt he had done everything he could.
Unfortunately, people are insatiable!
He mockedly curled his lips and spoke lightly. “Since you don’t care about the things I give you, then return the car and house I gave you before you leave.”
After he finished speaking, he didn’t look at Liu Yiyi again. He directly instructed Assistant Lin, “Take her out. Give her three days to move.”
Liu Yiyi: ???
Liu Yiyi stopped crying, looking at Lu Chengze in astonishment.
Hearing Lu Chengze’s words, Assistant Lin almost instantly transformed from a state of living death to an exaggerated smile.
He held the tea tray in his hand and made a gesture of invitation, as enthusiastic as a restaurant waiter. “Secretary Liu.”
“Oh no, Ms. Liu, please!”
Liu Yiyi’s lips moved a few times, wanting to say something, but Assistant Lin didn’t give her any chance to speak. He pulled her out of the office.
When the office was quiet again, Lu Chengze went to the small kitchen that was separately partitioned in the rest room.
All the kitchen utensils were neatly arranged, but the person who had been busy in it was gone.
He took out a cigarette, lit it, and took a deep drag. The dopamine released by the nicotine eased the tension in his furrowed brows.
If she knew that Liu Yiyi was gone, she would be happy, wouldn’t she?
In the Gu family’s old mansion.
Jian Yao came out of her room with the allowance that Old Mrs. Gu had secretly given her.
Seeing that Gu Zhiyan wasn’t there, she asked the servants about the room prepared for her and went upstairs alone.
The door wasn’t locked, so Jian Yao opened it directly.
The room was large, and the dark-colored decor made Jian Yao frown in confusion.
Although it was grand, it felt a bit like a boy’s room?
Jian Yao walked a few steps inside, unsure, and saw a dressing table that didn’t quite match the room’s decor. It was filled with new skincare products and gift boxes she had received in the afternoon, putting her mind at ease.
She hadn’t gone to the wrong room.
She turned around to close the door, carefully putting the bank card her grandmother had given her in a box.
Before she could stand up, she suddenly heard a faint sound from inside the room.
She turned her head around in confusion, looking around. Finally, her gaze fell on the bathroom door.
Was that the sound of water?
Was there someone else in this room?
Jian Yao’s heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively wanted to run towards the door. But as she took a step, she remembered that she was no longer living alone, she was in the old mansion.
With the security measures in place at the old mansion, it was highly unlikely that a thief would break in.
Besides, no thief would be stupid enough to leave a pile of jewelry and checks outside and go play with the faucet in the bathroom.
Reassured, Jian Yao’s rationality finally returned.
The only person who could be in her room at this time, besides Gu Zhiyan, was impossible.
To confirm her guess, Jian Yao took a few steps forward, walked to the bathroom door, and asked tentatively.
“Gu Zhiyan?”
The man’s deep voice, mixed with the sound of water from the bathroom, came through the door, feeling a little bit sultry.
“Yeah, it’s me, I’ll be right out.”
The magnetic, husky voice entered her ears, and Jian Yao clutched her phone, her nervous ending trembling, “Take your time, no rush.”
She was just confirming, she didn’t mean to rush him.
In the bathroom, Gu Zhiyan turned off the shower and reached for the pajamas he had prepared beforehand.
Just as he was about to put them on, he suddenly remembered the lessons Pei Yi had given him, and a dark glint flashed in his cold eyes.
He silently put the prepared pajamas away in the highest storage cabinet and picked up the bathrobe hanging nearby.
Jian Yao, who was at the bathroom door, was still immersed in the dilemma of only having one bed and how she and Gu Zhiyan would sleep together.
When she came back to her senses, she realized that the sound of water from the bathroom had stopped at some point.
And she was still standing there like a log.
Like a pervert listening to someone taking a shower…
Jian Yao instinctively wanted to escape this “dangerous place”, but as soon as she lifted her foot, the bathroom door in front of her suddenly opened from the inside.
The man was only loosely wrapped in a bathrobe, and Jian Yao could clearly see the glistening water droplets sliding down his neck, collarbone, chest muscles, abs, and disappearing into the towel around his waist.
At such close range, Gu Zhiyan’s unique, refreshing scent, mixed with the steam from the bathroom, hit her face. Perhaps because of the heat, his usually cold eyes were filled with a seductive charm.
Under the dual stimulation of beauty and guilt.
Jian Yao was distracted, and her left foot stepped on air, her body staggered and she fell towards the ground.
