Chapter 4
Before Shi Tingyue’s words fully faded, he had already taken the little girl and walked away.
Looking at their backs, a strange feeling arose that they were a perfect match.
Then he thought it was absurd and shook his head, laughing.
Shi Chengyu brought Shen Chutang back to her previous seat. Xie Tong was happily waiting for her to return, but when she saw Shi Chengyu following, she was so scared she didn’t even dare to eat.
She still remembered how he had tattled on her to her dad, causing her to lose her allowance! All she did was take Shen Chutang to eat some snacks. Why did he need to tattle on her?
He’s so mean! She wanted to scold him, but she was also afraid. Shi Chengyu was too scary when he wasn’t smiling. She didn’t know how Tangtang could stand being with him.
“Xie Tong, why aren’t you eating?” Shen Chutang looked at Xie Tong, who was spacing out, and asked. She pushed the plate of snacks towards her.
“I’m, I’m eating.” Xie Tong hugged the plate and moved to the side. “Tangtang, I think I saw my dad. I’m going now.”
Shen Chutang wanted to laugh. She turned back and glared at Shi Chengyu, whispering a few words in his ear.
Shi Chengyu smiled and stroked her hair, but Shen Chutang glared at him again. “You messed up my hair.”
“My bad, I won’t do it anymore.” Shi Chengyu conceded without any dignity, his voice gentle. He asked, “Do you want to eat anything? I’ll have some fresh ones sent over.”
Shen Chutang shook her head. “No, I can’t eat anymore.”
“Okay, tell me if you’re tired, and we’ll go home early.” Shi Chengyu couldn’t help but gently touch her head.
Shen Chutang resignedly let him touch her. “I know, I know.”
After picking up Shen Yanheng and Shen Sujing, Shen Sichen started looking for Shen Chutang. He saw the white figure and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Hey, you know what, white dresses are really eye-catching.”
“Tang’er!”
Shen Sichen called out when he was a short distance away. Shen Chutang looked up, saw the three people walking over, and happily stood up.
“Big Brother, Second Brother, Third Brother!”
Shen Chutang ran over and immediately rushed into Shen Sujing’s arms. She hadn’t seen him in a long time.
“Okay, okay. You almost knocked me over.”
Shen Sujing joked, patting her back lightly. “Alright, let’s hug at home.”
Shen Chutang let go and hugged Shen Yanheng.
Shi Chengyu also stood up and greeted Shen Yanheng.
Shen Yanheng was holding a woman’s hand. They both nodded and smiled at him. “Chengyu, happy birthday.” Although they were holding hands, they didn’t look like a couple at all.
“Thank you, Big Brother and Big Sister-in-law.” Shi Chengyu smiled faintly, then glanced at Shen Chutang and turned back. “Big Brother, I’ll leave Tangtang with you. I’ll go and get busy.”
“Tang’er, you’re biased! You didn’t even hug me!”
Shen Sichen complained unhappily. He was such a big guy, and he was just ignored like that?
Shen Chutang snorted twice. “I’m not beating you up is good enough! Do you believe me when I tell Big Brother about you making me cry today?”
“Hey, hey, ancestor, stop.” Shen Sichen quickly pulled her into his arms and covered her mouth, but it was too late. Shen Chutang had already finished speaking.
Shen Yanheng had already turned towards them, his gaze cold. “Sicheng?”
“No, no, Big Brother. It’s just that she didn’t eat properly.” Shen Sichen mumbled.
“Second Brother already apologized to you, didn’t he, Tang’er?”
Shen Chutang giggled and nodded. “Yes, Big Brother, I’ve forgiven him.”
Shen Chutang looked at the two of them standing together, finding it very pleasing to the eye. She couldn’t help but compliment, “Big Sister-in-law looks so beautiful today.”
“You’re also beautiful, Tangtang.”
Shen Chutang smiled even brighter. She liked this Big Sister-in-law very much, but the two of them didn’t seem to have any… well… love, yes, love for each other.
“Come on, stop looking. We’re busy today. There are many uncles, aunts, brothers, and sisters to meet.”
Shen Chutang pouted, wanting to cry. “Ah, I don’t want to.”
Shen Sichen put his arm around her shoulder. “You have no choice. Big Brother, I’ll take them over first.”
This kind of large-scale banquet was rare, and it just so happened that everyone was here today. Although Shen Chutang had always been raised at home and never appeared in public, it was time to introduce her to people.
Firstly, so that she wouldn’t be unfamiliar to people at certain events in the future. Secondly, Tangtang was now older and went out more often, so it was necessary to prevent her from making a fool of herself at some events.
With this in mind, Shen Sichen took her to meet almost everyone, even managing to close a few deals along the way.
By the end, Shen Chutang’s face was almost stiff from smiling. It was Shi Chengyu who took her out, rubbing her cheeks with a look of heartache.
“There were so many people, I can’t remember anyone. And I feel like they all look the same, wearing suits and ties. And all those aunts, sisters, they all look the same. I didn’t remember a single one.”
Shen Chutang grumbled unhappily. She had been busy for nothing. Just when she was about to remember the last one, Shen Sichen immediately took her to meet the next one.
Shi Chengyu chuckled and rubbed her face. “It’s not for you to remember them; it’s for them to remember you.”
“Next time you meet them, if you remember, smile and greet them. If you don’t remember, just pretend you didn’t see them.”
“But that’s so rude.” Shen Chutang asked, blinking her dark eyes.
Her eyes were beautiful, with a beautiful shape and dark, shiny pupils. When she looked at people seriously, it was like there was a kind of magic.
Shi Chengyu rubbed her head again, jokingly saying, “Then… when they come to cause trouble, Brother Chengyu will apologize for you.”
Lin Shulang, relying on his strong professional skills, managed to keep his hand on the steering wheel steady. Who in this entire Beijing would dare to make this man apologize?
Shen Chutang realized he was joking and leaned against him, laughing. “Then Brother Chengyu will be very busy. I didn’t remember a single one.”
After saying that, she yawned and rubbed against him.
Perhaps she was really exhausted, her voice was weak. She fell asleep in the car.
Lin Shulang skillfully adjusted the temperature in the car and slowed down.
He recalled the first day he joined Shi Corporation.
He had just graduated from abroad and came to Shi Corporation for an interview. He took written tests, interviews, training, and even his ancestors for three generations were investigated before he was allowed to enter Shi Corporation.
On his first day, Lin Shulang finished his self-introduction. In the large office, only the sound of a pen scratching on paper could be heard. He stood quietly beside, waiting.
He waited for a long time but didn’t hear Shi Chengyu give any instructions. Lin Shulang gathered his courage and asked Shi Chengyu about things he needed to pay attention to at work.
Shi Chengyu stopped writing, thought for a moment, and replied calmly, “You just need to remember that here, the Shen Family Miss comes first.”
Lin Shulang nodded in agreement. After a long time, he didn’t hear him speak again, so he asked, “Then what about second?”
Shi Chengyu seemed startled by his question. He looked up at him in confusion, then said in a deep voice, “There is no second.”
At that moment, Lin Shulang understood. There was no second, and there was no third. There was only first, only the Shen Family Miss.
In the following years, he understood the meaning of those words and the weight of the Shen Family Miss in his heart even more deeply.
That evening, he saw the legendary Shen Family Miss for the first time.
He went to pick up Shen Chutang from school. There was a traffic jam on the way, and he was ten minutes late for school. The car smoothly drove into the school.
Shen Chutang was standing under a tree, her schoolbag leaning against the tree. She was hugging her arms and frowning angrily.
The little princess, raised in luxury, was exquisite from her hair to her toes. Even though she was wearing the most ordinary school uniform, she was still so beautiful that it was hard to look away.
As soon as the car stopped, Shi Chengyu hurriedly got out, bending over to coax her.
That was the first time Lin Shulang saw Shi Chengyu smile. He was so gentle, it was unbelievable. The scene made him want to say, “Young Master hasn’t smiled this happily in a long time.”
But when he realized that he was a top-notch assistant, not a villa manager, he stopped the smile on his face. He just glanced at Shen Chutang, memorized her appearance, and lowered his head.
