Chapter 18
Xie Tong turned back. “Big Sister, why don’t you go be a loudspeaker with a voice like that?”
“Even if you were a loudspeaker, we wouldn’t listen to you.”
The classmates in the class had already looked over. Hearing Xie Tong’s teasing words, someone chuckled softly.
This was the first time Wu Shuyao had been humiliated like this. She was so angry that her face turned red. She took two steps forward and raised her hand to slap Xie Tong.
Shen Chutang quickly pulled Xie Tong, who was still laughing, over. Wu Shuyao missed. She stumbled forward and regained her balance. She raised her hand to slap Shen Chutang again.
Seeing her reach out again, Shen Chutang didn’t hesitate. She slapped her. With a loud “smack,” the entire classroom fell silent.
Wu Shuyao covered her face and asked incredulously, “You hit me? You dare hit me?”
Shen Chutang looked at her coldly, her imposing aura when she was silent was no different from Shi Chengyu’s.
Her entire palm was numb and burning. She didn’t have the strength to hit her a second time. “Don’t hit back, are you waiting for you to hit me?”
“You!” Wu Shuyao yelled angrily, pushing Shen Chutang away and running out.
“Ouch!”
Shen Chutang was caught off guard and pushed back. Her lower back hit the corner of the desk, and the pain made her frown instantly.
“Tangtang, are you okay!” Xie Tong came over to help her up. “How could she do that!”
“I’m fine. I, I need to rest for a bit.”
Her hand hurt, and her waist hurt. Shen Chutang slowly walked back to her seat and sat down. The pain brought tears to her eyes.
But she hadn’t sat for long when a classmate came over and said that the head teacher was calling them to the office.
Slapping a classmate on the first day of school was really bad. Lin Yan couldn’t understand how a girl who looked so quiet and had such good grades could have such a bad temper.
Shen Chutang was in too much pain to argue with him. She listened quietly as he lectured her for ten minutes. When he said he was going to call her parents, she froze.
Big Brother… definitely wouldn’t work. It wouldn’t be appropriate. Second Brother, if Second Brother came, he would probably laugh at her to death. Third Brother was out of town. The only option was Shi Chengyu.
“Shen Chutang, Wu Shuyao has already called her parents. When your parents arrive, apologize to her, and everything will be fine…”
Shen Chutang turned around and pulled Xie Tong out of the office. She didn’t want to listen to him anymore.
“Hey! Your classmate, how can she be so rude…”
“Tangtang, what should we do? My dad will definitely scold me.”
Xie Tong wasn’t afraid of her dad scolding her for causing trouble at school. She was afraid that she had hurt Shen Chutang. If her dad found out, he would probably scold her to death.
Shen Chutang patted her shoulder reassuringly. “It’s okay. You don’t need to call Uncle Xie.”
She took out her phone and dialed a number. The other end picked up quickly. “What’s wrong, Tangtang?”
She hadn’t planned to cry, but when she heard Shi Chengyu’s voice, she became wronged and her voice choked up. “Brother Chengyu, can you come to school?”
“Okay, I’ll be there soon.” Shi Chengyu’s heart instantly panicked when he heard her voice. He comforted her while gesturing to Lin Shulang to suspend the meeting.
Xie Tong wiped her tears. She looked at her swollen palm, feeling both heartache and amusement. “You’ve hurt yourself as much as you’ve hurt your enemy.”
Shen Chutang was amused. She laughed and cried at the same time. This was the first time she had called her parents to school, and she had called Shi Chengyu. She suddenly felt a little embarrassed.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have scolded her. Who knew she was so fragile?”
Xie Tong comforted her. Seeing her crying pitifully, she wanted to laugh.
“You even cried after hitting someone. You’re really something. But how dare you hit her? This is the first time I’ve seen you hit someone.” Xie Tong asked with a smile.
Shen Chutang sobbed and replied, “Who would stand there like a fool and wait to be hit?” Shen Chutang rolled her eyes and said, “My Second Brother told me that there’s no one in this Beijing that I can’t beat.”
Those were definitely the kind of words Shen Sichen would say.
Xie Tong handed her a tissue. “Alright, don’t cry anymore. It’s not embarrassing to be called to the office. I’m used to it.”
“Next time, I’ll do the hitting. You just stand behind me and back me up.”
Xie Tong laughed mischievously, with a bit of a bullying vibe. It made Shen Chutang laugh too. She laughed and cried at the same time.
Shi Chengyu arrived quickly. He arrived in fifteen minutes. The car drove into the school. As soon as it stopped, the school leaders came to greet him.
Shi Chengyu’s face was cold. He walked quickly, taking three steps at a time. When he reached the classroom door, he knocked on it. He saw Shen Chutang sitting in the back row and waved to her.
The class was in session. When they heard the commotion, they all looked towards the door. Seeing Shi Chengyu, Shen Chutang’s eyes welled up with tears again. She sniffed and held back her tears. She got up from her seat and walked out.
Shi Chengyu looked at Shen Chutang, who was full of grievances, and frowned with heartache. He asked softly, “What’s wrong?”
Shen Chutang threw herself into his arms, crying softly.
A group of school leaders rushed over. Seeing this scene, they were stunned. “Mr. Shi, what, what’s going on?”
They didn’t know what was going on, but the fact that she was crying like this on the first day she was sent here was clearly not a good thing. The cicadas outside were chirping non-stop, and the air was hot, but everyone present felt a chill.
“Mr. Shi, there’s a rest room over there. Let’s go rest there first.”
Shi Chengyu lifted her face and wiped her tears. “Good girl, let’s go over there first.” He wanted to hold her hand, but he noticed that her palm was swollen. He was startled for a moment, then took her wrist and walked forward.
Shen Chutang was sobbing, obediently following behind him. She walked slowly. When they reached the rest room, Shi Chengyu cupped her hand and blew on it, asking softly, “Did you hit someone?”
Shen Chutang nodded, crying. “She was going to hit Xie Tong. I pulled Xie Tong away, and she didn’t hit her. Then she was going to hit me, so I hit her first.”
“Hmm, Tangtang is amazing. Are you hurt anywhere else?” Shi Chengyu asked again.
Shen Chutang’s nose was sore. “She pushed me. My waist hit the corner of the desk.”
Shen Chutang carefully leaned to the side and lifted her shirt a little. She couldn’t see, but she knew it hurt. Shi Chengyu saw the bruise and was startled. He frowned tightly.
Lin Shulang knocked on the door and came in with an ice pack. Shi Chengyu put a handkerchief on it and applied it to her hand. “Her waist hit the desk. Go buy some pain relief and swelling medicine.”
“Okay, there’s some in the car. I’ll go get it.” Lin Shulang quickly agreed. As he was about to leave, someone grabbed his arm.
“Assistant Lin, what’s going on in there? What did Mr. Shi say?”
Lin Shulang pulled his arm away, his face wearing a professional smile. “Mr. Shi hasn’t given any instructions yet. Please wait a moment.”
Whenever something happened, Shi Chengyu would always deal with comforting Shen Chutang first, putting everything else on hold.
No instructions meant that Shi Chengyu didn’t have the time right now. He was focused on Shen Chutang. Lin Shulang hurried downstairs to get the medicine and brought it back in. Then he went back out.
