Chapter 59
Shen Chutang lowered her head and shed tears, feeling a little helpless.
“Stop crying.” Shen Sichen awkwardly wiped her tears. “He’s a scumbag. Don’t get close to him anymore. Come back home quickly.”
Shen Chutang said with a crying voice, “He didn’t do anything. I like him, and I kissed him first. Second brother, you can’t say that about him.”
Shen Sichen was stunned. “The person you told me about, the one you like, is Shi Chengyu?”
Shen Chutang nodded.
“I like him. I only like him.”
Shen Sichen narrowed his eyes and said in a deep voice, “How old are you? Do you know what liking someone means? Do you know what it means to like someone? He’s a man. Men are no good, even myself included!”
“I’m almost an adult. I can date.”
Shen Sichen’s voice was filled with anger. “Shen Chutang, you’re eighteen years old, not your mind! You say being an adult is just a matter of time, but what about you?”
“You’re immature now. You can’t tell if you really like him. Besides, you’ve been together for so many years. Can you tell the difference?”
Shen Chutang raised her head stubbornly. “I have my brothers, second brother. I’ve thought about this question a long time ago. I can tell the difference.”
“I don’t like him the way a sister likes a brother. I like him as a person. I want to be with him.”
Shen Sichen felt like he was about to explode. He only thought that Shen Chutang was tricked by that kid Shi Chengyu. Even now, she was still defending him.
“Did he say something to you? He’s as cunning as a black-hearted old fox outside. If he wants to trick you, you won’t be able to tell at all. You’re just too naive.”
Shen Chutang said, “Second brother, he’s never lied to me. I’m not a child anymore. I can tell the difference between true and false feelings. I like him now, and I want to be with him. I will only like him more in the future.”
Shen Sichen looked at Shen Chutang, whose face was full of tears, saying so firmly that she liked someone, that she would be with him no matter what.
For the first time, he started to take her seriously. Yes, Shen Chutang was no longer the little girl who followed them around and asked them to hold her. She had grown up. Her eyes were filled with determination, for a man.
He sighed, his voice a little helpless. “Tangtang, girls always lose out in love. You haven’t experienced it. You think that since you like him now, you should just jump in headfirst, no matter if it’s sweet or bitter. But who knows what will happen in the future?”
Some things don’t have results just because you try hard. You can’t be together just because you like someone. Even love isn’t enough.
“Brother Chengyu won’t let me lose out. He won’t let me suffer.”
When Shen Chutang was stubborn, no one could persuade her. It was the same for the past ten years. Shen Sichen had no other choice but to hug her. “Okay, go to sleep tonight. We’ll talk about the rest tomorrow.”
“Okay.” Shen Chutang replied, then asked, “Second brother, is your hand okay?”
“It’s okay. That kid’s bones are pretty hard.” Shen Sichen snorted. He used to call him Chengyu, Chengyu. Now, he suddenly kissed his own sister, and even his address changed.
Shen Chutang sniffed. “Then remember to apply medicine later.”
“You’re still concerned about me? Your foot doesn’t know how many days it will take to heal. You’ll be crying later when the anesthetic wears off.”
He used to wonder who spoiled Shen Chutang to be so delicate. Now he knew. He just felt annoyed. Someone who couldn’t even stand a little pain, but she actually endured it without screaming.
“If it hurts, call someone. The doctor is waiting downstairs 24 hours a day.”
Shen Chutang nodded and wiped her tears with the back of her hand. “Then you didn’t hit him too hard, did you?”
“Don’t worry, he won’t die. He has to come here to be lectured tomorrow.” Shen Sichen sneered. He dared to touch Shen Chutang. How could this matter be so easily resolved?
Shen Chutang looked up at him in surprise, her eyes still filled with tears. “Second brother, he didn’t do anything wrong…”
Shen Sichen put her on the bed. “You’re still young, but he’s an adult. It’s his fault that he didn’t reject you.”
He had rejected her, but she was still angry and sulking with him at the time. Now, thinking about it, Shen Chutang’s tears were about to fall again.
Shen Sichen used a tissue to wipe her tears. “You don’t like him? Tomorrow will be the first hurdle you two have to face. Are you scared?”
Shen Chutang thought for a while, then shook her head, her expression solemn, as if she was saying she was ready.
Shen Sichen smiled. “Okay, your courage is commendable. Go to sleep first. We’ll talk about anything else tomorrow.”
Shen Sichen just said that. Even if something really happened, the family wouldn’t blame Shen Chutang at all. He just wanted to scare her. He didn’t expect her to be so serious, like she was ready to fight a tough battle.
No matter how late it was, Shen Sichen made one phone call after another, notifying everyone.
Shen Gengli got out of bed in the middle of the night, angrily called Shi Hezhuan, scolded him a few times, and hung up the phone.
Shi Hezhuan was left sighing at the phone. He knew he would be scolded, just not this soon.
Shen Gengli pulled Chen Musheng to the airport and arrived in Beijing in the middle of the night.
Shen Chutang was already asleep. She had been given another injection of anesthetic in the middle of the night, and now she was sleeping soundly. She didn’t know if she was crying when she woke up or crying in her dreams. There were still tear stains on her face.
By the next morning, Shen Yanheng and Shen Sujing had also rushed back.
Shen Chutang’s matter was a huge deal in the Shen family. Shen Sichen didn’t make things sound too serious. He just stated the facts, and the two of them tacitly returned.
As dawn broke, Shi Hezhuan arrived with someone. No matter what Shi Chengyu was like outside, he was still a child who had done wrong and needed his parents to lead him to apologize.
After a night, Shi Chengyu looked even more haggard. The wound on his face hadn’t been treated, and even the bloodstains on the corner of his mouth hadn’t been wiped off.
Shen Sichen thought he was playing the victim, but in reality, Shi Chengyu was scared silly. He hadn’t gone back to the Shi family last night. He had been sitting on a bench outside, staring at the window of Shen Chutang’s room all night.
When Shi Hezhuan called him, he was still sitting there.
“Is Tangtang okay?” Shi Chengyu broke the silence first. Everyone looked at him, but no one spoke.
In the end, it was Chen Musheng who spoke. “She’s fine. She’s still asleep.”
“Okay, okay, you guys don’t need to be like this. Tangtang has grown up. It’s only a matter of time before she has someone she likes. Chengyu isn’t an outsider. It’s better than bringing someone back from outside.”
Shi Hezhuan said, “Yes, that’s true. But it was really Chengyu’s fault. After all, Tangtang is still a little girl. Chengyu should teach her a little.”
“He didn’t do anything wrong. He’s not a criminal. You can’t interrogate him like a criminal.”
Shen Chutang didn’t know when she came out of the elevator. She limped over to Shi Chengyu’s side and took his hand. “I’m not a child anymore. If I did something wrong, just punish me.”
