“How are you feeling? If it gets too tough, you can stop anytime.”
“I’m fine, big brother! No problem at all!”
Since throwing her directly into battle would be too harsh, I made time for practical training sessions with Mayu. I was worried about her mental state, but seeing her now, she seems alright. It’s still unclear how she’ll handle real combat, but I feel reassured seeing her confidence.
The Magicraft that Rafishal prepared for Mayu was the largest I’d ever seen. It was designed to stabilize and control Mayu’s unstable and immense Ludia power. However, its size was so massive that it couldn’t even be stored in the Yamato. Jean looked troubled as he gazed at the colossal Magicraft.
“Still, couldn’t they have made it a bit more manageable? We have to haul it around when moving, and it’s nothing but a nuisance.”
“There’s nothing we can do about it. Rafishal explained the size issue before it was made.”
“Yeah, but I didn’t expect it to be this huge…”
Mayu’s Magicraft, named Alvion, was a mass of metal several dozen times heavier than a regular Magicraft. But it wasn’t just its size that made it remarkable. Its maximum output was also dozens of times higher than usual, and its special armor was said to be strong enough to withstand even the Yamato’s main cannon. Additionally, it was equipped with cannons comparable in power to the Four Element Cannons and could hover like the Ride Carrier, making it an extraordinary piece of machinery.
“Mayu, how about firing the main cannon once?”
When I casually suggested this, Jean immediately panicked and stopped me.
“Are you insane?! We’re already inside enemy territory! The Alice Abbey fortress isn’t fortified yet; don’t provoke the enemy!”
“But isn’t it dangerous not to know its power until we use it in actual combat?”
“Just knowing it’s comparable to the Four Element Cannons is enough. Mayu, don’t fire the main cannon until I give you permission.”
“Okay, I won’t. But if my brother says to fire it, I might just do it.”
Such an obedient little sister. Hearing this, Jean gave up trying to convince her directly and instead warned me.
“Yuta, make sure she doesn’t fire it until I give the okay.”
“Yeah, I get it. I won’t let her use it unless it’s absolutely necessary.”
Jean still looked unconvinced, his expression saying, Are you guys really okay?
“More importantly, I want to see Alvion’s mobility. How’s its flight capability?”
“Alright, let’s give it a try. Mayu, lift off a bit.”
“Got it, big brother.”
As soon as she said that, Alvion soared several hundred meters into the air in an instant. The speed was so shocking that even Jean and I were left speechless.
“To think something that massive can move that fast…”
“It’s a bit too unexpected… kind of scary, actually.”
As we were reacting to Alvion’s performance, Rafishal appeared, nodding with satisfaction before explaining confidently.
“High output, high mobility, high firepower, and high performance. Since the vessel was so large, I packed in as much as I could. What do you think? I’d say it’s my best masterpiece yet, second only to Arleo II.”
Coming from Rafishal, who rarely praises his creations, this was clearly an exceptionally high-performance Magicraft. However, I was more concerned about the mental burden it might place on Mayu.
Is she really going to be okay…?
