Chapter 30: The Secret of the Family Doctor Zhang Hong
Tang Chuyao parted her lips slightly and uttered a name, “Mei Xia’e.”
Zhang Wei secretly breathed a sigh of relief, the panic in his eyes instantly diminishing.
Seeing this, Tang Chuyao curled her lips into a smile, “Your brother, Zhang Hong, is having an affair with Aunt Mei. Aunt Mei and Tang Chuying hate me to the bone and poisoned me!”
“And you provided them with the poison!”
“Am I right, Manager Zhang?”
Zhang Wei remained silent, instead, he looked calm, “Since the Eldest Miss already knows, this humble one is at your disposal!”
“Zhang Wei, you were originally a servant of my General’s Mansion. You followed my uncle. My uncle saw that you were clever and sent you to learn accounting. Later, my mother entrusted Huichun Hall to you!”
“You poisoned me like this? How can you face the trust my General’s Mansion placed in you?”
Tang Chuyao looked at Zhang Wei as if he were a dead man.
She hated betrayal more than anything in the world!
Zhang Wei seemed to be reminiscing about something, a faint sadness in his eyes. Then, his gaze focused and became resolute.
Tang Chuyao withdrew the foot she had been pressing on Zhang Wei’s chest and sat down on a chair, casually adjusting her slightly disheveled sleeves.
“This Miss really can’t understand. You are incapable of having children. Why did you do all this?”
Zhang Wei’s face stiffened. He looked up at Tang Chuyao, his eyes filled with shock!
She had actually figured it out!
Did she know medicine?
Then, Tang Chuyao said calmly, “It’s for Tang Chunan, isn’t it?”
Zhang Wei instantly struggled to get up from the ground, but he was weakened by the ebony. He didn’t have much strength.
Then, he gave up struggling and tried to kneel towards Tang Chuyao, “Young Miss, this humble one begs you to spare the young master!”
Zhang Wei’s eyes were filled with tears, his hair was disheveled, as if he had aged ten years in an instant!
“This humble one was fortunate enough to be taken in by the General. I have been secretly searching for my long-lost brother.”
“Finally, in the tenth year of learning accounting, I found my brother. I have been in contact with him ever since.”
“This humble one only has my brother as a relative. My body is incomplete and I cannot have children…”
“I opposed Ahong and Aunt Mei, but Ahong was head over heels for that woman…”
Zhang Wei, enduring the pain in his stomach, said tremblingly, “Young Miss, this humble one is willing to exchange a secret for Nan’er’s life!”
Tang Chuyao’s eyes flashed with coldness, “You’re still bargaining with this Miss?”
Zhang Wei kowtowed, saying painfully, “Young Miss, Nan’er is still a child. He is Ahong’s child! This humble one has never had children in my life. I have already treated that child as my own!”
“Nan’er doesn’t know anything. The child is innocent!”
Tang Chuyao actually didn’t intend to do anything to Tang Chunan, “Then it depends on how valuable the secret Manager Zhang is talking about is!”
…
Fuling was packing the dried herbs when she saw Tang Chuyao, her eyes red, appear in front of her, carrying a person in her hand!
She quickly stepped forward and asked, “What happened, young lady?”
Fuling saw that Tang Chuyao was holding Zhang Wei.
She understood and comforted her, “Young lady, Zhang Wei betrayed the General’s Mansion, betrayed the master. Don’t be sad, it’s not your fault!”
“Aunt Fuling, this man killed my mother…” Tang Chuyao’s voice was hoarse, her eyes filled with pain. Her hand loosened, and Zhang Wei instantly fell to the ground, it was unclear if he was dead or alive.
Fuling’s face turned pale, her eyes glared at Zhang Wei, she wanted to say something, but then she turned her gaze to Tang Chuyao.
Her whole body trembled, her eyes were red, like a discarded kitten, small and pitiful.
Fuling hugged Tang Chuyao in her arms and gently patted her back, “Young lady, if you are sad, just cry it out…”
Fuling was also sobbing at this moment, her master!
She thought that her master had died after giving birth because of her weak body, but she didn’t expect that she was actually murdered!
Tang Chuyao’s tears silently slid down her cheeks. She had never felt a mother’s love for a single day, nor had she ever been loved by her mother…
Since she had memories, she had been living in the Xima Village. All the brothers and sisters around her were orphans. She never thought there was anything wrong with lacking maternal love.
Until she was six years old, her master took her up the mountain to hunt. When her master drew back the bowstring and aimed at a doe, the doe actually knelt down like a human…
At that time, her master put down his bow and arrow and let the doe go. She was small, and she saw that the doe’s belly was very big.
Her master told her at that time that the doe was about to become a mother. There was a fawn in her belly, and she was protecting her child…
That was the first time she realized that the word “mother” had warmth…
When she was eight years old, her brother took her down the mountain to buy things. There were people and carriages coming and going on the street. Suddenly, a horse from a carriage was startled and ran wildly on the street. People scattered, and it was a chaotic scene.
Unexpectedly, a three-year-old child was separated from his mother and cried loudly in the middle of the street. At that moment, the startled horse ran towards the child. Just then, a middle-aged woman, regardless of her own safety, rushed forward and held the child tightly in her arms.
Everyone thought that the woman would die under the horse’s hooves. Her senior brother slapped the startled horse with a palm, and the horse fell to the ground, avoiding a disaster.
The rescued mother and son invited them to their home as guests. They couldn’t refuse the woman’s enthusiasm, so they stayed at her house for a night.
The little boy seemed to be frightened and wouldn’t leave his mother’s arms. The woman could only hold the child and gently coax him.
She saw the woman gently hold the child in her arms, softly humming a song she had never heard before. The child soon fell asleep…
The woman gently placed the child on the bed, covered him with a small blanket, stared at the child for a while, her face full of love. She gently kissed the child’s forehead, squeezed his little hand, smiled indulgently, and then went about her business…
She leaned against the door frame, secretly watching the scene. That was the first time she yearned for a mother…
Three years ago, she was taken to the capital, at the age of thirteen.
The first time she stepped into the Yongyong Duke’s Mansion, she was full of anticipation. She had a father, a grandmother, a concubine, and a younger sister. She heard from the servants that Aunt Mei was very fond of her younger sister, Tang Chuying.
She also heard from the servants that Aunt Mei was the only mistress in the mansion and would be the head of the household in the future, just like her own mother.
She thought they would be kind to her, just like they were to Tang Chuying…
The tragic death in her previous life had made her no longer yearn for family affection. She thought she had become indifferent after her rebirth…
But when Zhang Wei told her that her mother was poisoned to death by Aunt Mei, the pain in her heart made it hard for her to breathe…
Zhang Wei said that Aunt Mei threatened her mother with her own life, and her mother drank the poison to save herself…
She thought of the doe she saw when she was six years old, and the woman she saw when she was eight…
Her mother had always loved her, loved her very much…
Tang Chuyao finally couldn’t control her emotions and cried out in pain…
