Chapter 4: Feeling Troubled and Annoyed
Hearing Hu Yao calling him, he temporarily stopped his actions. Because he couldn’t hear what Hu Yao was saying clearly, he ran to her with his messy hair.
“What did you say, Yaoyao?”
The chicken at home was a wild chicken that Jiang Han caught in the mountains half a month ago. He was originally going to eat it, but he found that it could lay eggs, so he kept it.
Hu Yao was injured and had lost so much blood, Jiang Xiaochao wanted to catch it and give it to Hu Yao to eat.
“Nothing…” Hu Yao met his curious gaze, squatted down, and reached out to smooth his hair.
He had been chasing the chicken for a long time, and had also fallen a few times, so his body was covered in dust.
The sleeve of his small clothes was torn somewhere.
Hu Yao was about to say something to him, but the door that wasn’t closed tightly was pushed open by someone, and a loud and arrogant voice rang out with the arrival of the person.
“Hu Yao, look at what your son has done!”
Li Dahua walked straight in, first scanning the room. Seeing that there were only Hu Yao and her son, her voice became even louder.
“It’s good that you’re awake. It was out of kindness that I came to see you yesterday when you fell like that, and now I’m here to settle the score with you!”
“I knew that you, a fool, couldn’t teach a good son. You, the mother, don’t know anything, and you teach your son to be a scoundrel. Your kid not only beat my son yesterday, but also broke my things. Let me tell you…”
Li Dahua said a bunch of things in one breath, not waiting for Hu Yao to react. Her gaze towards Hu Yao was the same as before, disdainful.
“Li Dahua!” Jiang Xiaochao’s small face sank, his lips pursed, and he glared at her fiercely. The cuteness he had in front of Hu Yao was completely gone. He directly called her by her name.
“You’re the fool! Your son is an idiot! I’ll tell my dad to beat you to death!”
Jiang Xiaochao, at such a young age, knew that everyone was afraid of Jiang Han. Every time he mentioned Jiang Han, it worked, so he used it every time.
Hearing him say this, Li Dahua choked: “You, you little brat! You’re so arrogant even though you did something wrong at such a young age. You’re truly a child born of a mother but not raised by a mother…”
She glared and wanted to continue, but she caught sight of Lin Zhaodi entering the door. Her words stopped, her face turned bad, and she snorted heavily and left. She didn’t notice the different Hu Yao, and her equally ugly face, and she still thought that she was just sick from bumping her head.
“What’s wrong? What did Li Dahua come for? Did she cause trouble for you?” Lin Zhaodi walked over quickly, asking with concern and curiosity.
Then she saw that Jiang Xiaochao’s fierce expression hadn’t subsided yet, and she sighed helplessly: “Xiaochao, did you do something again?”
Hu Yao wasn’t quite sure. She felt that Jiang Xiaochao was very good, but actually Jiang Xiaochao followed Jiang Han. If anyone did anything to provoke him, he wouldn’t tolerate it. He was very domineering at such a young age, and there were often complaints from the neighbors.
But Jiang Han mostly ignored it, and Hu Yao sometimes joined in the mischief with Jiang Xiaochao, so Lin Zhaodi was the one who worried the most.
Jiang Xiaochao secretly glanced at Hu Yao, then twisted and turned before saying, with a hint of righteousness: “Xiao Shitou said bad things about Yaoyao yesterday, so I beat him.”
“Dad said I could beat him.” He added, with a sense of justification.
Although Jiang Xiaochao knew that his mother was a fool, he was very protective of her and couldn’t let others say bad things about her. As soon as he heard it, he wouldn’t let it go, even if it was an adult, he would go and settle the score with them angrily.
Jiang Han wouldn’t scold him much for this, and even supported him to some extent. After all, Hu Yao was the mother of his child, and if she was gossiped about to his face, then don’t blame him for getting angry.
Logically speaking, Jiang Xiaochao, a three-year-old child, shouldn’t be feared by everyone, but his father was Jiang Han. Jiang Han’s evil reputation was known far and wide, and he was a reckless man who didn’t care about life or death. His gang were all those who were lawless, unreasonable, and didn’t care about justice. It’s one thing to say bad things about Hu Yao, but if they did something to his only son, that would be a real big deal.
So even though Jiang Han wasn’t home, everyone was afraid to cause trouble at Jiang’s house.
Hu Yao looked down at Jiang Xiaochao, who was protecting her, and a warm current surged through her heart.
Lin Zhaodi said a few words to Jiang Xiaochao, and then asked Hu Yao a few more questions.
“I’m much better, thank you.” Hu Yao politely thanked her, giving her a smile.
Lin Zhaodi rarely interacted with such a Hu Yao, so she couldn’t help but look at her a few more times, until Hu Yao felt embarrassed and smiled, waving her hand to tell her not to mind: “Xiaoyao, you look so good. This smile, your spirit looks much better, and you’re even prettier.”
No wonder someone like Jiang Han would have more patience with her than with others.
Lin Zhaodi thought to herself.
Logically speaking, she should call Hu Yao “sister-in-law,” but Hu Yao was a few years younger than her. She had been treating her like a child for the past few years, so she felt a little awkward calling her “sister-in-law” now.
“This medicine, you have to change it again at night. You can’t change it yourself. If I forget later, remember to call me. Just shout, don’t be shy.” Lin Zhaodi helped Hu Yao change the medicine, and her words became familiar again. She also habitually started to braid Hu Yao’s hair.
Halfway through, she realized that this time Hu Yao didn’t pester her by shaking her hand and asking her to braid it.
Lin Zhaodi smiled, but continued to braid the rest.
Hu Yao sat still, and when she realized it, she blushed slightly and thanked her.
As she helped her braid her hair, Hu Yao also recalled some memories. In the picture, she was pulling at her messy hair in a pitiful way and begging Jiang Han to braid it for her.
Jiang Han must have found her troublesome and annoying, and he roared at her impatiently, but maybe he was annoyed by her nagging, and with a dark face, he casually tied it for her. He even used a tree branch to tie it, which was no different from tying firewood. Of course, she wasn’t satisfied, and she started to make a fuss again.
Hu Yao’s memories stopped at the time when she was most capricious and somewhat willful. If she was dissatisfied with anything, she would definitely speak up.
Jiang Han wasn’t a good-tempered person either. She kept making a fuss, and he, with a sullen face, directly cut off her long hair and told her to go away.
He cut her hair, and he cut it unevenly, making it look very ugly. Hu Yao cried and cried, her tears and snot running down her face. Jiang Han didn’t feel sorry for her at all, and he even watched with amusement. Finally, he felt annoyed by her noise.
She arrived, he scolded her, and in the end, Lin Zhaodi coaxed her back to happiness. Later, she also braided her hair for her every day.
Her thoughts returned, Hu Yao looked at Lin Zhaodi’s smiling face, her heart warmed, and she couldn’t help but feel close to her.
Lin Zhaodi was four years older than her, only twenty years old at the time, but she had always taken good care of her like a sister and a mother.
Perhaps there was a reason for this due to Jiang Han, but even Hu Yao’s blood relatives wouldn’t have been so meticulous with her, let alone a stranger.
The Hu family, knowing she was stupid, immediately sold her and drove her out of the house. Now, she still had such a good person by her side, which was already a very lucky thing.
Hu Yao looked at everything around the Jiang family, listening to Lin Zhaodi’s voice talking to Jiang Xiaochao, and a sudden sense of luck surged within her.
