Chapter 183: Heaven Is Kind to Me
Having known each other for so long, this was the first time Ye Xin Ran asked Leng Qing Yu for help.
Leng Qing Yu felt a little flattered.
“I originally didn’t want to trouble you, but the Leng family has such an extensive network. Could you ask someone in Tian Chang Prefecture to help us inquire about available store fronts?”
Ye Xin Ran cautiously explained her request.
Leng Qing Yu immediately agreed.
“What’s so difficult about that? I actually have an empty store front in Tian Chang Prefecture. Have your business partner take a look. If it works for you, just use it.”
“If we use it, we’ll pay rent at market rates,” Ye Xin Ran replied gratefully.
Leng Qing Yu waved her hand dismissively. “Pay rent? It’s just a small store front.
Xin Ran, the Leng family is wealthy, very wealthy.
All of this will eventually belong to you and your brother.”
Leng Qing Yu spoke sincerely, pouring out her true feelings.
Ye Xin Ran understood this fully.
She felt deeply grateful and moved.
She wanted to strengthen her bond with Leng Qing Yu, but for some reason, she couldn’t bring herself to express it.
Faced with Leng Qing Yu’s kindness, she instinctively responded with restraint:
“Actually, I also have money not a lot, but it’s enough to rent a store front.”
Leng Qing Yu saw that Ye Xin Ran’s stubbornness mirrored her own.
But she could also tell that Xin Ran no longer rejected her as she once had.
These days, Xin Ran was genuinely concerned for her.
During those two nights when she detoxified herself through acupuncture, Xin Ran had stayed by her side, not even changing her clothes, all while maintaining a calm demeanor.
Leng Qing Yu’s heart ached.
This child must have lacked affection from elders growing up. She didn’t know how to be pampered, how to express vulnerability, or how to ask for help, she only knew how to do her best in everything.
It made her heart ache deeply.
Once the Lu family’s affairs were resolved, Leng Qing Yu decided she would make it up to her daughter.
For now, she simply said, “Let’s take it one step at a time. Have your partner check it out first. If they’re not satisfied, I’ll have someone find another place for you.”
Ye Xin Ran knew she’d made the right choice by seeking Leng Qing Yu’s help.
Two days later, a message came from Li Mo.
The store front that Ye Xin Ran had introduced was one of the locations he had initially set his sights on.
“When I asked the real estate agents about it, they said the store front was empty but that the owner had never registered it with their agency for rental or sale. How did you manage to contact the owner?”
The moment they met, Li Mo asked excitedly.
“It was just a lucky coincidence!”
Ye Xin Ran was equally pleased that the store front had been secured so smoothly.
Moreover, since the property belonged to Leng Qing Yu, there was no fear of being evicted halfway through their business.
“Wait a minute! Someone who owns such a prime store front must be either rich or powerful. Sister-in-law, when did you start mingling with such influential people?”
Li Mo was completely unaware of everything that had transpired recently.
He had been preoccupied with setting up the branch store, running around to purchase medicinal ingredients and find a store front. He hadn’t even heard about Ye Xin Ran and Xiao Huai’an being summoned to the yamen for questioning until much later.
So, he had no idea that Ye Xin Ran had reconnected with her biological mother.
This was not something Ye Xin Ran intended to hide from him.
“It was the Leng family who helped arrange it,” she replied.
“The Leng family? Which Leng family?”
Li Mo thought for a moment before realization dawned on him. He asked, somewhat incredulously, “You mean the Leng family of Leng Ji Cloth Shop?”
Ye Xin Ran nodded.
“My goodness, sister-in-law! Since when did you have connections with the Leng family?
How close are you? Do you know their manager?”
Li Mo continued asking excitedly.
Xiao Huai’an, finding his obsequious tone unbearable, coldly interjected, “What does it have to do with you?”
“How does it not have to do with me?”
Li Mo was still brimming with excitement.
“If sister-in-law knows someone in the Leng family, we can use their transportation network for shipping goods. You don’t understand, when it comes to logistics, the Leng family’s network is unmatched in the entire Da Liang.
With access to their network, any business is half-successful from the start.
You could even sell goods to the far southern regions without any problem!”
Ye Xin Ran was hearing about the Leng family’s business operations for the first time.
Previously, she only knew that the Leng family was wealthy and adept at business.
She hadn’t realized their transportation network was so advanced.
“If there’s a need, I can certainly ask,” Ye Xin Ran said casually.
Li Mo’s curiosity was piqued further.
“Sister-in-law, come on, tell me. What’s your actual relationship with the Leng family?”
“It’s not something I’m trying to hide,” Ye Xin Ran said calmly. “The head of Leng Ji Cloth Shop, Leng Qing Yu, is my biological mother.”
“Oh my goodness!”
Li Mo’s jaw dropped so far you could see his molars.
“Huai’an, is this for real?”
He turned to Xiao Huai’an for confirmation.
Xiao Huai’an nodded.
Li Mo’s expression grew even more peculiar.
He was indeed shocked, absolutely shocked.
Ye Xin Ran felt something was off.
When Li Mo looked at Xiao Huai’an, there always seemed to be something hidden in his gaze, something she couldn’t quite decipher.
And her intuition was correct.
Though Li Mo was excited about the potential business opportunities with the Leng family, he was also a bit wary of Ye Xin Ran’s identity.
After all, she was Lu Ting En’s daughter.
Doing business was one thing, they could keep it strictly professional.
But becoming relatives?
Leng Qing Yu’s husband was none other than Lu Ting En, one of the Xiao family’s enemies.
Once Ye Xin Ran’s attention was drawn to a customer in the shop, Li Mo discreetly turned to Xiao Huai’an again.
In a conspiratorial tone, he asked, “Is what she said true?”
“It is,” Xiao Huai’an replied calmly.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
Li Mo was so agitated he was nearly hopping in place.
“And what would have been the point?” Xiao Huai’an shot him a glance before continuing, “You’re just a doctor. Even if I’d told you, what could you have done? Poison him?”
“No, I wouldn’t poison him! But at least I’d have been mentally prepared when talking to her. Now what? That’s her biological father, are you still planning on seeking revenge?”
Suddenly, Xiao Huai’an smiled.
It was a serene smile, like a clear breeze under a bright moon, radiant and tranquil.
Li Mo couldn’t comprehend it and assumed he was putting on airs.
“What are you smiling about?” Li Mo grumbled.
Xiao Huai’an’s smile faded as he looked solemnly at Ye Xin Ran’s figure in the distance.
“I’m smiling because fate has been kind to me. It allows me to stay close to my loved ones without being divided by a vile man.”
“What do you mean…”
Halfway through his question, Li Mo suddenly realized something.
“Wait, you’re saying that Sister-in-law won’t object if you go after her biological father?”
“Not only will she not object, she’ll support me.”
Xiao Huai’an nodded firmly.
“Because we share the same enemy.”
“Whoa, this is a mess!”
Li Mo was utterly baffled.
“You’re saying that Sister-in-law holds a grudge against her father?”
“Lu Ting En has done countless evil deeds, even harming his own biological daughter. Even if it weren’t for what he did to the Xiao family, I would never forgive him!”
Xiao Huai’an’s tone turned icy.
