Chapter 47
The wives of the soldiers who had been defending Qiu Dazao were stunned.
At first, they thought it was the wife of some battalion commander.
It turned out to be the newly married wife of Deputy Regiment Commander Lu.
Moreover, after hearing what she said, it seemed that the mother of Commander Xu was not in the right.
Everyone’s minds changed, and they no longer dared to side with Qiu Dazao. Some of them rolled their eyes and released Qiu Dazao’s hand.
“Auntie, I’m still cooking at home, I’ll go back now.”
“I still have soup simmering in my pot, don’t let it burn!”
“Oh, my little rascal is squatting in the toilet, I have to go wipe his butt…”
“…”
The excuses were strange and varied, obviously these people didn’t want to be involved in their family affairs anymore.
Although Deputy Regiment Commander Lu was just a deputy, he was promoted faster than Commander Xu. He was also younger, and with a few more missions, he might become the real commander.
Qiu Dazao looked at everyone running away in a daze, and soon even the children were pulled away by their parents.
Only their two families were left behind. Qiu Dazao glared at Tang Wan fiercely.
“Little slut, don’t be smug, we’re not done yet!”
She was going back to tell her son!
“Okay, go ahead and tell Commander Xu, remember to tell your son all these words about ‘little slut’ and ‘fox spirit’.
See if your son will scold you for not teaching your children well, or if he will come looking for trouble with my family.”
Tang Wan retorted mercilessly, then pulled Tang Zhou back home.
Behind them, Qiu Dazao was so angry that she jumped up and down, dragging one grandson in each hand as she walked back, and then glared fiercely at Xu Qiao.
“You useless thing, what are you still standing there for? Wait for your father to come back and I’ll have him deal with you!”
On the other side, Tang Wan was taking Tang Zhou back home. Tang Zhou was always proud, but this time his eyes were red.
“Sister, maybe I should just go back to Dongshi.”
It was all because of him that his sister was humiliated, he was a drag on her.
“You’re not going to be scared by a few words from others, are you?”
Tang Wan realized that her tone was a little harsh, and quickly softened her voice, “Zhou Zhou, we are a family.
What others say is their business, your brother-in-law and I never thought of you as a burden.”
“I know, sister.”
Tang Zhou mumbled, his mood didn’t seem very high. She kept comforting him, and as they walked back, they happened to meet Lu Huaijing who was looking for them.
“Wife, what happened?”
Lu Huaijing had met a military wife on his way back home, who said that his wife had a conflict with someone.
He was so scared that he quickened his pace.
“It’s nothing serious, we’ll talk about it when we get home.”
Tang Wan noticed the curious eyes of the people in the courtyard, and didn’t want to give them a show.
So she took the two men, big and small, back to their own home.
I don’t know where Lu Huaijing got a coal stove, with a few coal briquettes next to it.
The pot was now on the coal stove, heating their food.
“Zhou Zhou, did someone bully you?”
Lu Huaijing’s eyes were sharp, he noticed that Tang Zhou’s ears were red from being pulled, and his clothes were also messed up.
“Brother-in-law.”
Tang Zhou’s eyes welled up, he didn’t cry when he was beaten earlier, but when his brother-in-law asked him this, his eyes filled with tears of grievance.
“It was Xu Heping, the son of Commander Xu. He listened to his grandmother’s nonsense and called me a fox spirit and Zhou Zhou a burden.
Zhou Zhou was angry and they fought, be careful, don’t get into trouble.”
It wasn’t that Tang Wan doubted Commander Xu’s character, it was just that Qiu Dazao was too much.
She would definitely go back and add fuel to the fire, and the other party might blame Lu Huaijing.
“I’ll handle it.”
A chill flashed in Lu Huaijing’s eyes, he was unhappy in his heart. If the commander came to him, he could fight back.
He was afraid that he wouldn’t come, leaving his wife to suffer in vain.
“Brother-in-law, I’m causing you trouble.”
Tang Zhou felt uncomfortable, and Lu Huaijing put an arm around him, his eyes deep.
“Zhou Zhou, you’re not causing any trouble, you did the right thing. If someone bullies you and your sister, you should fight back!”
Tang Zhou widened his eyes in surprise. In the past, when he fought with other children, his parents would always tell him to be patient.
Their identities were different, but his brother-in-law thought it was right for him to fight?
“Can I?”
“Of course you can.”
Lu Huaijing looked at him encouragingly, “If anyone dares to insult you and your sister again, go for it! If anything happens, I’ll take care of it.”
“But he’s the commander’s son.”
Tang Zhou was still worried, after all, Xu Heping’s father was his brother-in-law’s superior.
“That’s true, but they’re in the wrong. Even if it gets out, you’re not wrong.”
Lu Huaijing gave him a reassuring smile, “You live here, it’s like living at your own home, don’t be restrained.”
“Okay, thank you, brother-in-law.”
Tang Zhou’s eyes sparkled, filled with admiration as he looked at Lu Huaijing.
Tang Wan: …
It seemed like all her persuasion was in vain.
This was the strange friendship between men, wasn’t it?
“Let’s eat.”
Lu Huaijing divided the warmed food between the siblings. The food was good, it was braised pork with potatoes.
The canteen chef’s skills seemed to be pretty good, the meat was fatty but not greasy, and Tang Wan ate a big bowl with satisfaction.
On the other side, Qiu Dazao took her grandchildren back home, her new daughter-in-law was already off work and stir-frying dishes.
There was at least half a pound of meat in the pot, which made Qiu Dazao, who was usually deprived of oil and salt, unable to bear it.
Her heart ached, and her tone wasn’t very good, “You don’t know the value of rice, oil, salt, and vinegar until you’re in charge of a household.
Qingqing, you have a big family, you can’t waste it.”
“I want to eat.”
Xia Qing was a nurse herself and her family was also well-off, so it wasn’t a problem to eat meat occasionally.
Qiu Dazao was already in a bad mood, and when Xia Qing said that, they immediately started arguing.
When Commander Xu came home, he was greeted not by hot food but by two women who were about to tear the roof off.
Xu Heping and his younger brother Xu Weimin were holding bowls of rice, eating the meat dishes that Xia Qing had cooked.
“Son, look at your newly married wife, she eats so much meat in one meal, isn’t that a waste?”
Qiu Dazao triumphantly went to complain to Commander Xu, her son was hers, she didn’t believe he would favor this fox spirit.
“I just got my salary and meat coupons, I wanted to treat you, now it’s good, we can’t even eat.”
Xia Qing was young and knew how to be sweet, a few words made Commander Xu feel sorry for her.
He put his arm around his little wife and glared angrily at his two sons who were eating with their mouths full of oil.
“I work my ass off, and you’re starving? You’re like starving ghosts!”
“Dad.”
Xu Heping was beaten up today and then scolded by his father, so he started to cry miserably.
Unable to do anything about Xia Qing, Qiu Dazao vented her anger on Tang Wan, “What are you being so fierce for?
Your son was badly beaten by an outsider today, what’s wrong with eating some meat?”
“What happened?”
Commander Xu still cared about his son, and when he heard that he had been beaten up, he immediately frowned.
Qiu Dazao then elaborated on the story of Tang Zhou beating Xu Heping, adding fuel to the fire and emphasizing the other party’s fault.
Xu Heping pounded his head on the table, “Dad, it hurts so much!”
“I’ll go find them!”
Commander Xu had a hot temper, and when he heard this, he was about to go find Lu Huaijing. Xia Qing saw this and quickly chased after him.
