Chapter 56: Picking You Up Tonight
“What?” Shuangxu didn’t understand.
“Nothing, just complimenting you,” He Tingzhou said.
Shuangxu didn’t believe him. He never said anything complimentary.
She wanted to introduce the two of them, but when she turned around, the Great God was eight steps away, his face clearly saying, “Don’t call me, don’t call me, don’t call me.”
Shuangxu knew he hated social interactions, and even avoided company dinners. Normally, the company wouldn’t ask him to participate in these activities unless absolutely necessary. This time, the business trip involved technical issues, which is why he was brought along.
Seeing his resistance, she dropped the idea.
“He’s our company’s technical director, but he’s very socially anxious, so I won’t introduce you.”
He Tingzhou mocked, “Your company is so small yet has so many gods, everyone’s a director?”
Shuangxu was a little unhappy, “Where’s everyone a director? There’s only one technical director. He’s the core of our company. The flight control system you were interested in, he’s the one who wrote the program.”
She was quite protective.
He Tingzhou’s cool, indifferent eyes scanned the otaka from top to bottom. Pale and thin, he couldn’t even do twenty push-ups, where did he get abs?
“How can President Song still be so easily fooled? You’re quite smart in front of me, you use all your intelligence to deal with me?”
Shuangxu was completely lost, not understanding what he was talking about. “Other people aren’t like you, always bullying me.”
He Tingzhou leaned against the car door and asked her, “How have I bullied you?”
Those two words were bitten out lazily, adding a touch of ambiguity. Xu Zhen, who was beside them, lowered his head professionally, looking at his nose and heart.
Shuangxu cleverly chose to end the topic. “I’ll go back first.”
Without waiting for He Tingzhou’s reaction, she quickly walked up the stairs. The waiting Great God hurriedly followed, and the two of them entered the hotel side by side.
The next day, the Hydrogen Energy Development Summit was held at the convention center.
This summit brought together cutting-edge companies and experts in the hydrogen energy industry. Shuangxu took it very seriously and arrived at the venue early with the Great God.
In this industrial setting, women—especially beautiful women—were rare. As soon as Shuangxu walked in, wearing her professional attire, she immediately attracted a lot of attention.
A man came over to chat. He mentioned that his company also did liquid hydrogen supply, so Shuangxu talked to him.
But the man’s interest was clearly not in Feixue.
She asked about the company’s lightweight cryogenic liquid hydrogen storage tank, and he asked her, “How old are you? You don’t look like you’ve graduated yet, what school do you go to?”
She asked about transportation issues, and he asked her, “Miss Song, you’re so beautiful, why are you still single?”
It was like talking to a cow.
Under his intense gaze, she lost interest and patience in the conversation. “If I were ugly, would being single be justified?”
“Ah, I didn’t mean it that way.” He took out his phone. “Your company needs cryogenic liquid hydrogen supply, right? Add me on WeChat, let’s have a good chat sometime…”
“No, I don’t like working with unprofessional people.”
After turning around, Shuangxu saw Zhang, the general manager of Huifeng Technology, with several people from Chenxing.
Seeing their happy conversation, she instantly understood why she was stood up yesterday.
After Chenxing lost to Feixue in the cooperation with Yun Dun Group, they unexpectedly came here to snatch the supplier.
The people from Chenxing saw her and had smug and mocking expressions. “President Song, I heard you went to Huifeng yesterday and got the cold shoulder. It’s a pity, Zhang was talking to us yesterday, he didn’t have time for you.”
Shuangxu said calmly, “There’s more than one liquid hydrogen supplier. If Huifeng doesn’t work, I’ll find another one. If you guys like chasing Feixue, go ahead, see how long you can chase.”
General Manager Zhang looked a little embarrassed and didn’t dare to look at her directly. When the people from Chenxing left, he apologized to her privately.
“I’m sorry, President Song. I didn’t mean to ignore you, I really didn’t have time yesterday…”
Shuangxu interrupted him, “Before the contract is officially signed, you have the right to choose, I understand that completely. But don’t say such hypocritical things, you have to eat, drink, and go to the toilet every day, no matter how busy you are, you have time to send a message.”
“To be honest, I’m sincere in cooperating with you, otherwise I wouldn’t have come all this way to invite you. But they contacted me, they’re willing to connect us and introduce me to Director Fan of Yun Dun Group. You know, Yun Dun Group’s layout in the hydrogen energy industry chain is unmatched by other companies. Besides the drone sector, they also have liquid hydrogen heavy truck projects and large-scale liquid hydrogen aircraft projects. If we can establish a long-term cooperation, it will be very beneficial to our company’s development.”
After listening, Shuangxu found it a bit funny.
“If you hadn’t broken your promise yesterday, you would have known how big of a circle you’ve made. Feixue’s client is Yundun Group.”
“Then Chenxing…”
“They’re fooling you,” Shuangxu said. “You’re falling for it faster than a monkey.”
General Manager Zhang was completely stunned, still in a state of collapse, unable to react. Just then, Xu Zhen, dressed in a suit, walked to Shuangxu’s side and respectfully said, “Miss Song, Mr. He is asking for you.”
Shuangxu turned around and saw He Tingzhou standing on the other side of the venue.
He was surrounded by people, wearing a dark gray suit with a three-piece suit, custom-tailored to fit perfectly. From his shoulders, chest, waist, to legs, the lines were elegant and smooth, without a single wrinkle.
His tie was tied with a sophisticated Prince Albert knot, the pocket square in his left chest pocket matched his shirt, and his entire appearance, from head to toe, exuded an aura of unparalleled elegance.
His tall and upright figure was too outstanding, his status even more outstanding. President Feng of the summit organizer and a group of relevant leaders and experts gathered around him.
He Tingzhou was not like Shen Yu, who valued etiquette and gentlemanly conduct in his interactions with others. He never gave anyone face.
He didn’t even bother to be polite or perfunctory to the people around him. His noble gaze crossed half the venue and looked at her, beckoning her with a flick of his finger.
Shuangxu was led over by Xu Zhen, and everyone’s eyes were focused on Shuangxu wasn’t sure why He Tingzhou called her over. Was he going to introduce her to someone? He wouldn’t be that kind.
As she approached, He Tingzhou’s bored expression disappeared. In the silence of everyone waiting, he introduced her: “My subcontractor.”
Shuangxu: “…”
She had never heard anyone introduced like that before.
Ordinary subcontractors wouldn’t be specially called over for introductions. Everyone understood that this “subcontractor” was not ordinary, and their attitude towards Shuangxu was polite and friendly.
She responded politely, smiling as she stood beside He Tingzhou. With his help, many company representatives approached her to make connections. Soon, her hands were full of business cards.
Among them were many liquid hydrogen suppliers even more famous than Huifeng.
The president was interested in Feixue’s liquid hydrogen drone. The socially anxious Da Shen was a social recluse, but once he started talking about drones and flight control systems, he transformed into a non-stop chatterbox, spitting out a barrage of technical terms that were too obscure for ordinary people. His whole being exuded the aura of a highly intelligent bookworm.
Such a rare talent was hard for the business tycoons to ignore, and they praised He Tingzhou for his discerning eye.
Shuangxu thought, “What does he have to do with it?”
“This is our company’s technical director, Cheng Shi.”
Cheng?
He Tingzhou raised an eyebrow slightly: “And who is that Liao?”
Shuangxu looked at him curiously: “My assistant. You’ve met her. She went with my senior sister to the signing ceremony that day.”
He Tingzhou didn’t remember.
But he remembered that there were two women that day.
After the meeting officially began, someone thoughtfully arranged a seat for Shuangxu in the first row. Right next to He Tingzhou.
She listened to the speech intently, occasionally taking notes, her two arms resting on the table, as focused as if she were in class.
Until the meeting ended,Shuangxu packed up her things and prepared to leave with Da Shen.
He Tingzhou’s cool gaze swept over the nerdy technical director who had been following her like a shadow the entire time. With a hypocritical expression, he said: “Going back? I have a few questions about your flight control system. Director Cheng, how about we have dinner together tonight and discuss it?”
Da Shen was stunned and instinctively looked at Shuangxu for help.
Shuangxu immediately said: “Sorry, Mr. He, he’s quite socially anxious and doesn’t like face-to-face conversations. If you have any questions, I’ll organize the materials and send them to you.”
“That’s unfortunate.” He Tingzhou had somehow taken the pen she had been using to write with and was twirling it between his long, slender fingers. “I don’t like reading text, I prefer face-to-face conversations.”
Shuangxu pursed her lips, pondering for a moment: “I can talk to you. Is that okay?”
He Tingzhou looked at her for a few seconds, then slowly put the pen cap back on and handed it to her: “Sure. I’ll pick you up tonight.”
