Chapter 24: The Movie King and the Husky 07
After driving all the way to Huayu, the executive director of Huayu came to the parking lot to greet him.
The director was tall, with slicked-back hair, a square face, and appeared to be in his forties. His appearance was quite proper, but he had a somewhat sleazy look. His name was Fang Zhenggang. He had been hired by Luo Yuntian with a high salary when Huayu was first established to oversee the company’s operations and development.
A few years ago, the domestic entertainment industry saw rapid growth, with many big players diving in to take a share. Huayu was founded during that time.
Now, the company had developed well. Although it wasn’t very famous in the industry, it had trained and debuted its own artists. While the profits were modest, it was still making money.
That was why Huayu had been able to keep running.
Although Huayu wasn’t considered a major player in Luo Yuntian’s eyes, for many of the artists, it was their lifeline—their world.
“Young Master Rui, you’re here,” Fang Zhenggang greeted as soon as the car stopped.
Tang Bin took a deep breath, put on a serious face, and gave a short “hmm,” opening the car door and stepping out, trying his best to appear confident.
“Brother Fang, why did you come out personally?”
The original owner had been curious about the entertainment company and often visited in the past, so Fang Zhenggang and he weren’t strangers.
Fang Zhenggang replied, “I just got a call from the boss saying Young Master Rui was coming, so I rushed over. Please, come inside…”
Fang Zhenggang’s voice trailed off as he noticed something. Clearly, he had spotted the dog strapped in the passenger seat of Young Master Rui’s car.
“Woof!” Haha seemed to bark, sensing that Tang Bin was about to leave. It wriggled its body and wiggled its way out of the seatbelt.
“Woof woof!”
“Young Master Rui, this is…” Fang Zhenggang stared at Haha, thinking to himself, Young Master Rui is really just a child, isn’t he? Wasn’t he supposed to come here for work experience and to see the world? Why did he bring a dog along?
“Ah, sorry, Brother Fang, please wait for me a moment.” Tang Bin walked back to the car and picked up Haha.
Previously, he hadn’t known how to refuse Haha, and he didn’t have the heart to leave the dog alone at home, bored and lonely. So, he had softened and brought it along.
But now that he had brought it, he felt responsible.
He couldn’t leave Haha in the car, so although it seemed a bit informal, he decided to take it inside.
“Brother Fang, um… could I bring it inside? I promise it’ll behave and won’t disturb you…” Tang Bin’s tone had a hint of pleading.
Fang Zhenggang watched Tang Bin’s actions coldly, but as soon as Tang Bin turned around, he put on a smile again. “It’s fine, it’s fine.”
What he was thinking, though, was that Young Master Rui had done a lot of reckless things before. Wasn’t it just recently that he came to the company to try to work his way into the industry? Now he’s only brought a pet to the company—nothing big.
He looked at the dog carefully cradled in the young master’s arms… and suddenly thought that being a dog didn’t seem so bad.
Fang Zhenggang led Tang Bin into the elevator, still smiling. “I’m curious, Young Master Rui, what’s the main task for your visit today?”
“I want to see the profiles of the artists in our company who haven’t debuted yet,” Tang Bin said.
These were the words he had already prepared in his mind, and when he spoke them, there was not the slightest hint of hesitation or fear. Fang Zhenggang didn’t detect anything unusual.
Fang Zhenggang immediately agreed, thinking to himself, The young master is clearly here for the up-and-coming artists! The previous one, Zheng Zhe, was too weak. I’ll arrange for a few good-looking and unique ones this time, and the young master probably won’t come back here anymore.
As for the task Luo Yuntian had assigned, to help Luo Rui familiarize himself with the business and operations… Fang Zhenggang couldn’t believe Luo Rui was here to learn the trade and do some real work. He didn’t buy it!
All he hoped was that the young master wouldn’t keep delaying him.
The group took the elevator up to Fang Zhenggang’s office. Tang Bin put Haha down and let it play in the corner so it wouldn’t disturb Mr. Fang.
Sure enough, Haha was obedient. Once its little paws touched the ground, it nimbly walked over to the corner and curled up there. It didn’t make a sound or cause any commotion. The quiet dog really wasn’t bothering anyone.
“Young Master Rui, this dog listens really well,” Fang Zhenggang casually praised. “It’s a Husky, right? And it’s so well-behaved?”
“Woof!”
Haha made its first sound since arriving at Huayu, barking at Fang Zhenggang and showing its teeth, looking rather fierce.
“Haha doesn’t like being called a Husky. As long as you don’t call it a Husky, it usually won’t bark,” Tang Bin explained.
Haha: “……”
Fang Zhenggang nodded in confusion and asked his secretary to bring over the profiles of the artists who hadn’t debuted yet. He respectfully handed them over to Young Master Rui for review.
Tang Bin took the documents and quickly flipped through them. It didn’t take long to find the person he was looking for—Lin Moning.
The profile of Lin Moning was quite simple. It mentioned that he came from a fallen family, had no parents, and was an orphan.
Growing up in a scholarly family, Lin Moning had received some training in music. He could play several instruments, had a good singing voice, and his dancing was trained by the company, with decent results.
The most striking part was the photo of Lin Moning, who had an inexplicably handsome face. When Tang Bin saw this face, he was immediately stunned.
With peach blossom eyes, a high nose bridge, thin lips, and a combination of several excellent facial features pieced together perfectly, Tang Bin couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe: This must be the most handsome person in the world.
Although, he admitted to himself, he was still rather naive and probably shouldn’t be saying such things.
Tang Bin stared at the photo for a while… Aside from that, the young man in the picture looked extremely youthful, and his face still carried a sense of innocence.
There was no reason to be shocked, as Lin Moning, like Tang Bin, was only eighteen years old this year. The photo must have been taken when he was younger, long before this moment.
But despite this youthful appearance… Why did Tang Bin feel like he had seen this person before?
He couldn’t help but rack his brain.
As a demon, he hadn’t seen much of the world, and since his time as a human had been short, he hadn’t met many people.
But because of that, anyone he had met left an impression in his mind.
Moreover, Tang Bin wasn’t stupid.
He remembered every word he had said to everyone after coming to this world and the scenes in which he had said them.
But this face… no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t remember where he had seen it before.
If it was when he saved Lin Moning in the bar, it didn’t seem like it.
Because the room had been dark at the time, and Lin Moning had gotten his face bruised, so he hadn’t really been able to make out what he looked like. Moreover, he hadn’t felt any kind of stunning admiration for him.
But if it wasn’t that… Tang Bin really couldn’t think of where this familiar feeling was coming from.
It felt so familiar… incredibly familiar…
“Young Master Rui?” At that moment, Fang Zhenggang’s voice came from beside him. “Are you interested in Lin Moning?”
“Huh?” Tang Bin looked at him, confused, not understanding why he would ask such a thing.
“…Young Master Rui, you’ve been staring at Lin Moning’s profile for quite a while now,” Fang Zhenggang said.
Tang Bin: “……”
Tang Bin’s face suddenly turned red, completely uncontrollable and out of place, like a cat caught in the act of sneaking around.
He had asked Fang Zhenggang to bring all the profiles to cover up the fact that he had come here specifically for Lin Moning.
He wasn’t afraid of much, but Tang Bin was afraid that this might catch the attention of the male lead.
He still remembered how fierce and wild the male lead had felt that night… just thinking about it made him nervous.
Unfortunately, his little brain wasn’t quick enough or alert enough, and he hadn’t anticipated being caught by Fang Zhenggang like this.
Tang Bin pretended to casually flip to another page, focusing on someone else’s profile.
He didn’t realize that Haha had somehow ended up at his feet.
Fang Zhenggang let out a small laugh. Having been in this industry for many years, he had seen it all. He said, “Young Master Rui, if you’re interested in Lin Moning, I can call him over right now so you can meet him.”
Haha, who was crouching on the ground nearby, gave two soft huffs and looked at Fang Zhenggang expressionlessly. Its silly and cute face, however, had a serious expression.
Tang Bin thought for a moment. Although he inexplicably felt fearful of the “male lead” character, what was meant to come would come. If he wanted to complete the mission, he couldn’t avoid meeting the male lead forever.
So he nodded. “Alright.”
Fang Zhenggang immediately picked up the phone to make arrangements.
However, after a while, it wasn’t Lin Moning who knocked on the office door, but Lin Moning’s manager, Hu Guanghui.
Hu Guanghui had a shrewd look on his face, with a particularly prominent nose. He looked like a fox, and when he smiled, there was a certain cunning air about him.
He greeted both Fang Zhenggang and Tang Bin first before Fang Zhenggang asked him, “Young Master Rui wants to see Lin Moning, so why are you here? Where is Lin Moning?”
“To be honest, Mr. Fang and Young Master Rui, Lin Moning has been missing for several days,” Hu Guanghui said, looking troubled. He then carefully glanced at Young Master Rui, not sure what kind of trouble his young master was causing now.
Previously, when Young Master Rui came for the “audition,” he had thought that with Lin Moning’s looks, he would be selected. But unexpectedly, Lin Moning didn’t perform well… In the end, it was another competitor, Zheng Zhe, who got ahead.
Hu Guanghui felt frustrated. Even though he had once placed high hopes on Lin Moning, at this point, he no longer wanted to support him. Before an artist debuts and gains any fame, they are as insignificant as dust—especially when the chances of debuting are so scarce…
Lin Moning had been [1]“Put on ice” is an idiom that means to delay, postpone, or temporarily suspend something. Hu Guanghui had left him to his own devices, even thinking he would never hear the name “Lin Moning” again.
But now, today, Young Master Rui was here looking for him!
“How did he go missing?” Tang Bin asked, growing more anxious.
“Well… his phone’s been turned off, and we can’t find him…” Seeing Young Master Rui’s expression grow more serious, Hu Guanghui reluctantly elaborated, distancing himself from the matter: “Lin Moning used to stay in the company dorm. His roommates said he hasn’t returned for several days, and… I really don’t know where he’s gone!”
For an artist who has debuted, their manager is responsible for everything, but Lin Moning hadn’t debuted yet.
If he decided to go missing, Hu Guanghui was powerless to stop it.
“Has he gotten into any trouble? Have you contacted the police?”
Tang Bin was genuinely anxious, recalling the scene when the male lead had fought someone in the bar… Tang Bin still didn’t know why they fought, but he knew that the male lead had many enemies.
What if Zheng Zhe was getting revenge again…?
“What about Zheng Zhe? Can you get in touch with him and bring him here?”
“I… I’ll try…” Hu Guanghui was puzzled by Young Master Rui’s behavior. He wondered what had gotten into him.
He silently speculated, but outwardly didn’t dare show his doubts. He took out his phone and tried to contact Zheng Zhe.
However, before he could make the call, there was a knock on the door of Fang Zhenggang’s office.
“Who is it?” Fang Zhenggang asked.
“I’m Lin Moning,” came a slightly cold voice from outside. “I heard Young Master Rui is looking for me, so I came here.”
