Chapter 40: Retaliation
“Show some respect, or I’ll punch you!”
Song Sikai glared at him, looking like he was bewitched by a fox spirit.
He had discovered that since Hu Yao recovered, Jiang Han was even more protective of her!
His brother didn’t matter anymore!
Song Sikai angrily took a big bite of mooncake, reluctantly showing respect to Hu Yao.
Back when he and Jiang Han were “fighting side by side,” Hu Yao didn’t even know where they were!
How could a woman be more important than a brother!
If he had a wife, his brothers would still be more important than her!
…
Hu Yao didn’t know who was more important, but on this Mid-Autumn Festival, Jiang Han and Song Sikai drank until late at night.
Jiang Xiaochao had also had a blast today, running around with his friends holding lanterns. When Hu Yao went to find him, he was still having too much fun and didn’t want to sleep.
She dragged him back to take a bath, and the two loud voices in the main room were still drinking.
It seemed that Song Sikai was different from Jiang Han’s other brothers. Unlike Liu Jie and Li Zhuangzhi, who flattered and fawned over Jiang Han, calling him brother while secretly harboring ulterior motives, Song Sikai was different.
But he disliked Hu Yao very much!
Hu Yao had noticed this a long time ago. He constantly urged Jiang Han to “discipline” her!
Hu Yao glanced at them, seeing that they were still enjoying themselves, she didn’t bother them. After Jiang Xiaochao finished his bath, she took her change of clothes and went to the shower room.
“What are you looking at? Don’t you want your eyes anymore?” Jiang Han frowned and kicked Song Sikai.
“She looked at me first!” Song Sikai retorted with the same displeasure. Hu Yao had been staring at him with a strange look, so he glared back! She must have held a grudge against him and wanted to get revenge!
His mother said that women were the most petty and vengeful, the most poisonous of hearts! She must be resentful because he had spoken about her in front of Jiang Han!
Sure enough, Hu Yao’s gentleness and obedience were all fake! Her previous stupidity was her true nature!
Hu Yao, that woman, was definitely pretending to be nice!
Indeed, Hu Yao’s gentleness and obedience were all a facade! Her previous stupidity was her true nature!
…
Hu Yao came out of the shower and found that Song Sikai had already left, leaving the table where they had been drinking in a mess.
She sighed softly and went to clean up.
“Chao-Chao, why aren’t you sleeping?”
A small figure ran over, and Hu Yao paused in her cleaning.
“I want water, Daddy wants water too.” Jiang Xiaochao held two cups, drank his own and then poured a cup for Jiang Han.
“Daddy, here’s your water.”
Jiang Han had gone to Jiang Xiaochao’s room at some point.
Although Jiang Xiaochao often argued with him, he actually liked him very much and admired him.
Every time the father and son argued or Jiang Xiaochao got beaten, he would forget about it in a short while and wouldn’t hold a grudge.
But this only applied to Jiang Han. Jiang Xiaochao held grudges against others.
“Daddy, will you sleep with me tonight? You won’t sleep with Mommy?” Hu Yao finished cleaning up and went over, hearing Jiang Xiaochao’s soft voice before entering the room.
As she stepped in, she saw him lying on Jiang Han’s lap, tugging at his clothes.
Jiang Han unceremoniously finished the water Jiang Xiaochao brought him, perhaps because he had drunk a lot or because Jiang Xiaochao was being so obedient and cute, his attitude towards him softened, and he scooped him up into his arms.
This scene finally had a hint of fatherly love and filial piety.
Jiang Xiaochao’s eyes looked like Jiang Han’s. He was young, his eyes were innocent and clear, while Jiang Han’s eyes were deep and stern.
His years of bad behavior had given him a bad reputation, and he didn’t have many good friends. Anyone who knew him would avoid him.
Jiang Han wasn’t actually bad-looking, but he usually lived a rough life and rarely cared about his appearance.
“Daddy, you need to shave!” Jiang Xiaochao’s tender face was scratched red by Jiang Han’s stubble, and he frowned, pushing his face away with his small hand.
Jiang Han pulled his little face, making it even redder: “Look at you, so delicate, you’re not a man at all!”
Jiang Xiaochao rolled up his sleeves and looked at his soft and round little belly, unwillingly shaking his head: “I’m not yet, I’m a kid.”
He was a little upset, not sure why he judged himself by his belly, but his current appearance was too cute, Hu Yao couldn’t help but smile, going forward to pull him out of Jiang Han’s arms.
Jiang Han had drunk quite a bit and was already a little drunk, but when Hu Yao reached out to “take” Jiang Xiaochao from him, he raised his eyes, his gaze suddenly turning cold and unfamiliar.
It took a few seconds for him to recognize her.
He easily handed Jiang Xiaochao to her.
These changes happened in just a few seconds, and Hu Yao didn’t notice.
“What were you looking at Song Sikai for? I’ll gouge your eyes out!” He grabbed her, suddenly saying fiercely.
Hu Yao had just hugged Jiang Xiaochao, but when he pulled her, she lost her balance and fell onto him with Jiang Xiaochao in her arms.
Jiang Xiaochao’s head hit his shoulder, a thud. He looked up, still not realizing what had happened, his eyes confused.
Then blood slowly flowed from his red nose.
“What are you doing!” Hu Yao saw that he had even bled from the bump, she was both shocked and angry, and she couldn’t help but hit him a few times in anger.
She didn’t hold back at all, and she ended up hurting herself.
Jiang Xiaochao looked pitiful with his bloody nose, he sniffed, his expression a little wronged and unhappy, watery eyes.
But he didn’t cry.
Hu Yao was heartbroken and quickly wiped his nose.
“Chao-Chao, does it hurt?”
His little nose was red, and his mouth was pouting high.
…
“Daddy is mean!” He snorted, nodding his head.
With Hu Yao comforting him, his grievance dissipated for the most part, but he was still a little angry at Jiang Han. He ran back to hit Jiang Han’s shoulder, clenching his little fist and hammering away.
Jiang Han picked him up like a little chick: “Get lost, Jiang Fuchao!”
Hu Yao was holding back her anger. Seeing him like this, her voice grew louder: “Jiang Han! Don’t do that to him! Why are you so mean!”
She pursed her lips and tried to pry his hand away.
“You’ve gotten bold, huh? Hitting and scolding me?” Jiang Han, his drunkenness fading a bit, held her wrist unhappily.
“You were the one who…”
“Who what? Jiang Fuchao doesn’t mind!” He was unreasonable, interrupting her.
Jiang Xiaocao opened his mouth to speak, but he covered it with his hand.
“Jiang Fuchao is definitely your son, he gets a bump on his nose and it’s all messed up. You two should practice getting tougher! All day long you just run around the house!” He turned the tables on them.
“…”
Not only did he not reflect on himself, but he was also being extremely unreasonable. The mother and son shared a similar expression of annoyance.
Hu Yao, unhappy, pulled her hand away from him, and without a word, she carried Jiang Xiaocao out of the room.
She gave him a black face, but her voice was still as gentle as ever when she spoke to Jiang Fuchao as they walked away.
Jiang Han narrowed his eyes. Good, she dared to give him a black face because of Jiang Fuchao!
