Chapter 96
“Why did you think I was trying to take my own life?”
Tang Wan drew her mouth in disbelief. His breath washed over her in the darkness, causing ripples in her heart.
Lu Huaijing paused, and after a long while, he explained in a husky voice.
“I thought you didn’t like marrying a rough guy like me.”
She should have been a pampered girl living a comfortable life. He thought she would have a huge adjustment to make.
That’s why he thought she was trying to take her own life.
“I’ll say it one last time, Lu Huaijing, listen carefully.”
Tang Wan carefully said, “I wasn’t trying to take my own life. I don’t regret marrying you. At least, I don’t regret it now. As for my parents, I believe they will be cleared of their status sooner or later.”
“I believe you.”
Lu Huaijing hugged Tang Wan tightly, “It was my fault. When I saw you jump into the river, my mind almost exploded.”
Even though he was far away, and he didn’t even see clearly, he still jumped out of the car and ran towards her. Luckily, she was fine.
“I forgive you.” Tang Wan snorted, “I’m not angry, seeing as you were worried about me.”
“Really?”
Lu Huaijing couldn’t help but feel elated. After the misunderstanding was cleared up, they felt each other’s body temperature, and gradually, other thoughts arose.
He gently stroked her, “Wife, I was wrong, let me make it up to you, okay?”
“Is this making it up to me?”
Tang Wan was speechless, but the man had already leaned in. His rough fingertips brushed over her.
He was teasing her, setting her heart ablaze.
“Of course it is.”
Lu Huaijing gently turned her body back, their eyes met, and he gently kissed her lips.
Their lips and teeth ground together, full of tenderness. An experienced man seemed to know better how to make Tang Wan happy.
They hadn’t seen each other for a few days, and their longing had gone deep. Lu Huaijing explored her bit by bit.
With the touch of his fingertips, Tang Wan was tortured. Her whole body seemed to be coated in pink.
Under the moonlight, he captured Lu Huaijing’s heart. His lips brushed against her pink earlobe.
“Wife.”
His magnetic voice sounded in her ear, sending ripples through her, making her ears tingle.
Her white fingertips pressed slightly, leaving a red mark on Lu Huaijing’s back.
Tang Wan felt like a small boat, rising and falling with the waves.
One moment she was thrown high into the air, the next she was being battered by the waves in the deep sea.
The rain washed over her recklessly. Tang Wan felt her toes were tired.
When the wind stopped and the rain calmed, Tang Wan’s voice was already a little hoarse.
“Wife, drink some water.”
Lu Huaijing handed her a cup of warm malted milk, and he carefully wiped her down.
After the warm malted milk went down, Tang Wan felt her throat was much more comfortable. She lay down, tired, and closed her eyes.
“So sleepy.”
She rolled into the thin blanket. Lu Huaijing finished pouring the water and gently wrapped his strong arms around her.
“Wife, go to sleep.”
Actually, he didn’t need to say anything. Tang Wan felt even lifting her eyelids was tiring.
Sure enough, soldiers had endless energy.
She thought to herself, but within a few breaths, she had fallen asleep.
When she woke up again, Tang Wan thought it would be empty next to her, as it had been before.
She turned around and met Lu Huaijing’s enlarged face. He seemed to have just woken up too, looking at her with sleepy eyes.
“Why didn’t you go to training?”
Tang Wan was surprised. Lu Huaijing gently stroked her long hair, “I just finished a mission. The leaders gave us a day off, I can finally spend some quality time with you.”
His rough hand brushed over Tang Wan’s long hair. It was only a little past seven o’clock. Tang Wan lazily leaned against him.
“Then I’ll sleep a little longer.”
Tang Wan slept until eight o’clock. Lu Huaijing hadn’t slept, he just held her tightly.
“Why didn’t you sleep a little longer?”
Tang Wan’s voice was still slightly hoarse. Lu Huaijing felt guilty, “Wife, didn’t you take the military hospital exam?”
Why wasn’t she at work this morning?
His wife was so smart, she couldn’t have failed the exam.
“I didn’t go.”
Tang Wan told him about everything that had happened recently. After listening, Lu Huaijing was silent for a long time.
“I’ll go make breakfast for you.”
He got out of bed skillfully. Tang Wan was still a little dazed when Lu Huaijing had already gone to the kitchen.
When she finished getting ready and went to the kitchen, Lu Huaijing had cooked porridge and boiled a few eggs.
He had eaten the noodles last night, so Lu Huaijing could only take what was available from the cabinet to make breakfast.
When Tang Wan arrived in the kitchen, Tang Zhou was stoking the fire with a look of admiration.
“What are you laughing at?”
Tang Wan felt a little confused. When did Lu Huaijing and Tang Zhou become so close?
“Sis, I think Brother-in-law is amazing. He can protect the country and he can also cook.”
Tang Zhou’s words surprised Tang Wan.
“Don’t think too highly of me.”
Lu Huaijing chuckled. The porridge was ready, and he called Tang Wan to the table. His cooking skills weren’t great, but they were passable.
After breakfast, Tang Zhou went out to play with Wang Shengli. Lu Huaijing lowered his voice and said to Tang Wan:
“Let’s go see Mom and Dad.”
Tang Wan was stunned for a moment. At first, she didn’t understand, then she realized he was talking about Tang Shi and his wife.
“No.”
Tang Wan instinctively refused, “If others see you interacting with them, your career will be ruined.”
“Then we’ll go secretly.”
Lu Huaijing held her hand affectionately, “You’re always thinking about me, as your son-in-law, I should also meet my father-in-law and mother-in-law.”
Seeing how serious he was, Tang Wan didn’t know how to refuse, “But…”
“Don’t ‘but’ me. I’ll go with you to see them tonight.”
Lu Huaijing raised his hand and rubbed her hair vigorously, “Your parents are my parents.”
“Okay.”
Tang Wan’s voice was choked with emotion. She didn’t know if she would regret it later.
But at this moment, she thought Lu Huaijing was pretty good.
“What are you crying for?”
Lu Huaijing’s rough fingertips landed on Tang Wan’s eye, gently wiping away the tears.
“Spoiled.”
He said this, but he gently patted Tang Wan’s back to comfort her.
He clearly loved her sweet and naive side.
“It’s all your fault.”
Tang Wan snorted, her fair face flushed pink, making Lu Huaijing’s heart flutter.
Just as he couldn’t resist kissing Tang Wan, there was a knock on the door outside.
“Third sister-in-law, Third sister-in-law!”
Lu Huaijing froze, his expression changed. That voice, it was clearly his fiery sister.
“Wife, I’ll go see who it is.”
He was afraid that Lu Huai’li would make things difficult for Tang Wan.
Tang Wan obediently listened. When Lu Huaijing went out to open the door, she put the bowls and chopsticks away in the kitchen.
A moment later, Lu Huai’li stormed in.
“Third sister-in-law, I got some fresh beans, I brought some over for you.”
She smiled at Tang Wan kindly, but it shocked Lu Huaijing.
Was this still the same sister who had stopped him from fulfilling his marriage contract and even threatened him?
What had happened to them while he was away?
