The cleanliness of the dormitory was typically inspected every Monday by the duty teacher, with occasional spot checks as well. If the dorm didn’t pass inspection, the class adviser would have a talk with the dorm leader. It only took a day before Zhang Yu and her group couldn’t take it anymore and cleaned up the floor on their own.
The next evening, after returning to the dorm and seeing the spotless floor, Wang Sasa felt it was necessary to have a discussion with Zhang Yu and her group about assigning dormitory cleaning tasks.
“Zhang Yu, we need to talk.”
At first, Zhang Yu and her group really thought it was a rat, but they soon realized it was Wang Sasa’s doing and were already feeling frustrated. Even if Wang Sasa hadn’t come to talk to them, they were planning to discuss the dorm cleaning tasks with her.
Wang Sasa cleared her throat and said, “Regardless of how you used to assign tasks, my suggestion is that each person takes a turn each week. Or, we can each be responsible for our own area.” She then turned to point at the dorm’s only trash can and continued, “Of course, if we’re each responsible for our own areas, you can’t throw things in the trash can. After all, it’s Tan Yixuan who bought it, not the school.”
Zhang Yu’s previous excuses to Tan Yixuan were bluntly returned by Wang Sasa.
Zhang Yu’s face turned red immediately, “Wang Shasha, did you throw the trash on the floor yesterday?”
Wang Sasa shrugged and said with a smirk, “So what if I did?” She argued, “Whoever’s trash it is should deal with it. I just returned it to you, what’s wrong with that?”
Zhang Yu, seeing Wang Sasa’s unrepentant attitude, was exasperated, “Even so, couldn’t you have waited for us to come back and discuss it? What if the teacher had conducted a surprise inspection and we lost points for the dorm?”
Wang Sasa tilted her head, surprised, “Dorm leader, are you afraid of losing points for the dorm?”
Zhang Yu was left speechless, her chest heaving rapidly, and could only glare at her furiously.
The next day during study period, Wang Sasa and Tan Yixuan were working on their homework when they saw the class adviser rush in and call Tan Yixuan out. Wang Sasa put down her pen and frowned.
When Tan Yixuan returned to the classroom, Wang Sasa saw her packing up her backpack and asked curiously, “Tan Yixuan, what are you doing?”
Tan Yixuan’s face showed an anxious expression as she quickly said, “My grandmother fainted and is in the hospital. I need to go see her.”
Wang Sasa’s heart skipped a beat. Thinking of Grandma Tan’s condition from the original story, she suddenly realized. Since the physical examination a few weeks ago, Tan Yixuan hasn’t mentioned anything about the examination results. Wang Sasa had assumed Grandma Tan was healthy and hadn’t followed up.
Wang Sasa took Tan Yixuan’s hand and said, “Don’t worry, we’ll go together.”
Wang Sasa took a leave from the teacher and they went directly to the hospital by taxi. As they reached the hospital room, they heard Grandma Tan chatting energetically. Wang Sasa looked at Tan Yixuan, who visibly relaxed, and couldn’t help but smile.
The two entered the room and saw Grandma Tan sitting on the hospital bed. Seeing them, she was momentarily stunned, “Yixuan, isn’t it class time today?”
Tan Yixuan paused and replied, “I asked for leave from the teacher. Grandma, why did you suddenly faint?”
Grandma Tan waved her hand dismissively, “It was probably just a heat stroke, it’s nothing. You two don’t need to worry about me, go back to school and attend your classes.”
Other patients in the same ward, seeing the two pretty girls, teased, “Your granddaughter is really filial.”
Grandma Tan appeared modest but was clearly pleased.
Wang Sasa watched Tan Yixuan and Grandma Tan talk and then began peeling oranges while sitting aside.
After they finished talking, Wang Sasa took Tan Yixuan to find the attending physician. If she hadn’t known the plot, she might have been deceived by Grandma Tan like Tan Yixuan was.
The attending physician was momentarily surprised to see two young girls.
Wang Sasa held Tan Yixuan’s hand and turned to the physician, “Doctor, how is Grandma Tan condition? She had a full-body check-up at the hospital before.”
The physician replied, “The patient has an abnormal heart valve function, which caused the sudden fainting.”
Tan Yixuan froze, gripping Wang Sasa’s hand tightly, and asked with difficulty, “Is it… serious?”
The doctor adjusted his glasses and said, “Since it was detected early, if surgery is performed now, the success rate is very high. Of course, the current condition can be managed with medication. But once medication control becomes ineffective and it progresses to stage VI, the situation won’t be optimistic. So I recommend you proceed with the surgery as soon as possible.”
Tan Yixuan gratefully said, “Thank you, doctor. I understand.”
Tan Yixuan let Wang Sasa lead her out of the office, biting her lip in self-reproach, “I never knew Grandma had heart problems.”
Wang Sasa patted her shoulder and comforted her, “It’s not too late to find out now. I checked just now, and the success rate of the surgery is very high, with a mortality rate of less than one percent!”
Tan Yixuan looked at her deeply and nodded with a smile.
A mechanical valve replacement surgery costs around 100,000 yuan per valve. Grandma Tan has health insurance, so the family only needs to cover about 50,000 yuan. However, Grandma Tan’s liquid funds were insufficient, and paying the 50,000 yuan immediately strained the family finances.
Seeing Tan Yixuan considering working to make up the shortfall, Wang Sasa thought of the Platinum Mansion and quickly said, “How about this: if you’re short on money, just come and tutor me.”
Tan Yixuan frowned at her, “Tutoring?”
Wang Sasa’s grades were even better than hers—why would she need tutoring?
Wang Sasa coughed and thought for a moment, then suddenly remembered her four lackeys and said, “Not tutoring me, but tutoring my four lackeys… I mean, tutoring Zhou Yunlu and the others.” Seeing Tan Yixuan’s doubtful expression, she explained, “They’re following another persona of mine, and if their grades are too poor, it would be embarrassing for me.”
Tan Yixuan wasn’t yet at the point of being desperate and, after thinking it over, declined, “Forget it, we’ll talk about it later.”
Wang Sasa didn’t insist. She just wanted to leave Tan Yixuan with an option so that if she needed money, she would think of her first.
Tan Yixuan understood Wang Sasa’s intentions and felt warm inside, like she had a piece of sweet chocolate in her mouth.
She couldn’t help but glance at her. Her hands had been trembling when she received the hospital call earlier. She couldn’t imagine what she would have done if her grandmother had experienced an accident. Fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm.
It seemed that every time she faced an emergency, Wang Sasa was by her side. Thinking of this, Tan Yixuan couldn’t help but hug Wang Sasa’s shoulders tightly.
Wang Sasa was momentarily stiff when suddenly hugged, but she quickly relaxed and returned the hug to Tan Yixuan with a smile, saying, “Don’t worry, I’m here.”
Tan Yixuan rested her head on Wang Sasa’s shoulder and, hearing this, tightened her grip and asked instinctively, “Will you always be here no matter what?”
Wang Sasa earnestly assured, “Of course. Look, aren’t I right here with you?”
Tan Yixuan slightly lifted her head, scrutinizing her for a bit too long. Wang Sasa’s smile was on the verge of fading, “What are you looking at?”
Tan Yixuan reached out and gently pinched her cheek, saying, “I’m checking if you’re lying. Do you believe I can tell if you’re speaking the truth or not?”
Wang Sasa felt a pang of nervousness and forced a smile, “Tan Yixuan, you’ve gotten a bit naughty. Learning to joke around with me now.”
Tan Yixuan lowered her gaze, gently stroking Wang Sasa’s cheek, her warm breath brushing against Wang Sasa’s face.
She almost lost someone important to her. She has so little, so she clings tightly to whatever she has. Therefore, she carefully considers everything she possesses.
Wang Sasa was something new to her. Even though she hadn’t figured out her feelings yet, she was already deeply attracted to her. But Wang Sasa was unknowingly elusive, making her feel both anxious and distant.
She suddenly realized that rather than fearing loss, it’s better to strive for it.
There is nothing scarier than death. Even if Wang Sasa rejected her and treated her as worthless, she could still secretly, carefully watch over her, right?
So, being disliked wasn’t a problem.
Tan Yixuan’s gaze was too intense, too mysterious, making Wang Sasa start sweating on her forehead.
Tan Yixuan gazed at her for a long time, then suddenly laughed, “Look at you being scared. I’m just joking.”
Wang Sasa opened her mouth and awkwardly laughed, “Really?”
At that moment, a taxi arrived.
Wang Sasa pulled Tan Yixuan into the car.
The driver was a plump middle-aged man. Seeing the two young girls on a workday, he asked curiously, “Aren’t you going to class?”
Wang Sasa and Tan Yixuan weren’t wearing school uniforms, but they looked young, leading the driver to mistake them for university students.
Wang Sasa was about to answer the driver’s question when her phone rang. Looking down, she saw it was Wei Qi calling. She hesitated, wondering if it was appropriate to chat with Wei Qi now that Tan Yixuan had just learned about her grandmother’s condition.
After all, even if she wanted to discourage Wei Qi, it had to be the right time.
Tan Yixuan noticed her phone screen and, with a flicker in her eyes and a smile, asked, “Aren’t you going to answer?”
Wang Sasa felt the atmosphere was a bit strange and her palms were sweaty. She wasn’t sure if she should press the answer button. Seeing Tan Yixuan watching her calmly, she gritted her teeth and answered the call.
Wei Qi: “Wang Shasha, why are you taking leave?”
Wang Sasa quickly explained Tan Yixuan’s situation and ended the call without chatting further.
At this point, the driver asked, “Young lady, is that your boyfriend?”
Wang Sasa quickly glanced at Tan Yixuan and firmly said, “No.”
Tan Yixuan suddenly asked, “Wang Sasa, will you be with Wei Qi?”
Wang Sasa, thinking of Tan Yixuan’s feelings for Wei Qi, fell silent for a moment and said, “What if I said yes? What would happen?”
Tan Yixuan stared at her for a while. Her clear eyes quickly became misty, with emotions flickering in them, hard to decipher.
What would happen? She lowered her head, giving a faint smile that made Wang Sasa’s skin crawl. Her fingers tightened on Wang Sasa’s shoulder.
“Probably… nothing much,” she murmured.
