Chapter 50: Your Fertilizer Is Better
“That’s how you grow it!”
Zhang Laopozi walked into Wu Xianhua’s vegetable garden, looking left and right, her eyes about to pop out.
“Oh my, this amaranth, it’s as tender and beautiful as you, Xianhua. And look at the cucumbers, so big and not old at all. Xianhua, you’re beautiful and you’re really capable!”
Wu Xianhua couldn’t stand this old woman. She knew right away why this old woman suddenly came over with a basket.
“Auntie, did you run out of vegetables at home? Why don’t you take some back?”
Wu Xianhua looked back at her. Zhang Laopozi was waiting for this. As soon as Wu Xianhua spoke, she couldn’t stop laughing.
She’s usually fierce and yells at everyone, but when she wants something from someone, she can instantly become a different person.
“How can I do that?”
Zhang Laopozi said this, but her hands were already picking vegetables.
It was probably because last time Wu Xianhua gave Wang Xueqi some vegetables and fruits, and after the girl took them home, Zhang Laopozi ate them and was amazed. She wanted more, so she came here with a thick face.
Her hands moved faster and faster, picking a lot of vegetables. Then she said with a smile, “Xianhua, thank you. Come visit Auntie sometime. My daughter is bringing a boyfriend home in a few days. Come and take a look and see what he’s like!”
Wu Xianhua smiled faintly, without any extra expression.
She had also heard that Wang Xueqi was being forced to marry. Although she hoped Wang Xueqi would stay away from Wang Dafu, and that getting married would completely prevent her from bothering her Dafu, she looked down on Zhang Laopozi, a mother like that, from the bottom of her heart.
Seeing that Wu Xianhua didn’t pay much attention to her, Zhang Laopozi hummed and laughed, carrying the basket and left.
As soon as she got home, Zhang Laopozi put the vegetables and fruits in the kitchen, treating them like treasures, hiding them carefully.
“You old woman, you went to her vegetable garden to pick vegetables? Did Wu Xianhua know?”
Wang Laotou saw his smelly wife carrying a basket into the kitchen, so he followed her. He knew right away what was going on.
“Go away! I picked them in front of Wu Xianhua. How could she not know?”
Wang Laotou was dissatisfied: “You’re shameless. How do you usually treat her?”
Zhang Laopozi immediately became angry: “Wang Laotou, what are you saying? How did I treat her, Wu Xianhua? Did I offend her? Humph! This young widow, without a man, but the vegetables she grows are so delicious, it’s a bit abnormal. You haven’t been to her vegetable garden, have you? It’s really an eye-opener! I suspect that little vixen must have a man helping her!”
Wang Laotou stared at his wife, his face cold: “Don’t talk nonsense. Who could be helping her? Isn’t it just that Wang Fool?”
“Wang Fool only has strength, he doesn’t know anything. I suspect there must be other men!”
Zhang Laopozi seemed to have grasped some secret, her eyes rolling, her face full of suspicion.
“Stop guessing. She’s innocent. It’s just you gossiping old women who are spreading rumors. Be careful she comes after you!”
Zhang Laopozi reached out and pinched Wang Laotou’s arm, using all her strength, pinching him until he cried out in pain.
“Crazy woman, let go, it hurts!”
“Wang Laotou, who are you siding with?”
Wang Laotou glared at Zhang Laopozi, gritting his teeth: “Crazy woman, you’re hopeless!”
At this time, Wang Xueqi in the yard heard the noise and ran into the kitchen. Seeing her father and mother fighting, she immediately went to pull them apart.
“Mom, let go!”
Zhang Laopozi snorted coldly, with a mean look on her face, shaking her head and laughing: “You two old geezers, get out of my sight!”
Wang Xueqi didn’t like her mother. She pulled Wang Laotou and wanted to go out.
Wang Laotou grumbled, “Damn it, I’ve been cursed for eight generations, marrying such a crazy woman…”
Zhang Laopozi was also furious and started to curse back.
Wang Xueqi listened to their quarreling quietly, with a look of despair. At this moment, she just wanted to escape this terrible home and find her own haven.
After the cursing, it finally became quiet. Wang Xueqi walked into the kitchen and asked, “Mom, why did you go to Wu Xianhua’s house to pick vegetables again?”
“Humph, the vegetables you brought back last time were too delicious. Your mom has never eaten such delicious vegetables before. Isn’t your blind date coming home in a few days? Your mom has to entertain him well. She needs to use these vegetables!”
Wang Xueqi sneered repeatedly. Her mother had never been so attentive to anyone before. This time, for a blind date she had never met, she had already prepared the ingredients. It was obvious how much her mother was looking forward to that little bit of betrothal money!
Wang Xueqi returned to the yard and ignored Zhang Laopozi.
All day long, Wu Xianhua was busy in the vegetable garden. Wang Dafu was in the watermelon field in the other valley, planting watermelons, laying down plastic sheeting, watering, and so on. Although it didn’t look very professional, it didn’t matter.
After spending half a day, he finished planting half of the land. Looking at the sun, Wang Dafu felt it was time to go home for lunch.
The sun was too strong and the temperature was too high. Fortunately, this was a valley, which was cooler than outside, and there was a spring nearby.
Wang Dafu dug a ditch with his hoe, diverting the spring water from the mountainside. Then, looking at the half-planted watermelon field, he opened the gourd lid and sprinkled the liquid inside evenly on the newly planted watermelon field.
The mysterious liquid was naturally scarce, only one gourd. Wang Dafu only sprinkled a little on each plot of land. This little bit was enough. Next, he just had to wait for the watermelon seedlings to grow quickly.
At noon, he returned home. Wu Xianhua was already busy in the kitchen, picking vegetables from the garden and cooking them for herself.
A bowl of stir-fried bitter melon, a bowl of chili egg, a bowl of braised meat, and some pickled vegetables.
Wang Dafu ate with gusto, praising Wu Xianhua’s cooking skills.
“Sister Xianhua, your cooking skills are amazing. It’s a shame you don’t open a restaurant!”
Wu Xianhua was also full of delicious food, her appetite was wide open. She shook her head and laughed, “My cooking skills are good, but the most important thing is that your fertilizer is better, so the vegetables are so delicious!”
Wang Dafu nodded and finished his meal in a few bites!
“Fool, slow down. No one is fighting you for it!”
Wang Dafu smiled. After finishing his meal, he prepared to take his usual afternoon nap.
At this time, Wu Xianhua walked into the main room, fanning herself while looking at Wang Dafu, and threw a thousand yuan at him.
“Dafu, take this thousand yuan and give it to Yanchun Jie when you have time.”
Wang Dafu looked at the thousand yuan in cash and asked, “Sister Xianhua, what’s this for?”
Wu Xianhua sat beside Wang Dafu, “This is the money you owe Yanchun Jie. It’s been a long time, and it’s time to pay it back. Go and deliver it.”
Wang Dafu didn’t know that Sister Xianhua had borrowed money from Yanchun Jie. According to their previous relationship, Sister Xianhua shouldn’t have borrowed money from Yanchun Jie.
“Okay, I’ll go now. I won’t be back later. I’ll go straight to the field. I need to finish planting all the watermelon seedlings today!”
With that, Wang Dafu took his tools, carrying the thousand yuan, and hurried out of the yard.
