Chapter 109: Promises Made Must Be Kept
“Is it very sour?” Hu Yao looked at her with a hint of apology and quickly found another candy from her pocket to give her.
Du Ximei quickly ate it, another sour plum candy!
She quickly spat it out, wrapped it in the candy paper, and planned to take it home for Song Sikai later so it wouldn’t be wasted.
“Chaochao, do you want some orange?” She smiled and looked down at Jiang Xiaochao, handing him the remaining orange flesh in her hand.
Jiang Xiaochao covered his little mouth and shook his head repeatedly, very resistant.
“Okay, then I’ll take it home for your Uncle Sikai.” Du Ximei sighed.
Speaking of Song Sikai, Song Sikai came to find her. She didn’t tell him when she went out. He went out for a while and came back to find her not at home, so he was very worried.
“I went to Sister Wenwen’s place, and my sister is with me.” Du Ximei said in a sweet voice, looking particularly well-behaved towards him.
Song Sikai breathed a sigh of relief and rubbed her head: “Tell me where you’re going next time, I’ll be very worried if I can’t find you.”
“I know.” Du Ximei blinked.
The two of them sent Hu Yao and Jiang Xiaochao home first, then walked home together, talking along the way. Their side-by-side figures looked incredibly harmonious and well-matched.
Hu Yao slowly retracted her gaze, still feeling something strange. Perhaps it was because she knew that Du Ximei wasn’t truly that “well-behaved,” and Song Sikai had changed so much, she still wasn’t used to seeing them like this…
“Uncle Sikai is here, so my godmother isn’t fierce!” Jiang Xiaochao also noticed this.
Hu Yao coughed lightly and pushed down his hair that was being blown by the wind: “Because your godmother likes Uncle Sikai, she won’t be fierce to the people she likes. Look, isn’t your Uncle Sikai also very nice to your godmother?”
“Then why is Dad still fierce?” Jiang Xiaochao was curious: “Dad loves me and Mom! He’s still fierce! Humph!”
Hu Yao didn’t know how to answer him this time, so she changed the subject and asked him to go feed his little cow some grass.
She thought he would forget about it soon.
But his little head kept remembering. When Jiang Han came back in the evening, he immediately ran to him and asked, depressed, if he didn’t love him and Hu Yao.
Jiang Han didn’t know what he was doing again, so he kicked him away and said very perfunctorily: “I love you guys to death!”
“Then if you love me and Mom, don’t always be fierce to us! Mom said that if you like someone, you can’t be fierce to them! Me and Mom are like that too!”
“Did your mom tell you to say this?” Jiang Han became interested and pulled him back.
“……”
Hu Yao quietly cooked, pretending not to hear their father and son talking.
“If you have any opinions, tell me directly, don’t let Jiang Fuchao pass on any messages!”
At night, he held her in his usual position, his arms around her, fragrant and soft after taking a bath. He was in a good mood.
Hu Yao was drowsy and didn’t understand what he meant by that, but thinking back to what he said last night, she was a little depressed.
“You said I can’t express my opinion.”
Jiang Han held her hand that had been injured, looked at it, and saw that it was healing well. He gently wrapped her whole hand in his.
“I said don’t mention it in bed, not that you can’t mention it outside of bed!”
Before he went to sleep, he always liked to touch her, even if he didn’t really touch her, he would kiss and touch, pinch this and pinch that.
Hu Yao sleepily and sluggishly held his hand. She didn’t take a nap at noon and was very sleepy now. She softly called his name, asking him to stop moving, her voice was sticky and soft: “Jiang Han, I’m sleepy.”
Her voice had always been very nice, clear and pure, now it was soft with sleepiness, like a hook that had hooked him.
He actually liked listening to her call his name, it had a peculiar and strange feeling. Whether it was before or now, he was inexplicably softened when she called him like that.
“Go to sleep.” He pulled back the hand that had been indulging in his rogue behavior and had slipped into her clothes, his expression softened, and he tucked the quilt around her.
As soon as he finished speaking, she fell asleep in his arms within a minute. Her breathing was even and long, her soft hand still held his arm.
He moved slightly, and she subconsciously hugged him tighter, as if afraid he would disappear.
Suddenly, Jiang Han’s mood inexplicably improved. He lowered his head and kissed her smooth forehead.
There was a faint scar on the place where her hair covered her temples and hairline, and another on the back of her head. It was evidence of the two times she was hurt by others.
Jiang Han looked at it and couldn’t help but frown again. He glared at her sleeping face with annoyance.
How did she grow up? She was bullied all the time, her brain was almost smashed into tofu! It would have been better if he hadn’t returned her to Hu Guifen back then, just let her be raised by that old hunter as a child bride, listening to his teasing words.
No matter what, she would still have to return to him and be his wife, so why bother with the three hundred yuan!
He gently smoothed her messy hair and seriously thought back to the little girl she once was, suddenly feeling a little regret. But then he clicked his tongue.
Did he owe her something? He didn’t take the little girl home to raise back then, but he still had to raise her when she was only a few years old and her brain was broken! She was just as noisy!
Hu Yao slept soundly, unaware of the many things he was thinking about. She also forgot that when Hu Guifen abandoned her on the mountain, the dog that found her first was raised by Jiang Han, and it was Jiang Han who sent her down the mountain with the old hunter. She was so scared and crying that she didn’t remember much.
The next day, when she woke up, Hu Yao felt warm all over. Before she opened her eyes, she knew she was still in his arms.
His embrace was warm and broad, undeniably comforting and reassuring.
“You sleep like a pig.” He seemed to know she was already awake and said it over her head. He had just woken up too, his magnetic and clear voice had a lazy and casual tone.
“You even drool.”
Hu Yao was startled and didn’t quite believe him. She propped herself up slightly and leaned closer to look at his clothes. She never drooled in her sleep.
Her loose hair brushed against his face, making it itchy. Jiang Han reached out and brushed it away.
“You won’t drool if you don’t hug me to sleep in the future–>>
“Drooling.” Hu Yao looked at the wet spot on his clothes where she had been leaning, feeling a little embarrassed. She couldn’t refute his words.
She thought it was because he was sleeping on his side with his face pressed against hers that she drooled.
“Did I say I disliked it? Do you think I’m like you? So petty.” Jiang Han glanced at her, genuinely not disgusted by the bit of drool, and even praised her in a low voice.
“Your brain is better than before, only drooling, not singing to people in the middle of the night, eating candy and then chewing on bread!”
She was also quite clean, after secretly finishing her food, she knew to wake him up to wash her hands.
Hu Yao: “…”
“I didn’t!” She didn’t want to admit it.
“No way! You dare deny it?!” Jiang Han reached out to pinch her face.
Hu Yao’s face was slightly wooden, she gave up: “My brain was broken before, I don’t remember.”
“No memory means it didn’t happen? From now on, what I say is what it is!” Jiang Han’s eyebrows rose slightly, he thought of something and became interested: “You may not remember, but promises made must be kept! Got it?”
