Chapter 171: Your Brother Seems Quite Arrogant
The mother and son had no memory of what happened before, and they both used their eyes to accuse Jiang Han.
Jiang Han didn’t bother to argue with them.
After breakfast, the doctor came to check on Hu Yao. He asked her to continue sleeping, as she had slept late last night and only got a few hours of sleep this morning.
But the hospital was noisy, and Hu Yao couldn’t sleep well.
The woman who gave birth at the same time as her yesterday was in the same ward. She had a difficult labor and gave birth to a daughter, miraculously saving both her own life and her child’s.
But her mother-in-law was very unhappy, scolding her and the child for being burdens.
Perhaps she had endured enough, and having just walked through the gates of death, her daughter-in-law finally snapped. She yelled back at her mother-in-law, even threatening to divorce her husband.
They started arguing and even throwing things at each other.
The woman had just given birth and was still weak from the ordeal. She was at a disadvantage, and the older woman’s sharp, sarcastic voice was incredibly piercing. Even from several wards away, Hu Yao could hear her scolding clearly.
Their fight even spilled out into the corridor. The older woman had the upper hand against her daughter-in-law, but she wasn’t satisfied. She dragged her weak daughter-in-law out into the corridor and loudly berated her, making up stories to strangers about how terrible her daughter-in-law was and how unlucky they were to have married her into their family.
During the struggle, her daughter-in-law fainted, causing a commotion. The medical staff rushed to help, calming the situation and carrying the fainted woman back to her room.
Things were quiet for a short while, but then the older woman’s son, who had just returned from a business trip, arrived. After learning the whole story and hearing his mother’s exaggerated version of events, he was distressed about his wife wanting a divorce. He begged his mother to stop making a scene.
The older woman was furious to hear her son taking his wife’s side. She started throwing a tantrum, yelling and screaming.
She continued to make a fuss, even saying she would kill herself to show her son.
As she was yelling, she really did climb onto the window ledge in the corridor, cursing her son for being heartless and calling her daughter-in-law a reincarnation of a fox spirit.
She was spitting insults with such force that she lost her balance and fell.
Hu Yao heard the doctor’s short, panicked scream from her ward, followed by a flurry of commotion and then silence.
“…”
“Mommy, they stopped fighting.” Jiang Xiaochao, squatting at the door, had listened to the whole thing and ran back to tell Hu Yao, so she could go back to sleep.
“She fell down and stopped talking.” Jiang Xiaochao looked like she was relieved that the woman was finally quiet.
Hu Yao subconsciously looked towards the window, wondering what floor they were on.
“You can’t die from a two-story fall.” Jiang Han glanced at her, knowing what she was thinking.
If that foul-mouthed woman really wanted to die, she should have jumped from the top floor. But pretending to accidentally fall from the second floor, she was asking for it.
The older woman, who was quite old, didn’t actually die from the fall from the second floor, but she was seriously injured.
She had been taken to the hospital for treatment, and the entire ward was finally peaceful.
“Brother slept yesterday, and he’s sleeping today too.” Jiang Xiaochao lay beside Jiang Fuheng, staring at him for a long time. “He doesn’t even play.”
“Tell him to get up and go herd cows with you.” Jiang Han was speechless.
Jiang Xiaochao was actually tempted to wake Jiang Fuheng up. He had dreamed of herding cows with his brother last night!
But before she could call him, Hu Yao grabbed her little hand and patiently explained that her brother was still too young and could only sleep and drink milk. He would be able to play with her when he grew up.
“He doesn’t even know how to play, he’s even dumber than me!” She was surprised to tell Jiang Han.
“You two are very glorious?” Jiang Han snorted.
Hu Yao: “…”
She didn’t know what to say.
She had slept poorly the night before, falling asleep to the intermittent conversations of the father and son, and then everything was quiet.
She didn’t know how long she had slept, but when she woke up, she saw Du Ximei and the others sitting quietly in chairs, watching her and the child, motionless. The scene was a little strange.
“Mommy is awake! Auntie, we can talk now!” Jiang Xiaochao took her hand away from her mouth and happily announced.
After Hu Yao fell asleep, Jiang Han had forbidden her from talking, saying she was noisy. He had made the same request after Du Ximei and the others arrived.
Hu Yao was confused as she slowly sat up.
“Auntie is so amazing, she gave birth to a little person!” Qiu Yarong leaned over to Hu Yao and sincerely praised her, then looked at Jiang Fuheng.
She had just taken a nap, and Hu Yao’s baby was born. When Qiu Yingwen told her about it, she was very excited.
Hu Yao didn’t know how to respond for a moment. Seeing her curious expression, she smiled and patted her little head.
Jiang Fuheng was a little lazy. Maybe he remembered Jiang Han saying he was stupid, because even when he woke up, he didn’t open his eyes much. He remained closed and still.
If you touched him too much, he would frown, squint at you with half-open eyes, and look indifferent.
“Jiang Fuchao, your brother seems quite arrogant.” Jiang Han clicked his tongue.
“Really?” Jiang Xiaochao leaned over to look, but couldn’t figure it out.
“Brother’s hands are so small, they’re much smaller than mine.” Jiang Xiaochao now loved comparing her brother’s hands to hers.
Her brother was so small and still, she couldn’t tell if he was arrogant or not. She didn’t pay much attention to Jiang Han’s words and soon started grabbing his little hand and poking his little foot.
Qiu Yarong had never seen such a small baby before, so she stood around watching him for a long time. She didn’t dare touch him like Jiang Xiaochao did.
Du Ximei wanted to hold him but didn’t dare. Jiang Fuheng was so tiny, like he had no bones. She was afraid of accidentally hurting him, so she just stood there watching.
Jiang Fuheng, like a little monkey, was looked at for a long time, not only by Du Ximei and the others, but also by Liu Grandpa, Liu Grandma, and Zhao Jiaxing. They all came to see him, and they were all happy to see him.
They wanted to hold him, but as soon as they did, Jiang Fuheng wouldn’t be happy, he would hum and grumble, and would calm down once they put him down.
He seemed to only allow Hu Yao and Jiang Han to hold him, no one else.
After testing this back and forth, Hu Yao couldn’t help but find it amusing, was he recognizing people so early, he was so small, just born.
Hu Yao held him back in her arms, her eyes filled with amusement as she looked at him, he slowly opened his eyes, also looking at her blankly, his eyes were innocent and clear, bright and watery.
“Hengheng, be good.” Hu Yao’s smile deepened.
Jiang Han glanced at the two of them, handed her the peeled apple, what was she laughing so happily at, a little thing with no teeth, he couldn’t even talk to her.
“What do you want for lunch?”
Seeing her slowly finish the apple, he asked.
The hospital canteen didn’t have any good food, he would go to the market later…
