Dressed as a Cannon Fodder White Moonlight, I Attracted a Big Shot from the Capital Circle Chapter 21 – The Engagement

When Fu Chengyu saw that Shen Nanxing remained silent, he continued, “Nanxing, my heart belongs only to you, and it will never belong to anyone else.” His words were filled with deep affection, and his gaze was fixed on Shen Nanxing. Ugh… However, Shen Nanxing felt a wave of nausea. “Why did no one warn me that Fu Chengyu is this greasy? How can someone like him be the male lead in a novel?” Shen Nanxing silently complained in his mind.

Quickly interrupting him, Shen Nanxing firmly stated, “Fu Chengyu, enough! Yes, we have an engagement, but that doesn’t mean the engagement can’t be called off!” He then glanced at Lin Bai, who seemed on the verge of breaking down, and added, “Lin Bai, you can just wait for the lawyer’s letter.”

With that, Shen Nanxing left the office without hesitation, leaving behind a tense atmosphere. After a while, the dean sighed, looking disappointed at Lin Bai. “You… Why are you so stubborn? After reading so many books, was it all for nothing?” If Lin Bai had just apologized properly, this matter would have been over for everyone’s good, but instead, he made it worse by playing the victim.

Lin Bai awkwardly lowered his head, not daring to face the others’ anger. Fu Chengyu, hearing Shen Nanxing directly say she wanted to break off the engagement, felt a wave of fear, as if he were about to lose something very important to him. Without thinking, he rushed out to follow her.

Lin Bai, seeing this, apologized to the others and followed Fu Chengyu out. After today’s events, everyone’s attention was now focused on the “Fu Chengyu and Shen Nanxing have an engagement” issue. It was just a minute or two’s delay, but Fu Chengyu, in his anxiety, couldn’t even catch a glimpse of Shen Nanxing’s figure. As he was about to pull out his phone to call her, Lin Bai stopped him.

Lin Bai lowered his head, looking guilty. “Senior Fu, I’m sorry, I didn’t expect things to develop like this. I’m really sorry…”

Fu Chengyu clicked his tongue, a trace of displeasure flashing across his face as he questioned, “Does this have anything to do with you?”

Lin Bai seemed startled by his tone, his body trembling slightly. He looked at Fu Chengyu defiantly, “So, this is how you see me?” He then lowered his head sadly, just enough for Fu Chengyu to see the ambiguous mark on his neck.

Seeing Lin Bai’s pitiful expression, Fu Chengyu’s heart softened, and his attitude became gentler. “I just want to get to the bottom of this. If you don’t tell me, how can I help you handle this situation?”

Unexpectedly, after hearing this, Lin Bai’s expression became even more resolute. “I don’t need your help. I did nothing wrong. You’re engaged to her, so we should keep our distance.”

If anyone else were present, they would probably comment, “Why does this reek of green tea vibes?” Unfortunately, the only one present was Fu Chengyu, who seemed to like this kind of behavior.

Fu Chengyu quickly tried to comfort him, “Okay, okay, I won’t ask anymore. I’ll take care of things from here on out.” Lin Bai huffed, then left.

Fu Chengyu smiled smugly, “A Bai, you will come to find me yourself!” After Lin Bai interrupted him, Fu Chengyu completely forgot the purpose of chasing after Shen Nanxing and brushed it off, focusing entirely on Lin Bai instead.

As soon as Shen Nanxing left the administrative building, she ran into Xia Zimu and Zhou He.

She thought to herself: “These two aren’t here to talk about Lin Bai, are they? Can I understand this as the big boss not getting his way, so the second and third bosses are here to help Lin Bai get justice???” Xia Zimu casually draped his arm over Zhou He’s shoulder and appeared next to Shen Nanxing. Zhou He’s expression was indifferent, and his voice cold, “Nanxing, why are you alone? Where’s Fu Chengyu?”

Before Shen Nanxing could respond, Xia Zimu quickly answered, “Isn’t it obvious? He must have upset little Nanxing again.” He nudged Zhou He with his elbow and teased, “Oh, bro, I’m not saying it, but you’re always scowling like that. It’s no wonder little Nanxing doesn’t want to talk to you.”

Zhou He’s face stiffened slightly, looking a bit unpleasant. He had always looked this way since childhood; it was a habit, and there was nothing he could do about it. Seeing that Zhou He might lose his temper, Xia Zimu quickly changed the subject, “Alright, alright, I was just joking. Why are you so touchy? You’re a man; you should be more generous. With that attitude, how are you ever going to get a wife?”

Zhou He, seeing that Xia Zimu was getting further out of line, quietly warned him, “Shut up, don’t forget why we’re here.”

Xia Zimu, reminded by his warning, finally remembered the matter at hand. He cleared his throat and hurriedly called out to Shen Nanxing, who was about to leave. “Hey, little Nanxing, don’t hurry off, we have something serious to talk to you about.”

Shen Nanxing felt a headache coming on and gave him a look of complete confusion. She asked impatiently, “What do you want?” Was this really about Lin Bai?

Zhou He, with a serious expression, looked at her, “Nanxing, we just found out about what happened at school these past few days. I’m sorry you had to go through this.” He was busy with his upcoming graduation and had just taken over the company. He hadn’t even known this had anything to do with him until Xia Zimu mentioned it. He couldn’t believe that the people at school had nothing better to do than misunderstand him talking with Nanxing. He had always considered Shen Nanxing like a little brother, so what was going on?

Shen Nanxing was a bit surprised. She had been preparing to reject whatever he was about to say, but it turned out Zhou He was here to apologize.

“What are you apologizing to me for?”

Zhou He looked at the person in front of him, a faint smile crossing his eyes. He knew Shen Nanxing was soft-hearted.

“Of course, it has something to do with me. If I hadn’t insisted on pulling you that day, no one would have misunderstood,” Zhou He said.

Shen Nanxing shot him a glare, turning her face arrogantly to avoid looking at him. “Hmph.”

Xia Zimu, standing beside them, tried to mediate, “Little Nanxing, don’t be mad. I’ll teach Zhou He a lesson for you, that bastard, and I’ll give Lin Bai, who likes to spread nonsense online, a good beating too. If you’re still not satisfied, I’ll beat up Fu Chengyu as well.” He kicked Zhou He playfully and ran up to Shen Nanxing, acting as though he had earned some credit. “Anyway, those three deserve a good beating! Little Nanxing, I’m on your side.” He raised his hand in an exaggerated oath, looking at Shen Nanxing with utmost sincerity.

Shen Nanxing’s expression softened a bit, and she glanced at Xia Zimu before shaking her head and sighing, “Xia Zimu, your eyes aren’t quite right.” There were so many people to like, yet he had to fall for Lin Bai. Although they hadn’t met formally yet, Shen Nanxing was certain that Xia Zimu would eventually like Lin Bai in the end.

When Zhou He heard Shen Nanxing’s comment about Xia Zimu’s poor eyesight, he felt a slight sense of comfort from being acknowledged, though in a mocking way. He smirked and said, “You deserve it for being a bootlicker!”

Xia Zimu shot Zhou He a glare, then turned back to Shen Nanxing. “Little Nanxing, where are my eyes not working? I just had a health check recently, and my naked eyesight is 5.0. Where’s the problem?”
