Tang You’s heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was about to leap out of her throat. What had started as a plan to quietly outsmart the man had suddenly turned into a face-to-face confrontation.
The “big-character poster” filled with her indignation was lying quietly at the man’s feet, fluttering slightly in the wind as if it might flip over any second, revealing the words on the other side.
The man had already spoken, and Tang You was desperately trying to calm her racing heart. She forced herself to look straight ahead, pretending not to recognize or be interested in striking up a conversation with Zhou Qinyao as she slowly walked towards the alley entrance.
“You must have mistaken me for someone else,” she said.
As she walked past Zhou Qinyao, she discreetly stepped on the paper on the ground. Since the back of the paper had adhesive on it, it easily stuck to the bottom of her shoe.
She hoped to sneak away with it unnoticed, but—
A long leg casually extended out, blocking her path.
Tang You’s heart skipped a beat. Though she was already panicking inside, she forced herself to stay calm and said firmly, “I told you, I don’t know you.”
“Don’t know me?”
Zhou Qinyao chuckled softly, as if he could see right through her thoughts. He slowly bent down and lifted Tang You’s leg, retrieving the paper from under her foot.
Tang You: “…”
Just before Zhou Qinyao’s eyes fell on the paper, Tang You considered grabbing it back, but it was already too late.
The man saw everything.
His eyes, dark and cold, slowly lifted to stare at Tang You, filled with an emotion that was hard to describe.
A mix of absurdity and mockery.
Zhou Qinyao held up the paper and asked in a lazy tone, “What does this mean?”
After a few seconds of silence, Tang You’s cheeks flushed slightly, but her voice carried a hint of hidden resilience:
“Don’t you already know what it means?”
Playing dumb, pretending!
It had come to this, and Tang You bit her lower lip, deciding to summon all her courage and finally vent the frustration she had held back since noon:
“Don’t you have any idea of what you did?”
Zhou Qinyao lowered his head and looked at the two lines printed on the paper again—
**”This person is a pervert! Dangerous!”**
**”Girls, stay away!”**
The text was even bolded.
He smiled ambiguously, not saying anything.
But his body slowly leaned towards Tang You, and in the narrow dead-end alley, she was soon backed into a corner.
Zhou Qinyao had completely blocked any way for her to escape.
He deliberately trapped her in the tight space, his voice dropping low as he said:
“And how exactly am I a pervert, huh? Want to demonstrate it for me?”
“…”
Tang You, cornered by the man, was in a panic, thinking something terrible was about to happen. She closed her eyes and frantically tried to push him away, her face flushing red:
“Move away! Do you believe I won’t scream?”
After what felt like an eternity—”Miss.”
Zhou Qinyao chuckled softly, “If anyone’s going to scream, it seems like it should be me first.”
His deep, magnetic voice fell lazily: “Why are you trying to take off my clothes?”
Tang You was stunned and opened her eyes.
The zipper of the man’s leather jacket had been pulled halfway down by her, and even the collar of the t-shirt underneath was askew, revealing one side of his collarbone.
It was both sexy and cold.
“…”
Tang You had never looked at a man’s body so closely, even if it was just a small glimpse.
Her face turned an even deeper shade of red, quickly followed by a wave of inexplicable shame and anger.
She shoved the man away with all her strength, fleeing in a panic. After a few steps, she still couldn’t shake her anger and turned back to shout sternly:
“I won’t let a pervert who grabs people’s butts get away with it!”
Zhou Qinyao froze for a moment, as if he had just heard a joke. “Me? Grab you?”
Even saying such words out loud made Tang You feel embarrassed, but perhaps it was the man’s earlier teasing that had thrown her off balance and made her lose her composure.
Just at that moment, she felt a light, fleeting touch on her butt.
It was the exact same sensation as yesterday…
It was like pouring oil on the fire—Tang You’s ears quickly turned red as she pointed at Zhou Qinyao without thinking, “You still—”
Before she could finish her sentence, she realized something was off.
This man was standing right in front of her. It couldn’t have been him.
Almost simultaneously, a noise caught Tang You’s attention. She turned around to see a small remote-controlled plane crash at her feet.
Not far away, a boy of about ten years old held a remote control, apologetically pointing at his own butt and saying to her, “Sister, I’m sorry, I bumped into you here again.”
Tang You remembered the boy from earlier that afternoon when she passed by the locust tree. He had been playing with his remote-controlled plane, which seemed to fly haphazardly because he wasn’t very skilled at controlling it.
The fact that he used the word “again” now suggested…
Tang You stood there, somewhat bewildered, as she came to terms with the truth.
As the boy, Song Xiaoyang, picked up his plane, he muttered to himself, “Brother Yao said if you bump into someone, you should apologize. I’m good, I apologized.”
Then, he ran off happily.
