At that moment, Cheng Xuan finally understood why this girl had such an irresistible charm.

“Thank me?” Cheng Xuan slowly chewed her gum. “Just saying it isn’t enough.”

Tang You’s eyelashes fluttered, and after a moment of surprise, she politely asked, “So, how would you like me to thank you?”

Cheng Xuan thought for a moment and then deliberately made things difficult for her. “I heard you study music? How about singing a song for me?”

Tang You had originally thought she would be asked to treat them to a meal, but this was the first time someone had requested a song as a form of thanks.

Indeed, the students at Fifth High had unique and unusual ideas.

Tang You was very grateful for Cheng Xuan’s help earlier, and singing wasn’t a difficult task for her. However, she pondered over what song to sing.

As she hesitated, Cheng Xuan smiled inwardly.

In fact, Cheng Xuan just wanted to see if Tang You was truly sweet and innocent or if she was a cunning “green tea” girl.

These students from the international class often had their noses in the air. Cheng Xuan didn’t believe Tang You would actually sing.

Just as she was about to lose interest and walk away, the girl in front of her suddenly cleared her throat. “Then I’ll sing now.”

Cheng Xuan: “?”

In the next moment—

“With a grateful heart, I thank you for being with me throughout my life…”

The gum Cheng Xuan was chewing so energetically suddenly got stuck in her teeth.

After tensely listening for more than ten seconds, she finally raised her hand. “Stop!”

Was this girl trying to throw a gratitude concert right here?

Cheng Xuan was both amused and exasperated. “Alright, that’s enough.”

Tang You hadn’t finished singing. “Huh?”

“Your name is Tang You, right?”

Cheng Xuan walked over and skillfully draped an arm over Tang You’s shoulder. “From now on, I’ll be looking out for you. If anyone dares to bully you, just mention my name, Cheng Xuan.”

“Oh, Cheng Xuan.” Tang You softly repeated the name.

Cheng Xuan suddenly leaned in. “What do you think? Isn’t my name pretty cool?”

“…” Tang You was momentarily stunned, then smiled and nodded.

“Yeah, it’s cool.”

Her smile was lovely, with two small dimples at the corners of her mouth, gentle and sweet. It was like a warm spring breeze, a smile that could melt anyone’s heart.

At that moment, Cheng Xuan sincerely felt that if she were a guy, she wouldn’t last more than three seconds in front of this smiling girl.

This was probably what people called “instant chemistry.” Originally, Cheng Xuan had gone to see Tang You with a bit of hostility, but upon meeting her, she immediately changed her mind.

What Cheng Xuan didn’t know was that her own straightforwardness and free spirit were exactly what Tang You had always longed for but couldn’t attain.

Having gained a new little sister, Cheng Xuan enthusiastically invited everyone to the newly opened restaurant outside the school for a meal.

As they approached the back gate, Cheng Xuan’s phone rang. She answered, said a few words, then waved at someone across the street, and turned around to say, “Wait here for a moment. I’ll go grab something.”

Tang You nodded, watching as Cheng Xuan crossed the road and stopped in front of a motorcycle.

The figure lounging on the bike…

Tang You’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

Could it be him?

After Zhou Qinyao handed a bag to Cheng Xuan, he turned and walked away, his entire demeanor exuding an unapproachable coldness.

Cheng Xuan then ran back to Tang You’s side. “Let’s go.”

Tang You had been too focused on watching Zhou Qinyao and didn’t notice Cheng Xuan approaching. She hastily averted her gaze. “Oh, okay.”

When they arrived at the restaurant and were waiting for the food, one of the girls couldn’t help but ask Cheng Xuan out of curiosity, “Sister Xuan, who was that handsome guy earlier?”

Tang You’s heart skipped a beat, and she couldn’t resist looking up, only to see Cheng Xuan lighting a slim cigarette, blowing out a smoke ring, and smiling slyly. “That’s my boyfriend. Jealous?”

All the girls sighed in mock sorrow. “Jealous to tears…”

Tang You stayed silent, quietly letting out a breath.

So, they were a couple.

What a small world.

Something inside her twisted uncomfortably, a strange feeling.

But Tang You thought—

They really did match each other well, both the type to live freely and without restraint.

Unlike herself, dull and boring.

Cheng Xuan and the others moved on to different topics, and in the lively restaurant, no one heard Tang You quietly sigh.

When they returned to class after the meal, Li Shiyu was noticeably more subdued. As a result, the entire afternoon passed peacefully.

At 6:30, as school ended, Tang You ran into Cheng Xuan again at the back gate. Cheng Xuan called out to her, “Youyou, want to walk home together?”

It was only after she spoke that Cheng Xuan noticed the chauffeured car parked next to Tang You.

Fang Lai had arranged for a driver to follow Tang You everywhere, taking her to and from school each day.
