Dressed as a Cannon Fodder White Moonlight, I Attracted a Big Shot from the Capital Circle Chapter 80 – The Truth (1)

Zhou He had stayed in the hospital room with Xia Zimu overnight. After Qiao Yun and the others arrived, he quickly left the hospital. However, he didn’t head to the company; instead, he had his assistant drive him to the Fengye Club. Upon arrival, Zhou He led his assistant straight to the club’s manager. His expression was firm and urgent as he directly asked, “What exactly happened yesterday? Why did the accident occur?”

The manager, a man in his thirties, noticed Zhou He’s forceful demeanor, which made him cautious in his response. “Are you referring to Mr. Xia’s incident?” Zhou He emanated an unyielding coldness as he responded, “I need to know every detail.”

The manager wiped an imaginary bead of sweat from his forehead, trembling as he said, “I’m not entirely sure about yesterday’s events. How about I have Coach Li explain it to you?” Coach Li was the person who had received Zhou He’s call yesterday.

Zhou He remained composed and thought for a moment before asking, “Where is he?”

“I’ll call him now,” the manager replied, pulling out his phone. While he made the call, Zhou He instructed his assistant to ask around, seeing if anyone else had noticed anything unusual yesterday. Soon, Coach Li arrived. He appeared to be just in his early thirties, with an enthusiastic and easy-going personality.

“You must be Muzi’s friend, right? I was the one who took the call for him yesterday,” Coach Li said, extending his hand to greet Zhou He.

Zhou He responded coldly with a brief nod, shaking his hand before quickly releasing it. “Coach Li, how exactly did Mu Mu get into the accident yesterday?”

Coach Li fell into thought, recalling the events. “The club was relatively empty yesterday. When Muzi arrived, he was feeling down. He immediately said he wanted to run a couple of laps to warm up.”

“I thought he might feel better after running a few laps, so I gave him the car keys.”

“It’s strange, though. His speed wasn’t fast. There was no issue in the first two laps, but when he was nearing the curve on the third lap, the bike seemed to lose control and rushed straight into the guardrail…”

“At that moment, the engine sounded odd too…”

“Seeing the accident, I rushed over right away, but he had already passed out. The scene was in chaos… When the ambulance arrived, you called, so I answered for him.”

As Zhou He listened, his brow furrowed tighter, and his face darkened. “Besides you, who else was present yesterday? Has anyone inspected the vehicle to determine what caused the accident?”

“You club has some responsibility in this matter! Why wasn’t the vehicle checked beforehand?” Coach Li quickly named several other individuals, and with a sincere attitude, he replied, “The club will definitely take full responsibility for this, Mr. Zhou.”

Zhou He coldly asked, “Do you have surveillance footage? I want to see it!”

Coach Li looked at the manager with an inquiring gaze, and the manager nodded.

“Okay, follow me.” Zhou He followed them into the surveillance room. The security guard in the room quickly retrieved all the footage from yesterday concerning Xia Zimu. Zhou He, with a furrowed brow, intently stared at the screen, not letting any detail slip by.

In the footage, Xia Zimu appeared in a sleek motorcycle suit, wearing a helmet, exuding an air of confidence. He walked onto the track, mounted the motorcycle, and began the intense race. He sped around the track lap after lap, his speed almost blurring the lines, every turn and acceleration precise, showcasing his exceptional skills and familiarity with the track.

However, behind this seemingly perfect performance, there was an unknown danger. In the third lap, the engine emitted a strange, guttural sound, and while attempting the turn, the bike seemed to lose control and crashed into the guardrail. The bike and Xia Zimu were both sent flying due to inertia, the heavy bike crushing down on Xia Zimu’s body, with his left leg being the first to be pinned.

Zhou He felt a sharp pain as he watched the footage, his eyes reddening.

But it wasn’t over yet. The first person to reach the scene was Coach Li. He immediately called 120 and then attempted to lift the bike off Xia Zimu, but with just one person, it was obviously not enough. He began calling for help loudly. Others soon arrived, and together, they managed to move the bike off. Xia Zimu was covered in blood and unconscious.

Zhou He’s heart sank even further as he saw this. How much pain must Mu Mu have felt?

In the footage, the others who witnessed the bloody scene displayed expressions of horror, unable to look directly at it.

Zhou He carefully observed the reactions of the people in the video and noticed that the person on the far left appeared to be acting strangely. Normally, when faced with such a scene, people would typically panic or feel fearful, but this person seemed a bit guilty, his eyes flickering as though he couldn’t bear to look at Mu Mu. This unusual behavior sparked suspicion in Zhou He’s mind. Could this accident be related to him? The thought flashed through his mind, and his gaze turned sharper. He pointed at the person and urgently asked, “Where is this person now?”

Coach Li, puzzled, asked, “What’s wrong? Is something off?”

“I have some questions I need to ask him in person!” Zhou He’s voice was firm and unquestionable. His instinct told him that this incident was definitely connected to this person.

Coach Li immediately responded, “After Muzi’s accident yesterday, he must have been shaken up. He didn’t come to the club today.”

Zhou He sneered, “I don’t think he was shaken up; I think he’s guilty and is too afraid to show up.”

As soon as Zhou He said this, Coach Li’s expression became serious, “Mr. Zhou, we need to have evidence for everything!”

“Evidence? Then why don’t I just call the police? We’ll get all the evidence we need then,” Zhou He said, his frustration now directed at Coach Li for defending the person. His attitude toward Coach Li immediately cooled.

Both Coach Li and the manager quickly agreed, “I didn’t call him immediately. Mr. Zhou, please don’t act impulsively.”

Zhou He dismissed their pleas and focused intently on the surveillance footage. At that moment, his assistant approached. Zhou He looked at him with a gesture to step outside to speak.

Once in the hallway, the assistant recounted everything he had learned. “Mr. Xia has good relationships with everyone at the club. He hasn’t offended anyone.”

Zhou He sneered after hearing this, “Not offending anyone doesn’t mean no one envies Mu Mu.”

After all, the human heart is hard to predict. The dark side doesn’t show itself in front of others. Zhou He understood Mu Mu’s personality very well. What he feared most was that some small-minded person might try to make trouble right in front of him.

“Mr. Zhou, the people at the club said that Mr. Xia’s car is regularly checked and maintained every week. He also checks it himself before every race. He must have been in a hurry yesterday and skipped the check, which led to the accident. Do you think someone might have tampered with his car?” The assistant pondered for a long while before voicing his own concerns.
