Shen Nanxing was completely speechless by Fu Zhiyuan’s smooth moves.
When someone is truly dumbfounded, they really do end up laughing.
He didn’t hold back, exposing him directly,
“You already planned to do this, didn’t you?”
Fu Zhiyuan didn’t deny it. Instead, he looked at him with a pitiful expression.
“I just want to be alone with my wife. What’s wrong with that?”
Shen Nanxing instantly flared up.
“Are you crazy? Who’s your wife?!”
Fu Zhiyuan resisted the urge to pat his head and instead smiled faintly.
“You. You’re my wife, Shen Nanxing.”
Shen Nanxing snorted coldly.
“I don’t care if you’re Fu Zhiyuan or Zheng Zhiyuan—I don’t know you.”
Fu Zhiyuan looked slightly disappointed but quickly returned to his usual calm self.
It’s fine. If he doesn’t remember me, I’ll just make him fall for me all over again.
One day, Xingbao will remember everything.
Fu Zhiyuan silently encouraged himself, feeling that life was suddenly full of hope again.
Suddenly, Shen Nanxing shouted and grabbed his arm, visibly shaken.
“What did you just say your name was? Fu Zhiyuan? Did I hear that right?”
Fu Zhiyuan? Isn’t that the scumbag’s uncle?
Why would the original, obedient Xingbao have anything to do with him?
This is bad, bad, bad!
Fu Zhiyuan’s gloom instantly vanished. His eyes lit up as he tightly held Shen Nanxing’s hand.
“Xingbao, you remembered me?!”
Shen Nanxing tilted his head in confusion.
“Remember what? Answer my question first.”
He urgently needed to confirm whether this was the Fu Zhiyuan he was thinking of.
Fu Zhiyuan cleared his throat and said seriously,
“Xingbao, let me introduce myself properly. My name is Fu Zhiyuan. I’m 25 years old, 187 cm tall, weigh 80 kg, come from a family of four, and own a cat named—”
Before he could continue, Shen Nanxing interrupted him with a stop gesture.
“Stop! I just asked your name. Who told you to spill your entire personal info like you’re trying to advertise yourself in a matchmaking event?!”
Fu Zhiyuan regretfully closed his mouth but still whispered under his breath,
“I just wanted my wife to know me better. Is that so wrong?”
Unable to bear it any longer, Shen Nanxing stood on tiptoes and tugged at his ear.
“Call me ‘wife’ one more time, I dare you!”
If you have the guts to keep calling me your wife, why not try calling me ‘husband’ instead?
“Ow—” Fu Zhiyuan winced, but instead of complaining, he looked at him with a smile.
“But Xingbao, you are my wife! I even proposed to you.”
He quickly pulled out his phone and showed him a photo of the time he had slipped a ring onto Shen Nanxing’s finger.
“Look, we even took pictures.”
He flipped through the images, pausing longer on a photo where they were both in the frame together, making sure Shen Nanxing got a good, long look.
This whole sequence left Shen Nanxing completely dumbfounded.
Eyes wide, he stammered, “You… photoshopped this, right?”
Fu Zhiyuan chuckled quietly, grasping Shen Nanxing’s delicate wrist. His fingers lightly brushed over the red string bracelet tied there.
“This is our token of love. I personally tied it for you.”
Shen Nanxing stared at the bracelet, struggling to process the situation.
He looked down at his empty fingers as if he had caught a mistake.
Raising both hands, he waved them in front of Fu Zhiyuan’s face.
“There’s no ring! You’re lying!”
Fu Zhiyuan’s eyebrows lifted, completely unfazed.
Without a hint of panic, his large hand gently brushed against Shen Nanxing’s neck. He tilted his chin slightly, revealing a delicate silver chain around his neck.
Hanging on the chain was a small, intricate ring. The exact same one from the photo.
“See? Still here.”
Shen Nanxing stared in disbelief.
“Holy sh—!”
Fu Zhiyuan quickly tucked the ring back beneath his shirt.
It was Shen Nanxing who had insisted on keeping their relationship lowkey. Wearing a ring on his finger would have been too obvious, so Fu Zhiyuan had compromised by buying a chain instead.
“Now do you believe me, wife?”
Shen Nanxing raised a hand to block Fu Zhiyuan’s face, which was inching dangerously closer.
“Wait… are we seriously dating?”
Fu Zhiyuan nodded smugly.
Shen Nanxing looked like he had just seen a ghost.
“…Can I wake up from this nightmare already?”
Fu Zhiyuan gazed at him deeply, voice soft but firm.
“Wife, can I hug you now?”
Shen Nanxing felt completely overwhelmed.
What does it even feel like when a ridiculously handsome man begs you for a hug?
I’ve never even held hands with a guy before… now I suddenly have a boyfriend?
This is insane!
Who would’ve thought the original Xingbao had such a rebellious side after all?
Fu Zhiyuan’s voice dropped to a teasing whisper.
“Wife, if you don’t say anything, I’ll take that as a yes.”
Shen Nanxing hadn’t had a chance to speak before he was enveloped in the warmth and embrace of the man. Fu Zhiyuan had finally achieved his goal of holding him, and his tightly wound nerves relaxed. Fortunately, Xingbao didn’t resist his physical contact. The familiar scent of the man’s clothes, a deep woody fragrance, surrounded him, and the sound of their heartbeats, indistinguishable from each other, filled the air. Shen Nanxing froze for a moment, then snapped back to reality and realized what had just happened. He quickly pulled away from Fu Zhiyuan’s embrace, his cheeks flushed, and he couldn’t bring himself to meet his gaze.
“Who—who told you to hug people without warning like that? It’s so improper!”
Fu Zhiyuan, with a hint of regret in his eyes, responded, “I couldn’t help myself. Sorry, wife.”
Shen Nanxing was immediately annoyed. *This ‘wife’ again? Why can’t he let it go?* He tilted his head, scrutinizing Fu Zhiyuan. Fu Zhiyuan lowered his head, pretending to listen attentively.
“We’ll make some ground rules: First, don’t call me ‘wife’ anymore. Who’s the wife here anyway?”
Fu Zhiyuan laughed unapologetically. “Are you sure about that?”
Shen Nanxing was interrupted, huffing in annoyance. “What? Do you look down on me? Haven’t you heard that 1 plus 1 still equals 1, no matter how small?”
Fu Zhiyuan nodded, looking as if he had learned something. He lightly pressed his lips together. “Xingbao, you’re right.” Real men don’t take advantage with words—he would be patient with Xingbao.
Shen Nanxing mumbled, “That’s more like it.”
“Second, you’re not allowed to tell anyone about our relationship.”
“Third, if I say we’re breaking up, you have to agree without question.”
Fu Zhiyuan could accept the first two rules, but the last one was absolutely non-negotiable. His face darkened, his eyes clouded with uncertainty. “Xingbao, I can’t accept the last one.”
“I can’t agree to a breakup. You’re my boyfriend!”
Shen Nanxing was startled by the dangerous aura and possessive gaze Fu Zhiyuan emitted. Reflexively, he took a step back. Fu Zhiyuan, thinking he was trying to escape, grabbed his wrist tightly.
“No, you can’t leave me.” His gaze was obsessive and intense.
Shen Nanxing winced in pain and kicked him forcefully. “What’s wrong with you, acting all crazy?!”
Fu Zhiyuan felt a rush of regret and looked at him with a guilty expression, his eyes filled with pain. “I’m sorry, Xingbao. Did I hurt you?” He gently rubbed Shen Nanxing’s reddened wrist, pleading, “Xingbao, please don’t break up with me, okay? I know you don’t remember me, but I’ll make you remember.”
“Please don’t break up with me, okay?” His head hung low, his eyes red and wet, looking incredibly vulnerable.
Shen Nanxing looked at him, his heart conflicted, unsure of what he was feeling.
“I said if—I didn’t say we should break up right now.” He awkwardly explained. For a moment, he had been thinking of it, but now, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.
Fu Zhiyuan’s voice was hoarse. “That’s great.” As long as Xingbao didn’t mention breaking up now, he wouldn’t let Xingbao have the chance to bring it up in the future.
