He Left a Kiss on the Rose Chapter 16

Chapter 16: I’m So Bad, What Should I Do?

The teacher’s decisiveness left Ning Qiutang with no room for refusal.

However, she wasn’t entirely resistant. She suspected that the teacher’s sudden decision to have her participate was due to Shen Wanwan’s meddling.

Thinking back to the harsh slap in the face she received in her previous life, she lowered her gaze, feeling a sense of unease.

The poems she had prepared, while not the best, shouldn’t have lost. Shen Wanwan’s poem was indeed classic, but it didn’t seem like something she could write.

Since she insisted on competing with her, there was no point in backing down. Upon closer reflection, she realized that Shen Wanwan had been secretly provoking her to compete, using this method to make her the “prodigy” everyone talked about.

Well, let’s see who would truly laugh last this time.

“Ning Qiutang… what are you thinking about? Take this poetry collection home and read it carefully, prepare diligently. The teacher won’t harm you. Your grades are more than enough to get into Peking University.”

The teacher opened a drawer and handed her a book.

Ning Qiutang snapped out of her thoughts and accepted the book “Two Hundred Poems.”

As she was about to leave, she saw Jiang Sheng being brought in by the headmaster.

Their eyes met.

She lowered her head, wanting to leave quickly.

“Jiang Sheng, why are you so incorrigible? You’re treating the school like what? Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you have money…”

The headmaster dared to speak like this because he was Jiang Sheng’s uncle.

Jiang Sheng stood there, letting him lecture, his expression impatient: “Didn’t you guys say it? Treat the school like your own home.”

“I beat up a few people who broke into my house, it’s only fair.”

Ning Qiutang, who was at the door, heard the young man’s words and silently admired him. Every student’s dream was to stand up to the teachers.

No wonder everyone called him Jiang Shen and the Crown Prince.

She didn’t listen any further. Jiang Sheng’s fights were commonplace. In her first year of high school, she had heard about this Crown Prince taking on eighteen school bullies, beating them until they transferred out of Beijing.

He became famous overnight. Who didn’t know about the Crown Prince of No. 1 High School?

As school was about to end, Ning Qiutang learned her lesson and didn’t stuff her bag with so many things.

Yu Jiaojiao left early, saying she was going to attend Pei Tingxu’s fan meeting.

Shen Wanwan approached with a friendly smile: “Ning classmate, the teacher said only the two of us from our class will participate. What are you planning to write? By the way, this is what I wrote. You can take a look and give me some feedback.”

Shu Hui, her shadow, followed behind.

“Oh, Wanwan, why are you showing her? What if she plagiarizes your work?”

Ning Qiutang really thought they were boring, especially this Shen Wanwan, who acted like she had a disease: “It’s so good, it could be passed down through the ages.”

She was insulting her without using any curse words.

Shen Wanwan’s expression changed, her eyes glancing out the window. She saw the person she was waiting for and quickly changed her expression to one of innocence: “My writing is just average. But I heard your teacher is a famous master of literary classics, and you’ve been immersed in literature for years, you must be even better.”

“I really want to learn from you. Of course, if you find it unpleasant, just forget I said anything.”

Look, how gentle, kind, and generous she was.

Ning Qiutang frowned slightly. As she turned her head, she saw the young man suddenly appearing outside the window.

Every time Shen Wanwan acted so insincere, that certain someone would appear.

Jiang Sheng placed his hands on the windowsill, his gaze playful as he met the girl’s eyes. He saw the “as expected” flash across her face.

The young man’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. He spoke softly: “Seems like I came at an inconvenient time.”

“You’re hindering my performance.”

Shen Wanwan’s brows furrowed. Why was Jiang Sheng’s favorability not increasing, and he was becoming increasingly concerned about this vicious female supporting character? This was illogical.

Shouldn’t the most important person to the male lead be the female lead?

Ning Qiutang packed up her things and left, not intending to continue bickering with Shen Wanwan.

Jiang Sheng’s hand rested on her backpack, easily snatching it away. “Write a two-thousand-word self-criticism for me, good student.”

Ning Qiutang held back her anger. Why was he so casually ordering her around? “I’m not your anything. Why should I do this and that for you?”

“What do you think you’re doing to me?”

Besides, he knew she was a good student. How could she write a self-criticism?

“You’re quite resentful.” Jiang Sheng switched the backpack to his left hand, his right hand suddenly wrapping around the girl’s small waist, pressing her against the corner.

His eyes were charming and unrestrained, his lips red and white, making him look incredibly attractive.

“I’m begging you to help me write it, okay?”

The distance between them suddenly closed, the air filled with unspoken intimacy.

Ning Qiutang was frightened, her hands quickly pushing between them. She looked up at the unrestrained young man, her eyes filled with surprise and fear. He was begging her.

How unusual. The aloof and powerful prince would actually lower himself to beg someone.

She wasn’t blushing or nervous, only feeling an inner fear of him. How could she dare to have such self-righteous thoughts?

“I…”

Before she could refuse, Jiang Sheng leaned down, his entire face close to hers.

Ning Qiutang immediately turned her head, afraid he would do something wrong. The hand she was using to push against his chest unconsciously pushed harder, and she could feel the rhythm of his heartbeat against her chest.

“You can’t refuse, because I’ll be angry.”

Jiang Sheng said with a pleasant smile, his voice devoid of any threat. But those who knew him well knew that refusing him would not end well.

Ning Qiutang hurriedly nodded, understanding that it was better to be wise than to be brave. “I’ll write it, five thousand words.”

Jiang Sheng smiled in satisfaction, seeing her obedient and quick actions, he rubbed her head.

Both of them froze.

Ning Qiutang felt a chill run down her spine and immediately took a step back, avoiding his touch.

Jiang Sheng’s eyes quickly clouded over with gloom, he looked at her with a smile that wasn’t a smile. “You always seem to have so many surprises waiting for me to discover. You’re so afraid of me, what have I done to you?”

The young man’s intelligence and sensitivity were almost heart-piercing, seeing through a person’s deepest secrets, leaving them nowhere to hide.

Ning Qiutang’s mind raced, grabbing her clothes and saying, “Everyone is afraid of you.”

“You used to dare to be wild around me.” Jiang Sheng sneered, not accepting her flimsy excuse.

Ning Qiutang’s mind raced, her eyes suddenly turning red as she looked at him with a tearful look. “That was before, this is now. You’re so mean to me, do I need to remind you?”

Jiang Sheng looked at her, his cold demeanor gradually softening as he gently coaxed her in a low voice. “Oh, I’m so bad, what should I do?”

“Just scold me a few more times, beat me up to vent your anger, I won’t fight back.”

Ning Qiutang almost couldn’t hold back her emotions. Was he serious or acting?

This gentle and patient Jiang Sheng, she had only seen him around Shen Wanwan.

It was like a dream.

“Forget it, anyway, everything is different now, and you like fighting so much, I’m afraid it’s normal for you to be afraid of me suddenly hitting you.”

She calmed down and walked away from him.
