Tang You wanted to speak, but she didn’t have the strength. Almost simultaneously, the sounds around her became distant and muffled.
In the last moment before she passed out, she heard Cheng Xuan urgently calling her name.
After that, she remembered nothing.
When she woke up, everything around her was white.
Her memory was hazy. Struggling to sit up, she saw Cheng Xuan entering the room with two bottles of water. When she saw that Tang You was awake, she hurried over, “Youyou, you’re awake?”
Her voice also caught the attention of the homeroom teacher standing nearby, who turned around.
The teacher walked over and sat by the bed with a gentle expression, “Tang You, have you not been eating well or getting enough rest lately?”
Tang You avoided her gaze, “No, I’ve been fine.”
She wasn’t telling the truth.
In reality, over the past two weeks, her private tutor had assigned her several difficult new pieces to practice, and the schoolwork was becoming more demanding. She spent her days in school and her evenings attending extra lessons, and after those, she still had to deal with Fang Lai’s inquiries.
The pressure from all sides was building up, leading to insomnia every night. Last night, she didn’t fall asleep until almost 3 a.m.
The teacher could only offer routine advice, “Senior year is tough, so you need to pay attention to your nutrition, exercise regularly, maintain a positive mindset, and improve both your physical and mental well-being—”
Before she could finish, the door to the infirmary suddenly burst open with a loud bang.
Everyone turned to look.
Cheng Xuan, who had been standing next to the teacher drinking mineral water, was so startled by the intruder that she spat out the water she hadn’t swallowed.
Tang You was also surprised to see Zhou Qinyao.
He seemed to have run over, his chest heaving with heavy breaths, one hand gripping the door handle, his expression tense as he scanned the room.
The teacher, confused, adjusted her glasses and asked, “Which class are you from? What are you doing here?”
Cheng Xuan quickly reacted, blurting out, “Ah, teacher, he’s our class’s sports monitor. Maybe he’s here to remind me about class.”
She winked at Zhou Qinyao as she spoke.
Zhou Qinyao, trying to catch his breath, nodded in agreement, “Yes, it’s time for class.”
Tang You’s homeroom teacher seemed to remember something and glanced at her watch, “I need to go too; I have a class coming up. Tang You, if you’re not feeling well, you should go home and rest. I’ll give you half a day off.”
Before leaving, the teacher paused at the door, “Do you need me to notify your parents?”
Tang You quickly waved her hands, “No, no, I’m fine. I just need to rest for a bit.”
“Alright then.”
After the teacher left, Zhou Qinyao immediately took a few steps forward to stand by the bed, his concern evident, “Why did you faint?”
Tang You instead asked him, “…Why are you here?”
Cheng Xuan, standing guard by the door to prevent anyone else from entering, explained, “I texted Yao Ge to tell him you fainted, but I didn’t expect him to rush to the school like this. Damn, Yao Ge, how did you even get in here!”
Tang You couldn’t help but laugh at Cheng Xuan’s reaction. After a pause, she got out of bed, “I’m fine now. Let’s go.”
Zhou Qinyao immediately supported her, still worried, “If you’re fine, why did you faint?”
“The teacher said Youyou fainted from temporary hypoglycemia due to lack of sleep,” Cheng Xuan interjected, then added meaningfully while looking at Zhou Qinyao, “But now that you’re here, she shouldn’t be lacking sugar anymore.”
Tang You quickly pushed Cheng Xuan out of the room, mumbling in a low voice, “Stop talking nonsense…”
Cheng Xuan teased her back, whispering in her ear, “If it’s nonsense, why are you blushing?”
Zhou Qinyao: “…”
The three of them left the infirmary together, walking along the path on campus. Cheng Xuan, sensing the mood, tactfully returned to the classroom.
Once they were alone, Zhou Qinyao frowned and asked, “Why are you lacking sleep? Is it because of too much homework?”
Tang You lowered her head, mumbling, “No, don’t listen to Xuan Jie. She’s just talking nonsense.”
Zhou Qinyao looked at her silently, his gaze deep and intense.
No one knew how he dropped everything and rushed over after receiving Cheng Xuan’s message.
After about ten seconds of silence, Tang You also realized that she couldn’t fool this person.
So, she had to honestly admit the recent pressures and insomnia she’d been dealing with, but she reassured him:
“I’m really fine, just need a bit of rest.”
Zhou Qinyao listened quietly for a while, seemingly deep in thought.
The warning bell for class rang, and Tang You nudged him, “You should go now, it wouldn’t be good if someone saw us.”
But Zhou Qinyao suddenly asked, “Didn’t your teacher give you a half-day off?”
Tang You was slightly taken aback, “What’s up?”
“Come with me. I want to take you somewhere.”
“…”
Even though Tang You felt completely recovered and didn’t think she needed to take the rest of the day off, the idea of spending half a day alone with Zhou Qinyao, exploring the outside world, was too tempting to resist.
Without hesitation, she went back to her classroom to grab her backpack and then left the school with him.
The motorcycle carried her through the city’s avenues, and half an hour later, they arrived at a wide open area in the suburbs.
Tang You got off the bike and took off her helmet, looking at the sign of the building in front of her: *C City International Racing Circuit.*
She asked in confusion, “What are we doing here?”
Zhou Qinyao parked the bike and gave her a calm smile, “Helping you relieve stress.”
“…”
Zhou Qinyao led her inside. The security at the entrance seemed to be familiar with him and greeted him with a nod, “Here again?”
Inside, Zhou Qinyao took out a card and swiped it at the front desk, then motioned to Tang You with his chin, “Come over.”
The place was decorated with metal accents and had various posters of different models and brands of motorcycles hanging on the walls. Tang You curiously looked around, following him and asking, “What is this place for?”
Zhou Qinyao casually jingled the keys in his hand and replied lightly, “For racing.”
“…”
