Chapter 14: Willing to Ruin Her Reputation

Bai Yu was helpless. He hadn’t expected that Miss Wang, who seemed gentle and dignified, would be so unmanageable when she was being stubborn.

He sighed softly and coaxed her gently, “You’ve grown up in a sheltered environment and don’t know how harsh the world is towards women. You’re a pure and innocent unmarried girl, if I send you back today, your reputation will be ruined.”

“How will you be able to marry a good man then?”

Wang Baochuan blinked her bright eyes, looking at his serious expression, and couldn’t help but chuckle. She hadn’t expected this Mr. Bai to be such a gentleman. Even though he knew she was the third Miss of the Prime Minister’s mansion, he didn’t try to take advantage of her.

But she wanted to ruin her reputation, so she could avoid the lottery for marriage.

“I don’t want to marry any good man. If you don’t send me back yourself today, I’ll starve to death here.” She pouted and threatened him.

Bai Yu insisted on not sending her back.

Wang Baochuan had no choice but to tell him her purpose.

He was stunned, “You’re going to ruin your reputation to avoid those who want to propose marriage to you?”

“The Classic of Poetry says, ‘A man’s delay can be explained, but a woman’s delay cannot be explained.’ I have many more important things to do, I don’t want to marry just anyone.”

As she spoke, her expression was gentle and firm, she was standing in the sunlight, but she was brighter than the sun itself.

“If I marry in the future, I want to marry a man with good character, someone I love and who loves me back.” She leaned closer to Bai Yu and said playfully.

Bai Yu’s heart was inexplicably pierced, a nameless feeling settled in his heart, taking root and sprouting.

“Have you thought this through?” After a long time, Bai Yu asked her.

“Of course.”

In the afternoon, Bai Yu drove her back to the Prime Minister’s mansion himself.

Because Prime Minister Wang recognized him, he didn’t dare to stay long, he left her at the gate and left quickly.

Wang Baochuan stood in front of the vermilion gate, looking at his departing figure, pretending to be reluctant.

The people in the mansion were informed that the third Miss, who had been missing for more than ten days, had returned.

Mrs. Wang, with Wang Jinchuan and Wang Yinchuan, rushed to the gate.  Wang Baochuan was looking at the empty street, her legs were about to give way from standing for so long, before she finally saw them.

“Wang Baochuan! The guards at the gate just reported that a strange man sent you back!”

“Are you shameless? You’re flirting with other men before you’re even married!”

Wang Yinchuan hadn’t even arrived, but her scolding voice had already reached them.

“Baochuan, you’re finally back.” Wang Jinchuan wiped away her tears, she was both heartbroken and excited.  Since her sister had been missing after encountering the assassins, she hadn’t been able to eat or sleep, and she had been blaming herself every day.  If she hadn’t taken her sister out to burn incense, her sister wouldn’t have been in danger.

Wang Baochuan quickly stepped forward to comfort Wang Jinchuan, “Sister, I’m fine.  Look, I’m back safe and sound, aren’t I?”

“Mother.” Wang Baochuan knelt down and bowed, “It’s all my fault, I worried Mother!”

Mrs. Wang was reasonable, she quickly pulled her up and looked her up and down, afraid that she had been hurt, “It’s all those insidious Xiliang assassins, it’s good you’re back, it’s good you’re back.”

“Do you know how heartbroken your father and I were when we learned that you fell off the cliff, you should really be punished!” Wang Yinchuan looked around, but she didn’t see the dog man.

Wang Baochuan held Mrs. Wang’s arm, looking at her with a pitiful expression.
