Chapter 28
Looking at the delectable young girl, the liquor in his mouth seemed to have more kick to it. Aunt Zhuge waved her hand, “Come on, men are no good.”
The whole room was silent, no one dared to answer. Only Ji Wanqing sat down with a smile, and even added a jab, “Who says not? He even hid his marital status when introducing himself, clearly not someone you can rely on.”
Yan Chong couldn’t refute, he left sullenly with a black face.
Ji Wanqing was actually quite interested in this little old lady.
Her eyes were sharp and her brows were relaxed, she looked very cheerful and generous. Only her white hair and rough knuckles revealed that she had suffered in her youth.
“Little girl, you’re a new face, just arrived recently?” Aunt Zhuge asked.
Ji Wanqing, “Hmm, I just arrived today, I’m here to visit relatives.”
Aunt Zhuge asked, “You don’t seem to be married yet, do you? Aunt, I know this place like the back of my hand, do you want me to introduce you to a good man? Don’t let yourself be tricked by someone like Little Yan, and jump into the fire pit for nothing.”
“…” How come she couldn’t escape being set up on a blind date even after changing tables.
Ji Wanqing, “No need, Aunt, my family has introduced someone.”
“Who is it? Tell me the name and rank, I’ll help you analyze whether the person is suitable.”
“There’s no rank, you know my age, my family must have introduced someone around the same age.”
Aunt Zhuge pouted, “What’s wrong with being young? My nephew was already a platoon leader when he was your age. The person your family introduced, hasn’t even made it to platoon leader yet? By the way, how old are you?”
“Nineteen.”
“Tsk, that’s perfect! My nephew is twenty-five this year, six years older, he’s already a battalion commander!”
Ji Wanqing smiled but didn’t say anything.
Seeing that the young girl was indeed not interested, Aunt Zhuge didn’t persuade her much, she just said, “If you’re not satisfied with the person your family is setting you up with, come to Aunt, Aunt will definitely introduce you to a good one!”
The food came, Ji Wanqing agreed, “Then thank you, Aunt.”
Aunt Zhuge shared some braised beef with her, “Eat more meat, look how thin you are, your waist is smaller than my palm.”
“Then Aunt, try the stir-fried pork I ordered, it’s also good for drinking.”
The two of them happily finished their meal, chatted about the local customs of Huai County, and found that they both loved to eat and drink, and their personalities were very compatible, so they chatted very happily.
After finishing their meal, learning that the young girl was staying at the guest house for the next few days, Aunt Zhuge happily went home.
When she had dinner with her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, she was still muttering, “I think that little Ji is a good one. She’s pretty, good-natured, and a straightforward person. If the person her family introduced is a good-for-nothing, we have to get her over here!”
Fang Chengde: … My mother has her eyes on another young girl again.
In the afternoon, Ji Wanqing wandered around the county.
Huai County wasn’t that big, about 200,000 people. Because it was close to the military region, many soldiers came on vacation to replenish supplies and relax, so there were many places to eat, drink, and have fun, and the county even had a cinema.
Ji Wanqing bought some trinkets and novel local products, and then had dinner at the state-owned restaurant before returning to the guest house.
There was really nothing to do at night, she had almost vomited from watching all the movies and TV shows downloaded on her tablet.
Fortunately, she had collected a library of books, and now when she had nothing to do, she would read real variable functions and linear algebra to put herself to sleep.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to read other things.
It’s just that after her brain became too smart, many books were like plain water to her.
It was fine to read them when she was thirsty, but when she wasn’t thirsty, she didn’t even want to touch them.
She fell asleep in her comfortable space, and Ji Wanqing fell onto the bed in the guest house with the last bit of consciousness.
It seemed that she couldn’t sleep in the space in the future. What if something unexpected happened and someone broke into her room and found no one there? She would be finished.
The next day.
Ji Wanqing slept until noon before waking up. She wasn’t interested in the bland and watery food at the guest house, so she went to the state-owned restaurant again.
“Hello, I’d like a dish of chicken stewed with mushrooms, a steamed pumpkin, and a bowl of rice, thank you.”
“Oh! You’re here again, little Ji, come sit with Aunt.”
It was Aunt Zhuge.
Ji Wanqing readily sat down, “Aunt, I come here to eat every day because I’m staying at the guest house. Why don’t you cook at home?”
Aunt Zhuge sighed, “My son and daughter-in-law both have jobs and can’t come back for lunch, so we can only come out to eat.”
Ji Wanqing didn’t pry into their family affairs, “Hmm, the chef at this state-owned restaurant is quite skilled, it’s better than what I ate in Yunhe City.”
“That’s right, his ancestors were imperial chefs! If it weren’t for the fact that this place is close to the military region, and the organization specially did some ideological work, do you think he would be willing to stay in a small county?”
Ji Wanqing was curious, “Then why not just take over the army canteen? That way, the soldiers could eat good food every day.”
Aunt Zhuge clicked her tongue, “Do you think people haven’t thought about it? Even the best chef will be just so-so when he’s cooking in a big pot. Can a small pot and small stir-fries be the same as cooking for thousands of people at once?”
“That’s true.”
The two of them chatted and laughed, and they became regular lunch buddies. Every day at noon, Aunt Zhuge could meet Ji Wanqing at the state-owned restaurant.
After five days, everyone in the guest house and around the state-owned restaurant knew that a stunningly beautiful woman had recently arrived.
She was not only beautiful but also rich. She ate at the state-owned restaurant every day, and even a deputy commander couldn’t get her. No one knew what kind of person could win over this high and mighty flower.
Aunt Zhuge sipped her liquor, “My son is off tomorrow, he can’t come here for lunch.”
What a thoughtful lunch buddy who needs to report.
Ji Wanqing also said, “My relative is coming back from a mission tomorrow, I have to go find him.”
Sigh, it’s a shame that such a brief friendship will end so soon.
Aunt Zhuge, “If you need anything, come to number 63 in the military compound. Tell the guards my name, I’ll go ahead and tell them, and they’ll let you in.”
“Okay.” Aunt looked like she wasn’t a simple person. If something really happened, it would be an extra way out.
Their respective dishes arrived, and as usual, they exchanged some to taste.
“Is Chef Zhang in a bad mood today? His hand is too light.” Ji Wanqing chewed thoughtfully, this was the first time the dishes at this state-owned restaurant were so substandard.
Aunt Zhuge tasted it, “It’s a bit lacking in flavor, Little Liu, come here!”
After calling the waiter, Little Liu, Aunt Zhuge asked, “Which chef is the head chef today?”
Little Liu, “It’s our Chef Zhou. Oh, my memory is so bad, I forgot to remind you, Chef Zhang is on vacation today.”
Chef Zhou was Chef Zhang’s eldest apprentice, he had learned almost all his skills, but Aunt Zhuge, who was a connoisseur, could taste the difference.
Aunt Zhuge chided, “I think you’re being stingy with the money in my pocket! Alright, alright, it’s not inedible, go busy yourself.”
Ji Wanqing tasted it again, “Chef Zhou isn’t very old, is he? How can he suppress the flavor of the pork loin without heavy spices? He’s still not on the stove enough, he lacks experience.”
Hearing the young girl’s knowledgeable analysis, Aunt Zhuge was curious, “Little Ji, can you cook?”
Ji Wanqing was modest, “I know a little bit. I’m better at eating than cooking.”
“Hahaha, me too!” Aunt Zhuge laughed, “If I only knew how to steam steamed buns, I wouldn’t be able to come to our state-owned restaurant to eat every day.”
As they were chatting and laughing, Aunt Zhuge looked towards the door and her eyes lit up, “Hey, Little Jiang, you’re back! How was the training?”
