Chapter 39: Getting the License 3

Five minutes later, Qin Ruyan walked out.

She was young, and he was worried that she wouldn’t be able to carry it off. A cheongsam is more suitable for women with a lot of experience, as it can bring out the beauty that comes from years of life.

But although her features were beautiful, her eyes held a gentle warmth, and she could definitely pull it off.

Qin Ruyan felt a little embarrassed. The size was just right, not too big or too small. Aunt Shen nodded approvingly, then turned to look at Lu Jingchen, who was still standing there in a daze.

She smiled and walked out, consciously giving them some space alone.

Qin Ruyan saw that he was staring at her without moving, so she walked up to him, but he didn’t react.

Her skin was white, her neck long, and the skin of her exposed collarbone was so white it glowed. Her 168 cm height made her look even thinner and taller in the cheongsam. His gaze, full of aggression, swept from her neck to her collarbone to her slender waist.

Lu Jingchen felt all the blood in his body rushing to one place.

He took a deep breath to calm himself down.

He then picked up the hair pin on the table, put it in her hair, pulled her close, and chuckled softly, “It really suits you.”

They didn’t stay any longer. Lu Jingchen picked up the clothes she had changed out of and got up to say goodbye to Aunt Shen.

When Aunt Shen saw them come out, she looked at the hair pin in Qin Ruyan’s hair, paused for a second, then took a bracelet from her hand and put it on Qin Ruyan’s wrist.

Lu Jingchen didn’t say anything. Qin Ruyan tried to refuse, but Aunt Shen wouldn’t let her.

“Good child, I also consider Jingchen my own child. I have no children and no one to depend on. He waited eight years for you to come back. Aunt Shen is so happy that you two lovers can be together. Jingchen may be busy with work, and if he ignores you occasionally, I hope you won’t be angry with him.”

She patted Qin Ruyan’s hand, speaking earnestly.

Qin Ruyan nodded, unable to help but speak up for him.

“He’s very good to me, don’t worry.”

Lu Jingchen stood aside, raising an eyebrow. He didn’t expect her to speak up for him?

They chatted for a few more minutes before saying goodbye and leaving.

Lu Jingchen took her hand and walked out, squeezing her fingers, turning his head to look at her.

“You just told Aunt Shen I’m good. What’s good about me?”

His tone was casual, and his expression a little cocky. Qin Ruyan pursed her lips and didn’t speak.

He just chuckled and continued to tease her. Lu Jingchen raised the hand he was holding and asked her, “Is this good? Or is this good?” He then touched her lips with his hand.

Qin Ruyan realized what his hand and his mouth had done, and she looked at him coldly. “It’s not that satisfying.”

Lu Jingchen laughed. “Okay, I’ll improve in the future.”

They got in the car and headed towards Qin’s villa.

Qin Chaoyang had been restless ever since he received Qin Ruyan’s call.

She had just gone to Hangzhou yesterday and was coming back today, and she said she had something to tell him.

Shen Meng saw him pacing around the living room for several laps, his brows furrowed tightly, and she couldn’t help but pull him down onto the sofa.

“You’re making me dizzy. You don’t even know what’s going on, why are you so nervous?”

Qin Chaoyang looked at his wife, his brows still furrowed.

“Mengmeng, you know, I only have this one niece,”

Shen Meng interrupted him, “What do you mean you only have this one niece? It’s our niece, I love Ruyan too. This child is sensible and has good judgment, don’t worry about everything without knowing anything, just worry here.”

She poured a cup of hot tea and handed it to Qin Chaoyang.

Before Qin Chaoyang could speak, the door was pushed open.

He subconsciously looked up, and the next second, his eyes widened, and the teacup in his hand fell to the ground with a bang.

Qin Ruyan pulled her hand away from Lu Jingchen’s grasp and quickly walked over, her voice filled with worry.

“Uncle, are you alright? Did you get burned?”

Qin Chaoyang and Shen Meng froze in place, taking a long time to react.

“Wife, did I see wrong? Just now, Ruyan and Lu Jingchen walked in hand-in-hand?”

Qin Chaoyang whispered a few words to Shen Meng, then pinched his leg, hissing in pain, a real pain, not a dream.

At the doorway, Lu Jingchen was holding a full box of packages in his hand. He strode in.

“Uncle, Aunt, hello. Let me introduce myself again, I’m Yan’er’s boyfriend.” He didn’t dare say he was here to get the marriage license today.

Qin Chaoyang finally reacted, and some things that he couldn’t figure out suddenly made sense.

No wonder Lu Jingchen didn’t bat an eyelid when he invested one hundred million in them.

He didn’t respond to Lu Jingchen’s “Uncle,” stood up, looked at Qin Ruyan, then at Lu Jingchen, thought for a while before speaking.

“Ruyan, you and…” He couldn’t bring himself to say it, “Both of you, come with me to the study.”

Lu Jingchen glanced at Qin Ruyan before speaking. “Uncle, I’ll go with you. I’ll tell you whatever you want to know.”

Qin Chaoyang looked at Qin Ruyan, alright.

“Alright.”

He turned and walked towards the study upstairs, holding onto the handrail. If you looked closely, his legs were shaking slightly.

Lu Jingchen walked up to her, patted her head reassuringly, and said, “Don’t worry.” Then he followed him to the study upstairs.

Shen Meng pulled Qin Ruyan to sit on the sofa. She glanced sideways and saw a hickey on the back of Qin Ruyan’s neck. She was stunned for a moment, then pondered for a long time before speaking.

“Ruyan, you and Lu Jingchen… do you really like him? Is it your own will?”

Qin Ruyan was a little surprised that she would say that. She followed her gaze and realized what it was.

Her face flushed slightly before she spoke, her voice a little low.

“Yeah, I like him.”

At least his face, his physical contact with her, she didn’t dislike it.

Shen Meng felt relieved, then thought of something else, “Did you know beforehand about him investing one hundred million in your brother?”

Qin Ruyan pursed her lips and confessed honestly.

“When I returned to China, I met him while having dinner with Yaoyao. He’s Yaoyao’s brother. We added each other on WeChat then, and I deleted him later. The morning you went to Lu’s, he came to see me. He joked that if I didn’t add him back on WeChat, he would… he would bankrupt Qin’s.”

Qin Ruyan looked at her aunt’s expression and her voice became lower as she spoke.

Shen Meng couldn’t help but twitch the corner of her mouth when she heard this.

He can’t get a girl so he goes after their company? Lu Jingchen is so insidious?

“But he invested one hundred million in your brother, what conditions did you agree to?”

Qin Ruyan shook her head. “No, I just added him back on WeChat. This trip to Hangzhou was a coincidence. He confessed to me before, I ignored him. This time he… I thought I could try dating him. He seems serious, and he’s my sister’s friend. If he’s just playing around, there are plenty of people who would jump at the chance, he doesn’t need to choose me.”
