Chapter 64: He Really Guessed Right
If before, Shen Wanwan had a crush on Jiang Sheng, now her eyes held a hint of murderous intent. She wanted Jiang Sheng dead.
Was this another case of “if I can’t have it, I’ll destroy it?”
But it was different from Yu Jiaojiao’s case.
“No matter what, she’s after you. Keep an eye on her.”
Ning Qiutang felt that he should be aware of the woman’s problem. His safety was at stake.
He opened the car door and got out.
He asked Uncle Wang to drive him back.
Jiang Sheng rolled down the window and watched her back, asking, “Did you have a car accident just now?”
“Yeah, but it’s nothing serious. I’m fine.” Ning Qiutang turned back and waved at him, like she was trying to shoo him away.
Jiang Sheng sat back down and didn’t press further.
After the car started again, Ning Xiaoyao suddenly said, “Brother Sheng, when Lu Feisheng stole my things, he said they wouldn’t let us go.”
“I don’t know what’s going on. Why are they so resentful?”
Jiang Sheng touched the Buddhist beads on his wrist. Did Shen Wanwan want this?
“They’re a bunch of brainless fools, easy to be manipulated.”
“Your sister’s right. You should interact with them less in the future.”
Ning Xiaoyao clicked his tongue and muttered to himself, “My sister told me not to interact with you.”
“What did you say?” Jiang Sheng’s voice was like ice shards.
Ning Xiaoyao chuckled dryly, “I said my house is almost here.”
His house was still five kilometers away.
Even the driver felt awkward.
Jiang Sheng didn’t ask further because it was pointless. Ning Qiutang’s initial attitude towards him had already made it clear.
It was normal for her to distrust him and fear him now.
So, were the things she said in her dreams true?
He thought about it carefully and felt it shouldn’t be true. Yes, it shouldn’t be true, but it wasn’t impossible.
Because from childhood, although he was cold and distant towards her, he never thought of harming her, let alone that kind of brutal torture.
Either Ning Qiutang did something that made him unbearable and he tortured her, but what could she have done to make him so angry?
Reasoning it out, Ning Qiutang’s initial reaction was that she said she should be with Shen Wanwan. So, she thought he liked Shen Wanwan. But according to her previous personality, she would have fought and competed, frantically destroying their relationship. But overnight, she started to fear, because of that dream.
If what she said was true, then it made sense that because he was with Shen Wanwan, she went crazy and targeted Shen Wanwan for revenge, thus provoking him, leading to him becoming unbearable and torturing her for Shen Wanwan’s sake?
The sky, which had been cloudless, suddenly became overcast with dark clouds, lightning flashed, and thunder roared.
Ning Xiaoyao was startled, “Weird, the weather forecast didn’t say it would rain!”
Jiang Sheng glanced at the dark sky, as if some danger was lurking, a storm about to break.
It seems I guessed right.
He curled his lips into a captivating smile, his icy gaze even more chilling, as if he could kill beyond the world, and no one could stop him.
Snap—the Buddhist bead on his wrist suddenly shattered, a single bead.
The broken bead shattered into pieces and fell to the ground.
Jiang Sheng frowned slightly. The moment the bead shattered, his heart felt as if it had been suddenly hammered by a nail. It wasn’t physical pain, but a pain he could feel without any wound.
Mental damage 999+!
His face turned pale in an instant. He picked up the bead on the ground and found that the fragments were strange. It wasn’t wood. What was it?
“Take me to Bosch Diagnostics.”
“Okay.” Uncle Wang glanced in the rearview mirror at the young master, “Whoa, why did Young Master Jiang’s face turn so pale all of a sudden?”
Are you sure you don’t need to go to the hospital?
Twenty kilometers away at the temple.
Old Master Jiang opened his eyes, his mind troubled.
The master suddenly rushed in: “Old Master, Jiang Sheng’s longevity tablet is broken.”
“Our plan might not work, he’s short-lived…”
“Don’t worry, let’s go see what’s going on.” Old Master Jiang disliked people mentioning that word.
The master, highly respected and quite capable, sighed under the old master’s stern gaze.
They then went to the hall.
Behind the golden Buddha statue, the little apprentice took out a tray, which held the broken longevity tablet.
“Amitabha Buddha, it seems this is destined.” The master had never encountered such a thing in his life.
In fact, the Jiang family’s young master had been plagued by misfortune since childhood. He almost died at birth, and it was his mother who held him and bowed three times and nine times at the temple to beg for blessings before he survived the snowy night.
When he was four, he fell into the water and almost drowned.
At the age of nine, he was kidnapped and taken to a foreign country. Those ruthless criminals could have tortured him to death, but this young master miraculously crawled out from among the dead. After being rescued, at the age of sixteen, he went alone into the dangerous Golden Triangle to avenge himself, killing their leader and those who had hurt him.
Then, four years ago at the Qingmu Sanatorium, Jiang Sheng attempted suicide several times, but never succeeded. The old master always thought it was a problem with the family’s feng shui.
Until, the old master once again sought help from this temple. He believed that since they could save his grandson before, they could certainly save him now.
With the master’s help, they made a longevity tablet for their family, enjoying endless incense to prolong Jiang Sheng’s life. The master said Jiang Sheng was destined to have a short life.
The old master didn’t believe it. How could a person’s life be predetermined? Who was heaven? Damn it, he was heaven.
“Alright, stop talking about bad luck. Jiang Sheng hasn’t done anything recently, how could the longevity tablet break?”
Old Master Jiang’s face was grim. The Jiang family had high hopes for Jiang Sheng. Fortune-tellers all said that Jiang Sheng was the peak of their Jiang family’s prosperity and wealth. It could be said that the Jiang family was already very rich and powerful, but only Jiang Sheng could take them further.
Besides, he valued Jiang Sheng not just because of family interests. Jiang Sheng was raised by him and his wife, treated like the apple of their eye. Although he was strict with him, it was because the boy was used to being reckless, regardless of the consequences.
Furthermore, the reason they didn’t let Ning Qiutang break off the engagement was because fortune-tellers had said that there was only one person in the world who could save Jiang Sheng, and that was Ning Qiutang. Their fate was a match made in heaven, and if they didn’t get married, it would be disastrous and lead to an early death.
The master kept turning his prayer beads: “I don’t know how to tell fortunes either. Logically, the prayer beads are with him, there shouldn’t be any problems.”
He couldn’t figure it out.
Old Master Jiang’s face was ugly: “Get my thousand-pound hammer, I’m going to smash this Buddha statue.”
“Wait, wait, don’t say there’s no way, just get them engaged first.”
The master quickly stopped the brute. This guy used to be a general, he was different, always resorting to force.
Old Master Jiang rolled his eyes at him: “So eager, the girl just turned eighteen.”
Besides, the little girl from the Ning family clearly didn’t want to marry him. How could he get them engaged?
The master said: “It’s going to happen sooner or later anyway, get them engaged early to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.”
