“Are you feeling better? Are you in pain? Should I buy you some medicine?”
A strange man I’ve never seen before is yelling and worrying at the same time.
What is going on? If the man from last night was a succubus from hell, this one might have been an angel from heaven.
Although he looked a bit rough and rough, he wasn’t as vicious as the nightmare from last night.
“Don’t do this again. What are you going to do if you get sued? You’ll only get hurt and hate from others. What are you doing…! The chairman is no longer here, so you need to come to your senses. If this continues, the vice chairman will take over the group. Young Master… Are you listening? Young Master, Leoruka?”
But the angel’s words became increasingly strange. Do they call the residents of heaven “Master” these days?
And who are the chairman and vice chairman?
There were a lot of things I wanted to know, but I decided to start with the thing I was most curious about.
“But who are you?”
As I stared blankly, bewildered, the man closed his mouth. He narrowed his eyes and remained silent for a moment before opening his mouth.
“Who am I…?”
“Yes…”
“Leoruka, Why are you like this?”
“Who is Leoruca?”
The man who had been staring at me with disbelief gradually distorted his expression. After a while of silence, he finally screamed toward the driver’s seat in a trembling voice.
“Get to the hospital, to the Kaisa Medical Center! Right now!”
“Yes, sir!”
The sedan skidded quickly along with the driver’s urgent voice.
I was dragged to the hospital, and after being moved here and there with my incompetent body and undergoing all sorts of tests, I was finally diagnosed with a problem.
The diagnosis was ‘short-term amnesia due to psychological shock’.
What? Amnesia? Who…… Could it be me? There’s no way I have amnesia.
Of course, I remember my past exactly.
My name is Kwon Tae-young, a 20-year-old orphan.
Abandoned in a coffin at a time I don’t even remember, I ran away from an orphanage at the age of 15 and went through all kinds of hardships while moving from one goshiwon[1]a type of single-room occupancy building in South Korea that provides lodging and meals for a set period of time — a low rented shared apartment of limited space to another.
The reality was not easy for an orphan who didn’t even have a high school diploma to stand on his own.
Still, I was born with an optimistic and positive personality, so I worked hard and did my best, believing that one day my life would be brighter. However, if I had known that I would freeze to death in a cold storage warehouse at a logistics center at the age of twenty, I would have just left.
Now, I feel sad that I lived a life of struggling without ever touching alcohol or cigarettes, saying that I was saving money.
“It seems that the Master, have amnesia, director…”
Anyway, there was absolutely no reason for me to receive this diagnosis at a hospital with the grand name of ‘Kaisa Medical Center’.
I was locked in a freezer, shivering and freezing to death, but when I opened my eyes. I suddenly found myself as a ‘young master with amnesia’.
How am I supposed to believe this? The initial guess that this was either heaven or hell was much more plausible.
But the grim-looking man who was called ‘Mr. Director’ by the driver and the doctor, who I still don’t know if he was an angel or not, denied my speculation outright and pushed the amnesia theory.
For example, it went like this: “So, you don’t remember anything. Your Majesty?”
“I remember. My name is Kwon Tae-young, I’m 20 years old, and I’m exempt from military service…”
“You don’t even remember the name? What are you talking about, military?”
“Yes? Then I have to go to the military?”
“Why would the successor of the Caesar family join the military?”
“What about the Caesar family…?”
The long and tedious battle between the ‘Director’ and me continued in the reception room of the magnificent mansion I arrived at after leaving the hospital.
However, no matter how much I insisted that I was me, the Director’s stubbornness in insisting that I was not me, was extraordinary.
In the end, after being thoroughly ripped off by him for half a day, I had no choice but to surrender and accept that everything the director said was true.
After the traffic control was done, the director’s argument started like this.
First of all, my name is not Kwon Tae-young, but Leoruca dei Caesar.
I am the only descendant and successor of the Caesar family… What…?
Second, the Kaiser family is a prestigious wolf clan with an excellent bloodline that has lasted for hundreds of years…
I decided to just stay silent and listen, but at this point I couldn’t help but interrupt the director’s nonsense.
“Wait a minute… What? A wolf?”
The director raised one eyebrow as if to ask, “What’s the big deal?”
“Yes, the wolf clan. The Kaiser family is a beast family that has produced gray wolves for generations.”
Suin… Are you talking about the Suin[2]Like — Beast-men who uses the character for beast and the character for human? Isn’t that too much of a transcendent development?
I couldn’t just let this go, so I asked in a demanding tone.
“So you’re saying I’m not a human but a wolf?”
“Hmm…”
Then, unexpectedly, the director’s stern expression softened as if he was embarrassed. He swallowed several times and cautiously opened his mouth while looking at me.
“Actually, you are not a werewolf.”
“Oh, really?”
Fortunately, it wasn’t a wolf! But what happened next wasn’t fortunate at all.
“Yeah, you’re a puppy.”
“What…?”
“…puppy.”
“…..”
“This is a small dog. It’s so cute.”
The director drew a small space between his thick thumb and index finger.
