They said they were greeting people, but their attention kept drifting to the side.
Jiang Ning wore a professional fake smile.
Shen Mo knew that Jiang Ning didn’t like crowds, so after exchanging a few greetings, he strode towards his own yard.
Yang Zhengtu and Qian Feng followed behind.
Jiang Ning had been walking ahead, but her legs, compared to the long legs of these men who were over six feet tall, were like little short legs.
It took her two steps to match their one.
Jiang Ning didn’t want to fall behind, and even if she had to run, she would keep up.
But she overestimated her little short legs.
When they reached the gate of their yard, Shen Mo took out the key and opened the door, finally letting out a sigh of relief. Then he looked to the side.
“?”
Where was his wife?
Jiang Ning appeared from behind him, startling Shen Mo.
She hadn’t thought much of it, but Shen Mo’s straightforward behavior and her blistered foot made her feel an inexplicable sense of resentment.
Halfway through the walk, she had noticed her heel was blistered, and now she was limping slightly.
Seeing this, Shen Mo immediately handed the items to Yang Zhengtu and Qian Feng and asked Jiang Ning anxiously, “What’s wrong with your foot?”
Jiang Ning looked up, her eyes glistening with tears, and said truthfully, “The new shoes are rubbing.”
Shen Mo looked at her foot and saw a patch of redness on her heel.
Just as he was about to step forward, Yang Zhengtu and Qian Feng, who had been putting the items away, came out.
Yang Zhengtu asked, “Brother Shen, is there anything else you need help with?”
Shen Mo, still focused on Jiang Ning’s foot, didn’t look up. “It’s getting late. You should head back.”
Yang Zhengtu had a pained expression on his face. “Really, Brother Shen? We came to help, and you’re not even offering us a meal!”
“I’ll treat you to a meal another time, now get lost,” Shen Mo said, his mind completely preoccupied with his wife’s sore foot.
Yang Zhengtu laughed and said, “Alright~ Brother Qian, the Deputy Regiment Commander doesn’t want us here, let’s go.”
Jiang Ning, whose foot was hurting badly, didn’t bother responding to them and was about to enter the door, holding onto the doorframe.
Suddenly, she felt light on her feet, and the world spun around her. She found herself face down, unable to help but let out a soft cry.
How did this man manage to throw her over his shoulder!
In novels, the male lead always carried the girl like a princess.
Shen Mo’s arm rested at the girl’s waist, which was very slim and could be encircled with one hand. She was light and delicate, much lighter than the weights he usually trained with. The hand holding her slender waist instinctively curled slightly.
It was a softness he had never felt before.
While living in the military dormitory, he often heard his subordinates say some embarrassing crude jokes.
At the time, he didn’t think much of it, but now, with a warm, soft, and fragrant body in his arms, he realized how hard it was to be a gentleman.
Suppressing the strange feelings in his heart, Shen Mo walked steadily into the yard, his muscles firm and strong.
Jiang Ning, carried over Shen Mo’s shoulder, could feel his solid muscles.
Her soft abdomen pressed against his shoulder, making her feel a bit nauseous. Just as the nausea began, Shen Mo placed her on a swing to sit.
The swing was just the right height, leaving her legs dangling when she sat down.
Shen Mo didn’t move away but instead crouched down in front of her.
When he grabbed her ankle, Jiang Ning was startled and instinctively tried to pull back, but the hand holding her was like an iron clamp.
She held onto the swing ropes with both hands, unable to stop Shen Mo.
Shen Mo decisively removed her shoe and examined her heel. One heel was red, while the other had a more severe abrasion.
“I’m sorry,” Shen Mo said, his eyes lowered. He had bought the shoes and hadn’t expected them to hurt her.
Jiang Ning didn’t like being seen as delicate, and she wasn’t, but Shen Mo’s actions made it seem like he was pampering her excessively, treating every little scrape as if it caused her great pain.
She said, “It’s normal for new shoes to rub. You don’t need to apologize. After wearing them a couple of times, they won’t rub anymore.”
“I’ll take you inside,” Shen Mo said.
Jiang Ning quickly spoke up, “Don’t carry me!”
Shen Mo frowned and looked at her, wondering how else he could take her inside.
Seeing that he was sticking to his straightforward way of thinking, Jiang Ning said, “I can walk by myself. A blister isn’t the same as a sprained foot. It only hurts if you touch the blistered area.”
She was quite puzzled. He had female friends and even bought skincare products, so how could he be so straightforward!
Seeing that Jiang Ning was determined not to let him carry her, Shen Mo didn’t insist.
Jiang Ning watched him stand up. “There are slippers in the bag of daily necessities. Can you get them for me?”
Shen Mo went inside and brought her the slippers. As he stepped out of the main room, he saw Jiang Ning sitting on the swing, swaying gently in the night breeze. He watched for a few seconds before walking over.
He crouched down and placed the slippers by her feet.
Jiang Ning had noticed earlier that with every movement, his clothes tightened, revealing the sexy muscle lines from his arms to his back.
And this man had effortlessly thrown her over his shoulder. The palm that had landed on her waist was large, almost able to encircle her waist with one hand.
If he had squeezed her hard, it would have hurt a lot.
If they were talking about duration, could it last 180 minutes?
Suddenly, inappropriate thoughts flooded her mind, and Jiang Ning felt her face burning up.
What the heck!
Why was she thinking about these things?!
As it grew darker, Jiang Ning thought Shen Mo wouldn’t be able to see her.
However, she didn’t know that Shen Mo’s vision was famously excellent in the military. Even in the dark, he could see clearly.
Seeing Jiang Ning cover her flushed face with her hand, he suddenly felt his throat go dry.
Jiang Ning rubbed her face to cool down the heat.
Then she jumped off the swing, put on the slippers, and went inside the house.
Shen Mo, worried that Jiang Ning might be hungry, turned and left the yard after seeing her enter the room.
It was early autumn, so they didn’t need thick quilts. They had bought some simple thin blankets while shopping at the mall.
The house had been cleaned thoroughly by Shen Mo and his team. Jiang Ning spread the thin blanket, hung the new clothes in the wardrobe, and thought that the empty room could be gradually filled with more items.
After tidying up her own room, she remembered the small room where Shen Mo would sleep. She picked up a thin blanket and went to the other room.
Pushing open the door to the small room, Jiang Ning thought her own bedroom was already quite spacious. However, this small room had nothing but a bed and was even smaller than her bedroom.
Shen Mo was such a tall and strong man. Imagining him sleeping here made Jiang Ning feel sorry for him.
She quickly and efficiently made Shen Mo’s bed.
Suddenly, she smelled the fragrant scent of scallions, which was quite pleasant. She walked out of the room, puzzled, and immediately saw Shen Mo busy in the kitchen.
The smoke from the stove curled upwards, and Jiang Ning was a bit surprised.
This man really knows how to cook.
Following the aroma, Jiang Ning walked over to see if she could help. Just as she arrived, Shen Mo turned around, holding two bowls of scallion noodles.
“Be careful!” Jiang Ning appeared so suddenly that Shen Mo only had time to move the bowl away.
The movement was too abrupt, and some of the hot broth spilled onto his hand.
The freshly boiled water scalded his hand, immediately turning it red.
He placed the bowl on the stove, ignoring his own hand, and first checked if Jiang Ning had been burned.
