Chapter 14 : You Are My Wife
To verify her idea, Su Ranran followed the method and added a bucket of water. Then, she drew a bowl of water and placed it in front of the chicken coop.
Just when she was about to call the two hens like her mother-in-law, she didn’t expect that the two hens would rush over by themselves.
Su Ranran just watched the two chickens, clucking and drinking the water in the bowl. It was obvious from their cheerful appearance that they liked the water in the bowl very much.
Seeing this, Su Ranran couldn’t help but fall silent.
Wouldn’t her space water be too concentrated?
But she only put a drop!
For a moment, she couldn’t help but regret it. What if these two chickens lay three eggs a day, wouldn’t their family be watched by the villagers every day?
Also, what should she do with the bucket of water later? Wouldn’t it be a waste to pour it into the ditch?
As soon as Shen He entered the door, he saw his wife staring at the two chickens drinking water intently, and her fair little face was almost wrinkled into a bun.
“Ranran, what are you doing?”
He deliberately made his footsteps heavier for fear of scaring her. But Su Ranran was already feeling guilty, even though he had spoken in advance, she was still startled.
Seeing that she seemed to tremble, Shen He’s heart tightened. He took a big step forward and supported her, “Are you okay?”
Su Ranran: …
Seeing his face full of self-blame, she felt a little sorry, it was obviously her own fault.
“I’m fine, can you help me carry this water to the shower room? I want to take a shower.”
Su Ranran thought about it and decided to take it for a shower, so that other people wouldn’t find out something was wrong after drinking it.
But as soon as she said that, she suddenly remembered that she had just taken a shower in the morning!
It’s not even three o’clock now, what kind of shower is that?
With a little embarrassment on her face, Su Ranran was about to explain that she was going to take a shower later, when she saw Shen He nodded.
“I’ll go boil some hot water and mix it.”
He didn’t ask her why she took two baths in broad daylight, as if he didn’t think she was wasting water at all.
After all, the water nowadays is carried by manpower.
But how could Su Ranran feel so at ease to waste water? Just when she was about to call him, she saw the two hens begin to cluck. They looked around as if they were looking for a place to lay eggs.
Seeing this, Su Ranran’s attention was successfully diverted. Holding her breath, she carefully observed where the two chickens would lay eggs. But the two chickens were obviously very smart. They just clucked and didn’t move. They looked like she would never know where they laid eggs.
Su Ranran: …
After waiting for a long time, seeing that there was no way to squat to the place where the hens laid eggs, Su Ranran had to give up with regret.
After a pause, she turned around and went to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, Shen He was sitting in front of the stove and burning a fire. His thighs couldn’t be stretched out in the narrow space, and he looked a little cramped.
Seeing this, Su Ranran stepped forward.
“Let me do it.”
But how could Shen He let her do this?
She had just gotten pregnant and was in such poor health.
“It’s hot here, wait a minute next to you, you’ll be fine soon.”
After being rejected, Su Ranran had to move a stool and sit next to him and wait.
In her last life, she was afraid and didn’t dare to look at him too much, so that later on, apart from those eyes, she only had a vague impression of other details. She only knew that he was tall and powerful.
It seemed as if just one finger could make her powerless to resist.
Perhaps her mood was different. When she sat next to him again, her eyes seemed to have their own consciousness, and she unconsciously followed his movements.
The man’s well-defined hands were holding a piece of firewood and pushing it into the stove hole in an orderly manner.
He was obviously burning a fire, but the action was as if he was doing something important, rigorous, and meticulous. When her eyes moved to his well-defined facial features, Su Ranran’s heart skipped a beat.
“It’ll be fine soon,” Shen He said, turning to her, probably thinking she was getting impatient.
Su Ranran: …
She wasn’t impatient!
But she was embarrassed to admit she was simply fascinated by him. In the end, Su Ranran had to pretend nothing had happened and find a topic to talk about.
“Will the two of them be locked up?”
Shen He knew she was referring to the couple from the hotel this morning. After a pause, he said, “Probably not.”
Today’s female comrade was indeed strange, but her flamboyant outfit pretty much ruled her out for being locked up. After all, she was so eye-catching that she would be the center of attention wherever she went. It was just that the origin of her necklace was unclear, which was quite troublesome. It’s hard to say when she can return home.
“Oh~” Su Ranran replied. Though it was expected, she still felt a little disappointed.
After all, in her dream, Li Xueqiu’s luck seemed a bit too good to be true. It was unrealistic for her to end up in jail in the first round. But today had already been an unexpected gain, at least the two of them had to suffer. Still, Su Ranran had exposed herself from the shadows into the light.
But Su Ranran didn’t regret it. She and Shen He had suffered too much in her past life. And Li Xueqiu’s discomfort was just beginning.
“Is there something wrong with her?”
My wife is the kindest and doesn’t blush easily, but she seemed full of hostility when she saw that female comrade for the first time.
Su Ranran: …
How could she explain that she had been hurt by her in her past life? That would sound like hysteria. But Li Xueqiu’s behavior made her realize this wasn’t her imagination.
“I don’t like the way she calls you Brother Shen in that delicate voice,” Su Ranran said after thinking for a moment.
But recalling Li Xueqiu’s invasive gaze, Su Ranran couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable. After all, in her past life, Li Xueqiu had been involved in a dubious profession. What good could Su Ranran think of with such a lecherous gaze?
Seeing her angry face, Shen He couldn’t help but laugh, and his heart softened immensely.
“I didn’t notice it.”
He was only concerned with protecting his wife and didn’t care about bystanders at all. He didn’t even notice if the man was attractive or not.
If another man had said this, Su Ranran would have assumed he was just trying to flatter her. But for some reason, Shen He’s words made her believe him.
With a smile on her lips, she admitted that she felt much better now.
Not mentioning the two people who had spoiled the mood, Su Ranran shifted the topic to her own work.
“You don’t have to go. I told my mother last year.”
He had already told his family before returning to the army last year that he would add five yuan to the household expenses every month, and his wife could contribute as much or as little as she wanted.
Su Ranran: …
No wonder she was so weak at work, they hardly ever made things difficult for her. If it were another daughter-in-law, she would have been tortured by now.
She hadn’t expected he had arranged everything for her.
The more truth she learned, the more bitter her heart became.
“Why are you so good to me?” Su Ranran couldn’t help but ask. She couldn’t understand how he could be so kind to her after such a short time together.
Hearing this, Shen He was stunned. The shock he had felt when he first saw her in the team flashed through his mind. It turned out that the person in his dream actually existed!
No one knew that he had been having dreams about her since he was a teenager. He thought they were just dreams, but she really appeared in front of him! Even the small red mole on the back of her neck was exactly the same. And the pair of blinking eyes in front of him finally overlapped with the ones in his dreams.
There was no panic or fear, only dependence and coquettishness.
“Because… you are my wife.”
Maybe it was in a past life.
