Release the Female Lead Ch. 707

Chapter 707: Everything’s Fine!

Sword Ghost nodded. Ye Wenxin poured out the cup’s contents while calling Sword Ghost’s name. An identical cup instantly appeared before Sword Ghost. She lifted it, took a tiny sip, and remarked, “How fragrant.”

Ye Wenxin continued drinking her tea without replying. Her leisurely demeanor deepened Sword Ghost’s confusion. “Master, hasn’t anything happened today?”

Ye Wenxin was usually so busy. But now, she had the time to sit here drinking tea, which Sword Demon found incomprehensible.

Ye Wenxin downed her tea before replying, “No, today’s especially quiet.” She reached out to stroke Sword Ghost’s head, her eyes showing a rare tenderness.

Sword Ghost’s heart skipped a beat. She pursed her lips, thinking Ye Wenxin might have another request. But instead, Ye Wenxin’s gaze softened as if she had returned to her usual self.

“Master, did Gui Gui do something again?” Sword Ghost couldn’t help but ask another question. She seemed curious about what had happened between Ye Wenxin and Ghost Mother.

Ye Wenxin poured herself another cup of peach blossom tea, sipped gently, and replied, “Don’t you know? You and she are one.”

Sword Ghost shook her head. “I don’t know what skills Gui Gui has learned. Whenever I try to check on her lately, I see nothing. Master, did she trouble you while we were switched again?”

Sword Ghost’s tone carried a hint of unease. She worried Ghost Mother might have done something exorbitant that would implicate her. Every time Ghost Mother committed a wrong, it was poor Sword Ghost who had to bear the ensuing storm.

“Is that so?” Ye Wenxin suppressed her doubts. She asked for information from Sword Ghost. “Then have you noticed anything unusual while following Ran’er?”

Sword Ghost organized her thoughts before answering, “Liu Churan appeared to be hurrying somewhere. Her twin subordinates said she’s heading toward the Azure Wings Sect.”

Ye Wenxin’s expression hardened. Liu Churan’s arrival couldn’t have come at a worse time.

“What do you think is her reason for coming here?” Ye Wenxin inquired. Sword Ghost pondered briefly before replying, “I think it’s you, Master. She’s been cursing your name nonstop, saying you’ve deceived her about something. She seems intent on tearing you to pieces.”

I deceived Ran’er!?” Ye Wenxin exclaimed in outrage. “I’d be burning incense and worshipping Buddha if she hadn’t deceived me yet! Wait.” She thought of Long Qingyue backing Fairy Zhuling. “Do you think Yue’er could have tipped her off to ruin me?”

It was a clusterf*ck. Fairy Fengya, Liu Churan, Ling Jue, Long Qingyue, and Jin Xiaoqin—these five gathered in one place spelled a recipe for disaster. Ye Wenxin had an ominous feeling. Only one thought remained in her mind—escape. Yet, the chaos in the Azure Wings Sect was her fault.

She had developed feelings for Jin Xiaoqin. How could she abandon her and the sect to their destruction? But if she didn’t escape, anyone could turn the Azure Wings Sect upside down. Moreover, her efforts with Fatty and the Cozy Gang were also at stake. She had to weigh whether running away was the right choice.

Ye Wenxin went silent. Sword Ghost saw her frown. She stopped talking and quietly stayed by her side. As Ye Wenxin struggled to come up with a perfect solution, footsteps sounded outside.

“Cultivator Ye, Her Highness requests your presence.” A familiar voice called out—it was Long Qing’er’s most trusted Secret Guard. Ye Wenxin stood, walked over, and opened the door.

There was a trace of shyness on the Secret Guard’s face. She had been accompanying Ye Wenxin these past few days. The illusions Ye Wenxin had conjured made her think Ye Wenxin actually did something to her.

“Again?” Ye Wenxin said in exasperation. “Does she think I don’t get tired at night?” The Secret Guard looked slightly disappointed but hid it well. She silently accompanied Ye Wenxin.

Left with no other choice, Ye Wenxin agreed once more. She was soon brought to the usual underground chamber. It had meticulous arrangements, with a new variety of flowers.

Ye Wenxin took a seat. The Secret Guard quickly leaned over, going straight to the point.

Ye Wenxin refused this time. “I’ll wait for your princess today.”

“But…” The Secret Guard blinked, shocked Ye Wenxin would refuse her.

“You’re fine,” Ye Wenxin calmly said. “But the one I most wish to see is your Princess Qing’er.” The Secret Guard grew distressed.

She abruptly dropped to her knees, using the same tactic as before.

“I beg you, Cultivator Ye.” The Secret Guard quivered as she pleaded. “Her Highness will kill us if you reject me.”

The other Secret Guards joined in, imploring Ye Wenxin not to refuse. Ye Wenxin sighed. After consideration, she said, “Let’s start, then.”

Ye Wenxin pulled them all into an illusion. She slipped out of the room with ease. She had grown accustomed to wandering during the illusion’s duration. Ye Wenxin wanted to see what was hidden in this place that had made her so restless recently.

She soon came upon a sealed stone door. Ye Wenxin’s curiosity grew. Pushing the door open, she saw a room filled with gold and silver treasures. It was Long Qing’er’s secret stash, which Ye Wenxin found boring. She hoped for something interesting.

As she inspected the room, her eyes landed on a button. Intrigued, she reached out and pressed it. Suddenly, another door slid open, revealing a secret passage. The passage stretched deep into the distance. Driven by curiosity, Ye Wenxin ventured inside. She eventually came across several cages.

Inside the cages were humans with lifeless expressions, resembling zombies. Fairy Zhuling probably kept them as backup bodies. Ye Wenxin’s gaze wandered until she spotted a familiar face.

She had once seen that face among the Secret Guards before. Back then, the woman had been defiant and lost her temper at Ye Wenxin. Ye Wenxin had a lasting impression of her. But that once-proud individual was imprisoned here. Ye Wenxin’s curiosity deepened. She continued to observe her surroundings, searching for answers.

It took only a turn of her head to glimpse something that gave her the creeps. A flower taller than the average human stood behind her. It bloomed enchantingly, as if alive. But that wasn’t all. What emerged from the flower’s pistil was the main reason Ye Wenxin felt so shaken.
