Chapter 68: Exposed? 2
Qin Ruyan put down her cup and pulled Lu Jingchen’s hand, walking outside. Behind them, Cheng Yubai watched the two walk away, shaking his head.
They got in the car, neither of them spoke. Lu Jingchen didn’t ask her anything.
Qin Ruyan hesitated for a while before speaking, “You should know about Cheng Yubai, right? He’s a very good doctor. I found out that my parents were on a business trip, presenting this research, when the accident happened. After that, the research never yielded any results.”
Lu Jingchen didn’t start the car, just listened to her.
“I was wondering if their deaths were related to this research. Currently, the most skilled person in the domestic medical field is Cheng Yubai.”
She hesitated for a moment, then said, “I told you before that I was short of money because I invested all the funds in his research. The main reason I wanted to open a studio was also because of this.”
Qin Ruyan skipped over the issue of her physical condition. Currently, she didn’t feel any discomfort, her body felt normal. But Cheng Yubai said there were some abnormalities in her blood, whether it was good or bad was uncertain.
Lu Jingchen nodded, “I know. From now on, the money you invest in Cheng Yubai will be deducted from my account. Keep your own money for buying things.”
He leaned over and pinched her ear, then smiled.
“I just didn’t expect you to be able to get Cheng Yubai to agree? Even the First Hospital in Beijing offered him a position, but he refused.”
Qin Ruyan smiled, her eyes flickering as if she was thinking of something.
“A few years ago, I was abroad and helped him with a small matter. He values human relationships quite a bit, you know?”
She brushed it off casually. Although Lu Jingchen had many questions, he knew that if she didn’t want to say it, asking wouldn’t help.
He frowned, then said, “Why can’t you think of me first when you need help?”
Qin Ruyan’s heart suddenly beat faster. She turned her head, and Lu Jingchen looked at her seriously.
“I didn’t know you then,” she said lightly. Lu Jingchen just smiled and didn’t say anything more.
“Okay, from now on, remember that if you encounter something you can’t solve, you have to come to me first, understand?”
Qin Ruyan glanced at him and nodded.
Lu Jingchen sat up straight, started the car, and drove towards Yujingyuan.
Qin Ruyan’s phone vibrated with a WeChat message. She opened it and saw it was from Cheng Yubai.
Cheng Yubai: Little Yan, what’s your relationship with Lu Jingchen?
Qin Ruyan raised her eyebrows, holding her phone with one hand and replying.
A Cabbage: My legal husband.
On the other side, Cheng Yubai sent her a string of ellipses. She replied with a string of ellipses as well.
Qin Ruyan put away her phone and looked at Lu Jingchen.
“Going home now?”
Lu Jingchen hummed, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, his hands gripping the steering wheel. The sun was about to set, and the setting sun shone through the window, casting a warm glow on the two of them, highlighting his handsome features.
“It’s almost dinner time, what do you want to eat? Let’s agree beforehand, no more milk tea, you had one before we left.”
Qin Ruyan nodded, “Then how about steamed sea bass and spicy crayfish?”
Lu Jingchen turned his head to look at her while waiting for the red light, “One light, one spicy?”
She nodded, making a reasonable argument.
“Spicy food makes you easy to get a heat rash. Eating some light food to balance it out, it’s basically the same as not getting a heat rash.”
Lu Jingchen lowered his head, watching her fair and slender fingers clasp his hand, his lips curled into a smile.
Qin Ruyan took out her phone, scrolled through WeChat, pulled down, found Cheng Yubai’s profile picture, and clicked on it.
Ten minutes ago, he sent her the box number.
She glanced at it, put away her phone, tilted her head, and looked at Lu Jingchen, “Inside the box.”
Lu Jingchen just nodded. Until now, he hadn’t asked her who she was meeting today.
The two walked inside. Qin Ruyan looked at the box number outside, and two minutes later, she stopped in front of a door.
She glanced at Lu Jingchen, hesitated for a moment, but didn’t speak.
Qin Ruyan didn’t knock, she pushed the door open and walked in.
Inside the box, Cheng Yubai had arrived fifteen minutes earlier. He wasn’t in a hurry when he arrived, ordered a cup of coffee, and ordered a cup of milk tea for Qin Ruyan.
He knew Qin Ruyan was always punctual, and he didn’t send a message to urge her. He sipped his coffee slowly, occasionally looking out the window, until he heard a voice pushing the door open behind him. He came back to his senses, turned his head slowly, but was stunned when he saw the two people who came in together.
Standing beside Qin Ruyan was a man, tall and long-legged, with exquisite features, steady and elegant, wearing a black shirt and casual trousers, one could tell at a glance that he was no ordinary person. The two were even holding hands as they entered.
More importantly, he recognized this person.
Lu Jingchen, the current head of the Lu Group, the head of the Lu family. People in the capital call him Young Master Lu.
He opened his mouth, but the “Xiao Yan’er” that was about to come out of his mouth couldn’t be uttered.
Qin Ruyan raised her chin, looking at Cheng Yubai’s hesitant expression, she pulled Lu Jingchen in, closed the door of the box, and the two sat opposite Cheng Yubai.
“Cheng Yubai,” she introduced Lu Jingchen, then turned her head to look at Cheng Yubai, throwing him a bombshell, “This is Lu Jingchen.”
Lu Jingchen nodded, let go of her hand, got up and stretched out his hand, “Hello, I’m Lu Jingchen.”
Cheng Yubai reacted for a long time before he came to his senses. He mechanically stood up, mechanically greeted Lu Jingchen, and mechanically sat down.
He now seriously doubted whether he had been drinking too much last night and hadn’t rested well. He was seeing things? Otherwise, how could Qin Ruyan be involved with someone like Lu Jingchen?
Lu Jingchen’s expression didn’t seem unusual. Although he was also surprised that Qin Ruyan was meeting Cheng Yubai today, he had previously found out that Qin Ruyan had transferred funds to Cheng Yubai, so he could roughly guess that there was some connection between the two.
Qin Ruyan looked at the stunned Cheng Yubai opposite her. She stretched out her finger and tapped on the table, her voice a little hoarse when she spoke.
“What about the experimental progress you mentioned before?”
Cheng Yubai came back to his senses and looked at Lu Jingchen sitting next to her, hesitated for a moment before speaking.
“It’s a bit like the case Professor Qin Zheng was researching before.”
Qin Ruyan had provided him with a blood sample some time ago. He had observed it for a few days, conducted many experiments and tests, and also looked up a lot of literature. He had even flipped through medical classics several times.
Qin Ruyan casually hummed, “I know what you’re talking about.”
Lu Jingchen frowned when he heard this. She was looking for Cheng Yubai to investigate the matter of her parents?
Qin Ruyan glanced at Lu Jingchen from the corner of her eye. She picked up the milk tea and sipped it slowly before looking at Cheng Yubai, “If there’s no other information, we’ll go first.”
Cheng Yubai nodded. He still hadn’t recovered from his shock.
Qin Ruyan put down her cup and pulled Lu Jingchen’s hand, heading out. Behind them, Cheng Yubai watched their retreating figures, shaking his head.
They got into the car, neither speaking. Lu Jingchen didn’t ask her anything.
Qin Ruyan hesitated for a while before speaking, “You should know about Cheng Yubai, right? He’s a very skilled doctor. I found out that my parents were on their way to a conference to present their research when the accident happened. After that, the research never came to fruition.”
Lu Jingchen didn’t start the car, just listening to her.
“I wondered if their deaths were related to this research. Currently, the most skilled person in the domestic medical field is Cheng Yubai.”
She hesitated again, then continued, “I told you I needed money before because I invested it in his research. The main reason I wanted to open a studio was also for this.”
Qin Ruyan skipped over the issue of her own health. Currently, she wasn’t feeling any discomfort, her body felt normal. But Cheng Yubai said there were some abnormalities in her blood, whether it was good or bad was uncertain.
Lu Jingchen nodded, “I know. From now on, any money you invest in Cheng Yubai will be deducted from my account. Keep your money for yourself to buy things.”
He leaned over and pinched her ear, then smiled.
“I just didn’t expect you to be able to get Cheng Yubai to agree? Even when the First Hospital in the Capital offered him a position, he refused.”
Qin Ruyan smiled, her eyes flickering as if recalling something.
“A few years ago, I was abroad and helped him with a small matter. He values favors, I guess?”
She brushed it off, and although Lu Jingchen had many questions, he knew that if she didn’t want to say it, asking wouldn’t help.
He frowned, then said, “Why can’t you think of me first when you need help?”
Qin Ruyan’s heart suddenly sped up. She turned her head, and Lu Jingchen was looking at her seriously.

“Okay, from now on, remember that if you encounter something you can’t solve, you have to come to me first, understand?”
Qin Ruyan glanced at him and nodded.
Lu Jingchen sat up straight, started the car, and headed towards the Imperial Garden Villa.
Qin Ruyan’s phone buzzed with a WeChat message. She opened it and saw it was from Cheng Yubai.
Cheng Yubai: Little Yan, what’s your relationship with Lu Jingchen?
Qin Ruyan raised an eyebrow, holding her phone with one hand, and replied.

While waiting for the red light, Lu Jingchen turned his head to look at her, “One light, one spicy?”
She nodded, sounding very reasonable.
“Spicy food makes you prone to heatiness. Eating some light food to balance it out, it’s basically the same as not getting heatiness.”
