Chapter 22: Who’s the Undercover Agent? (First Update)
Trust me, darling…
As Gu Si approached against the wind, holding a torch, Ning Qingyan weakly waved her tired hand. “Brother! We’re here! Can you climb up?”
At the same time, everyone’s earpieces buzzed with notifications of eliminations.
“Lin Qingqing, OUT. Lin Qingqing, OUT. Lin Qingqing, OUT.”
“Wen Shijin, OUT. Wen Shijin, OUT. Wen Shijin, OUT.”
The show director revealed the guests’ locations to the zombies, who were equipped with night-vision goggles, leaving no place to hide. Out of eight guests, four were quickly eliminated.
Live Comments:
“OMG, I thought Wen Shijin, lying on the rafters of the wooden house, was invincible. Who knew a horde of zombies would barge in and capture him alive!”
“Xu Ruanruan was so careless, opening the wooden house door and getting eliminated right away.”
“The female guests have it rough. Their stamina isn’t great, and the zombies can track them anywhere with those night-vision goggles.”
“Qiao Li is amazing! She’s the only female survivor and runs faster than the guys!”
“This show’s director has gone mad!”
Huo Qi glanced at the horde of zombies behind Gu Si and frowned. Supporting Ning Qingyan’s slender waist with one hand, he steadied her as she stood. Just as they regained balance, Gu Si tossed the torch in his hand toward Huo Qi’s right side.
“Catch.”
The torch spun twice in midair before flying toward Huo Qi. With quick reflexes, Huo Qi gently pushed Ning Qingyan further back with one hand and caught the torch with the other.
After throwing the torch, Gu Si took a few steps back for momentum, then swiftly scaled the wooden house’s roof.
Ning Qingyan, who had been fumbling in her bag for a rope to assist him, paused with trembling hands. Clinging to the tree trunk and climbing for so long had left her utterly exhausted.
Gu Si dusted off his hands and immediately glanced at Ning Qingyan, who was leaning on Huo Qi. His phoenix eyes narrowed as his lips tightened. Quickly closing the distance, he hooked his arm around her neck and pulled her effortlessly to his side.
“What’s with you? Sitting and leaning on someone, standing and leaning again?” Gu Si frowned as he looked down at her.
Completely drained, Ning Qingyan leaned into his hot, firm embrace. Unlike Huo Qi’s cool, grassy scent, Gu Si radiated heat and a masculine hormonal presence.
“Brother, I’m just exhausted. Also, weren’t you ignoring me earlier? Why are you being so nosy now?”
At her words, Gu Si’s assertiveness faltered. Recalling last night’s dream, his ears turned red, and he immediately released her.

Beside them, Huo Qi frowned slightly and helped Ning Qingyan steady herself before letting go.
In the dark, no one noticed Gu Si’s panicked and embarrassed expression. Trying to regain composure, he retorted stubbornly, “I wasn’t being nosy. I just can’t stand how weak you look. If it’s exhaustion, forget I said anything.”
Feigning innocence, Ning Qingyan teased, “Then why did you pull me into your arms instead of just letting me stand on my own?”
Gu Si coughed, blushing as he blurted out nonsense. “I was going for a chokehold.”
Ning Qingyan: “…”
As she stopped teasing him, Huo Qi interjected coldly, “Stop chatting and deal with the zombies.”
The group quickly worked together to fend off the zombies climbing up the wooden house. With torches to deter them, they managed to stay safe for the moment.
Meanwhile, the show’s director, watching the footage, frowned and barked into the radio, “Stop chasing Qiao Li! All zombies converge on Ning Qingyan’s group. Take those three out first!”
Live Comments:
“Relieved for Qiao Li, but if Ning Qingyan’s team goes down, they’re doomed.”
“This director is ruthless!”
“Gu Si’s luck is insane; he found torches just by entering a random house.”
“Lol, ‘going for a chokehold’—classic Gu Si!”
Having regained some energy, Ning Qingyan joined the fight, using her backpack to smack zombies attempting to climb up. Her precision was impeccable, as each hit triggered the zombies’ helmet sensors, marking their elimination.
Earpiece Updates:
“Ning Qingyan eliminated a zombie. +1 point.”
“…+1 point.”
“…+1 point.”
Her quick and relentless strikes were reminiscent of a whack-a-mole game, leaving Gu Si laughing uncontrollably as he tried to emulate her. Even the usually aloof Huo Qi couldn’t help but smile faintly.

Watching this from the recording room, the director trembled with frustration. “How many zombies do we have left?”
“Reporting, sir. All zombies eliminated!”
Hearing this, the director’s radio slipped from his grasp.
Live Comments:
“This is hilarious! I’ve laughed myself silly!”
“Ning Qingyan is too clever and adorable!”
“Director went from savage to defeated, lol!”
The director’s icy voice crackled through their earpieces.
“Princes and princesses, despite your efforts, the mutated zombies have taken heavy tolls. But the root cause of your losses lies with a traitor in your midst!”
“A mole among you revealed your hiding spots, leading to the elimination of your beloved CPs! Identify and eliminate the mole to achieve victory.”
“First place earns CP reshuffling privileges and bonus rewards. Last place faces the audience-voted punishment. Play seriously—no mercy!”
The atmosphere turned tense as the trio immediately separated.
“Say it—are you the mole?” Gu Si teased Ning Qingyan, grinning mischievously.
“I could ask you the same! Why did you lead a horde of zombies straight to us?”
Their mutual suspicion grew, while Huo Qi silently observed. But alliances shifted, and plans were hatched. Would the mole’s identity be revealed in time?
