Chapter 46: It Seems She’s Becoming Less Able to Resist Temptation

“Wife,” Shen Mo walked over.

Jiang Ning looked at the tall man approaching and smiled happily. “Shen Mo, Zhiqi called me Mom.”

Jiang Ning’s eyes smiled with joy, and Shen Mo saw her eyes curve.

The bright and beautiful girl looked even more charming when she smiled. He wondered why she was so happy about being called Mom.

Shen Mo walked over and helped Jiang Ning up from the ground. “He should have called you Mom a long time ago.”

“Let’s go, home.”

Jiang Ning held Huo Zhiqi’s hand.

Shen Mo’s gaze fell on their joined hands.

He wanted to hold her hand too.

He wanted to kiss her too.

Suddenly, a small hand reached out in front of him. Shen Mo looked up and met a pair of anxious eyes. The little one seemed to gather his courage before speaking, “Dad, can I hold your hand?”

“That’s the right way to call me Dad,” Shen Mo said, taking his hand. “Now that you’re on the same household registration as me, you should indeed call us Mom and Dad.”

Huo Zhiqi’s small hand trembled slightly, and his heart pounded. He now truly had a dad and a mom.

The shadows of the three of them were cast on the ground by the fading sunlight, slowly stretching out.

Jiang Ning suddenly remembered something and turned to look at Zhiqi. “By the way, did you just ask me if I was disappointed?”

Huo Zhiqi had just calmed his racing heart when the topic was brought up again.

“I am quite disappointed,” she said suddenly.

Before he could feel the chill, her fair hand tapped him on the head. “I’ve seen the problems you’ve solved. You can handle much harder problems than those on the test. How could you possibly get such simple questions wrong? Were you doing it on purpose?”

Huo Zhiqi lowered his head slightly and softly replied, “Yes.”

Jiang Ning gently lifted his chin to make him look up. “Don’t lower your head so often. You need to hold your head high and be proud!”

The sudden shift in the conversation caused Huo Zhiqi’s small brain to freeze.

Jiang Ning didn’t dwell too much on the issue with his test papers.

Back at home, the three of them had a cozy dinner together. After dinner, they spent some time digesting their food.

When Jiang Ning was about to go to the washroom to take a bath, she bumped into Shen Mo and Huo Zhiqi, who were also planning to take a bath.

“Wife, you go first. Zhiqi and I will take a quick rinse in the yard,” Shen Mo said, giving way to Jiang Ning. He even prepared hot water and poured it into the washroom’s bucket for her.

When Jiang Ning came out of the bath, Huo Zhiqi had already taken his bath and was back in the room doing his homework.

A splashing sound caught Jiang Ning’s attention. Shen Mo was sitting on a small stool in the yard, pouring water over himself with a ladle. His upper body was bare, and water was flowing down from his hair, over his well-defined face, and down his broad shoulders, outlining his muscles. The water seemed to paint a moving picture on his body.

Jiang Ning knew she was acting like a rogue as she swallowed.

It seemed she was becoming less able to resist temptation.

Maybe one day she should find an opportunity to pounce on this man; at least she wouldn’t be at a loss.

Shen Mo had no idea about the wild thoughts in his wife’s mind.

He took a wet towel, trying to wipe his back, but no matter how he tried, he couldn’t reach the entire back.

Seeing his awkward attempt to wipe his back, Jiang Ning thought for a moment and then walked over. “Let me help you.”

Shen Mo was startled, and he quickly turned his head. After looking at Jiang Ning for two seconds, he immediately handed the towel to her. “Okay.”

Jiang Ning took the towel and wiped his back. After a while, she said, “Keep pouring water.”

Shen Mo immediately responded, “Oh, okay.”

Shen Mo’s bath made Jiang Ning’s face turn red, and she couldn’t continue. She threw the towel back at Shen Mo and ran into the house.

Shen Mo also felt an itch that was hard to scratch.

The bold words Jiang Ning had spoken in Huo Zhiqi’s class quickly spread throughout the family compound.

Whenever Jiang Ning went to Old Master Huang’s clinic, people greeted her along the way.

That day, as Jiang Ning was returning home from the clinic, she noticed a jeep with a military license plate overturned on the side of the road.

There had been an accident.

Jiang Ning’s expression immediately became serious, and she quickly went over to check.

There were only two people in the car: one was unconscious, and the other had his leg trapped but was still conscious.

The conscious middle-aged man saw Jiang Ning and immediately felt a glimmer of hope. He urgently called out, “Comrade, please help me get him out.”

Jiang Ning knelt down and was shocked to see that the man who was trapped had a metal bar piercing through his thigh. It would be quite strenuous for her to rescue both adult men on her own.

Unfortunately, the car had overturned in an area where there were few people around.

Jiang Ning struggled to pull the unconscious man from the driver’s seat out of the car. The man in the passenger seat breathed a sigh of relief when he saw his companion being rescued.

Jiang Ning laid the rescued man flat on the ground and then reached into her bag for her portable acupuncture kit.

She quickly inserted two silver needles into the unconscious man’s body. The young man immediately woke up and, upon opening his eyes, saw the girl standing before him.

He was startled but quickly remembered something and rushed over to the nearby car, exclaiming, “Brigade Commander!”

The middle-aged man still trapped in the car was much more composed. Despite having a metal bar piercing through his thigh, he didn’t make a sound.

“Don’t shout. Get me out of here,” the trapped man said.

“Okay,” the other man responded and was about to go and rescue the man in the car.

“Wait!” Jiang Ning called out. “If you want him to bleed out and die here, go ahead and move him.”

Hearing this, the man immediately stopped and didn’t dare to move the trapped man.

Jiang Ning, holding her acupuncture kit, knelt down and inserted more than a dozen silver needles into the trapped man’s thigh.

Western medicine has its methods, and traditional Chinese medicine has its own.

As long as the bleeding could be stopped, the man’s life could be saved.

Wiping the sweat from her forehead, Jiang Ning said, “Alright, you can get him out now.”

The young man heard her and immediately pulled the man out of the car. Amazingly, the area where the middle-aged man’s thigh had been pierced was only bleeding slightly.

The young man quickly knelt down. “Brigade Commander, get on my back. I’ll carry you to the camp for treatment.”

Jiang Ning noticed that the silver needles were still in the man’s leg and thought for a moment. “There’s a clinic not far from here. If you want to get treated sooner, I can take you there.”

The middle-aged man without hesitation said, “Okay, let’s go to the clinic you mentioned.”
