“Squeak—”
Jiang Ning was jolted forward and slammed into Shen Mo’s back due to his sudden brake.
Her nose hit his bony back, causing tears to well up uncontrollably from the pain.
Shen Mo seemed not to notice her nose had been hurt. He paused for a moment before stepping back on the pedal and continuing to ride the bicycle.
Jiang Ning rubbed her nose for a while until the pain subsided. Shen Mo didn’t turn to look at her, so she couldn’t see the emotions in his eyes or know what he was thinking.
However, his prolonged silence and avoidance were clear indications that he was evading her question.
Jiang Ning patted him on the back, saying, “Shen Mo, I’m asking you something.”
The man in front finally responded, “It’s… not clear yet, maybe half… a year.”
Jiang Ning’s eyes lit up. When they first met, she had brought up the topic of divorce, and Shen Mo had agreed without hesitation. But his kindness towards her since then had been genuine.
Now, when she brought it up again, he wasn’t as quick to agree.
Jiang Ning felt like she had a bit of a dark lotus attribute.
She could sense his kindness towards her, the flawless family courtyard, his responsiveness to her needs, and the abundance of good things in the house.
Living together day and night, she wasn’t someone who missed such details.
Shen Mo was gradually occupying something within her.
And Shen Mo was a man. As a legitimate couple, if he wanted to, he could have taken her by force, and she wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it.
But he didn’t. Even when she invited him to sleep together, he remained honest and respectful, never crossing the line.
If it weren’t for the fact that Jiang Ning woke up every morning to see the fire in this man’s body, she would have wondered if something was wrong with him down there.
“Actually, not getting a divorce might be good, living a peaceful life…”
Before Jiang Ning could finish her sentence, there was another sudden brake, and her nose hit him again.
“Ah—”
This time she cried out, as the pain from the previous hit was still fresh, and the second impact made it even more painful.
Feeling frustrated, she slapped Shen Mo on the back.
His back was hard, and instead of hurting him, it hurt her hand. Jiang Ning accused him, “How come everything about you is so hard!”
“W… Wife, what did you just say?” Shen Mo stopped and turned to look at Jiang Ning.
As soon as he turned his head, he saw Jiang Ning with red eyes, tears glistening in her beautiful phoenix eyes but not falling.
“What’s wrong?”
Jiang Ning didn’t keep her feelings bottled up. “You braked too suddenly.”
Shen Mo remembered feeling two bumps from behind and, hearing her soft and delicate tone, immediately apologized, “Sorry, sorry.”
After apologizing, he just stared at her without saying anything.
Once the soreness in her nose subsided, Jiang Ning lifted her gaze, her eyes as clear as spring water. She was about to say something when she noticed the man in front of her staring at her, not blinking.
When Shen Mo focused on someone, his dark eyes resembled a hunter in the forest, burning with intensity.
At that moment, his gaze was like that of a patient hunter watching prey about to fall into a trap, glowing with eagerness.
He wasn’t deaf; on the contrary, his hearing was excellent.
Jiang Ning’s words just now fell into his ears without missing a single one.
He was just too happy and thought he might be dreaming.
Jiang Ning lifted her chin and leaned closer to his ear to answer his earlier question, “I said, not getting a divorce might be good.”
Shen Mo suppressed his inner excitement, not daring to loosen his grip on the handlebar.
But his gaze seemed like it could pierce a hole through her.
This man’s expression of emotions was so intense that it made Jiang Ning, who was usually composed, blush. She couldn’t help but raise her hand to block his face, saying, “If you want to talk, just say it. Don’t stare at me like that.”
Shen Mo, however, said, “I’m afraid I’m dreaming.”
It wasn’t even dark yet, and Jiang Ning’s eyes sparkled with a hint of amusement, “In broad daylight, how can you be dreaming?”
Suddenly, she extended both hands, placed them on the man’s shoulders, and wrapped her arms around him, saying, “Shen Mo, I think I like you a little.”
‘Boom—’
Shen Mo felt like a bomb had exploded in his mind, sending countless sparks flying in all directions.
His wife said she liked him and didn’t want a divorce, which meant she intended to spend her whole life with him.
He was instantly overjoyed and suddenly puckered his lips, moving his head closer.
Jiang Ning: “…”
Her fair and slender hand reached out, her fingers pressing against his approaching lips. This pouty look for a kiss was a far cry from the stern expression he had when they first met on the train.
When they first met, she hadn’t noticed this side of him.
As soon as she agreed, it was like a seal had been lifted.
Jiang Ning blocked his mouth, saying, “I said it’s just a little.”
Shen Mo immediately lowered his head like a wronged big bear, understanding that this “little” liking meant it wasn’t enough for a kiss yet.
As for other things, he would wait until his wife was ready.
Quickly, he rallied again, saying, “Then wife, you must tell me when you like me a little more.”
A mischievous glint flashed in Jiang Ning’s eyes. Her hand, which was resting on Shen Mo’s shoulder, hadn’t yet been pulled back when she suddenly exerted force.
Shen Mo was pulled down instinctively, and a gentle kiss landed on his lips.
Shock flashed in Shen Mo’s eyes, and when he lowered his gaze, Jiang Ning let him go.
“You can’t, but I can,” Jiang Ning said, her face slightly flushed. This was the first time she had done something like this, and she hadn’t quite mastered the strength, resulting in a slight bump against their teeth.
At that moment, Jiang Ning’s face was slightly red, her lips full and moist, and the slight bump made her look even more alluring.
The sensation on his lips sent a tingling sensation through his body, making him want to kiss her again. But since his wife didn’t allow it, he wouldn’t force it.
This kiss would be enough for him to savor for a long time.
Seeing Shen Mo touching his lips and smiling foolishly, Jiang Ning couldn’t resist giving him another quick kiss on the cheek.
The man’s burning gaze felt like it could pierce through her, urging her, “Alright, let’s go home quickly.”
Shen Mo touched his face, his earlobes red, and asked, “What conditions do I need to meet for future kisses?”
Unable to bear his intense gaze any longer, Jiang Ning pushed his head away, saying, “It depends on your performance.”
Shen Mo rode his bicycle home, feeling light-headed and elated.
On the way back, the supply and marketing cooperative was still open, so Jiang Ning asked Shen Mo to take her there. She bought a lot of meat, and in this era of cheap prices, even though she didn’t earn much, she could still afford plenty of meat.
She was a typical foodie and wouldn’t let her mouth go hungry.
The front of the 28-inch bicycle didn’t have a basket to hold things, so Jiang Ning had to hold onto Shen Mo with one hand and carry the meat with the other.
When they returned to the family compound, it was just time to get off work. The two of them rode their bicycle through the courtyard and back to their own yard.
Grandma Wang didn’t have a job and liked to wander around all day. She not only strolled around the family compound but also liked to visit a nearby village for no particular reason.
As she returned from her stroll in the neighboring village, she saw Jiang Ning carrying a large piece of meat, and the bicycle whizzed past her.
Seeing such a large piece of meat made her envious and jealous.
The person strolling with her couldn’t help but exclaim, “Young Shen is almost famous in our family compound. It’s common to see him bringing meat home every few days. It’s clear that he truly treats his wife well.”
Grandma Wang spat, “They’ve been married for three years and haven’t had a child yet. What’s the use?”
She had heard from her son that Shen Mo had been married for three years.
The person who heard Grandma Wang’s remark was also surprised, “They haven’t had a child in three years? Could it be that the girl can’t have children?”
Grandma Wang tutted twice, “Even if she can’t have children, she looks like a fox and can keep a man wrapped around her finger. Look at her; she doesn’t even have a job, yet she eats meat every day.”
That comment was quite sour.
Someone couldn’t help but respond, “Her man pampers her. Why should we gossip? Which woman wouldn’t want to be pampered?”
