Substitute Lover [Entertainment Industry]
Substitute Lover [Entertainment Industry] Chapter 29

Ji Fan?

How did she end up here?

Jiang Cha was slightly taken aback.

Ji Fan sat quietly in her seat. Her beautiful features, delicate makeup, and long, thick eyelashes drooped, casting a faint shadow on her fair, prominent nose bridge. Her expression was uniquely helpless and flustered, as if she wanted to escape but had been caught red-handed.

Red wine had spilled onto her snow-white shirt, leaving a large, unsightly stain.

When Jiang Cha offered her a napkin, she neither took it nor said thank you. She sat there like a broken doll, her face pale and expressionless.

They were sitting so close together, their seats back-to-back, that they must have heard their conversation. Jiang Cha didn’t know how much of their conversation Ji Fan had overheard, but her expressionless face was rather frightening.

“What a coincidence,” the woman beside Ji Fan said, smiling at her. “Ms. Jiang, are you having dinner here too?”

Jiang Cha looked at her, startled, and then realized it was Xu Qingzhu. She had seen her just now but hadn’t recognized her.

Xu Qingzhu’s attitude was natural and generous, as if she and Ji Fan had really just gone out to eat together and happened to run into her.

The waiter in a white shirt and black vest, whom Jiang Cha had called earlier, came over. Seeing the pile of broken glass on the ground, he was slightly speechless.

“I’m so sorry, I broke the glass,” Xu Qingzhu apologized.

“It’s okay, please wait, I’ll call someone to clean it up,” the waiter replied, turning to leave.

“Who is she?” Ji Fan lifted her thin eyelids and glanced at her faintly, referring to Bai Yihan.

A moment of panic flashed in Jiang Cha’s eyes, but she quickly regained her composure. She had no reason to panic.

Bai Yihan was simply a person from her past. Although they were similar, Jiang Cha, unlike Ji Fan, could clearly distinguish between them. Bai Yihan was Bai Yihan, and Ji Fan was Ji Fan. They were two completely different people.

It was just that the coat Bai Yihan had lent her made her feel a bit uncomfortable.

Ji Fan looked up and stared at Jiang Cha quietly, her gaze seemed to be shrouded in a layer of fog, making it difficult to see clearly. It was as if she was sad or suppressing something.

She tucked a strand of her soft hair behind her ear, bent down slightly, stuffed the napkin into Ji Fan’s hand, and said softly, “Wipe yourself up.”

Then she turned around and returned to her seat, her expression calm and indifferent.

Ji Fan moved then. She stood up abruptly, lowered her head, threw the pure white, damp napkin forcefully onto the dining table, grabbed her bag, pursed her lips, and left without a word.

Xu Qingzhu was stunned.

Even as an outsider watching this farce, she felt quite embarrassed.

Jiang Cha had just had dinner with an old lover, it was true, but Jiang Cha hadn’t done anything out of line. Why was Ji Fan so angry?

She hadn’t even finished her dinner.

Since the one who invited her had left, she didn’t feel comfortable staying here any longer.

She sighed, looked at the leftovers on the table, and picked up her bag and followed.

Bai Yihan just rested her head on her hand and quietly watched them.

As if sensing something, she said softly, “Do you know the people at the next table?”

“I know one of them,” Jiang Cha replied, her red lips pursed as she lowered her eyes, and she introduced unnaturally, “One of them is my partner.”

“Which one?” Bai Yihan blinked lightly, “Is it the one who accidentally broke the glass?”

“Yes.”

“She seems to have a bad temper,” Bai Yihan smiled with her eyes curved, “She must be difficult to get along with.”

Jiang Cha didn’t say anything. She simply lowered her head, slowly took off the coat, folded it, and handed it to Bai Yihan, smiling politely, “I’m not cold anymore, thank you.”

Bai Yihan looked at her quietly for a moment.

Finally, she raised her eyebrows, took the coat, said nothing, just pursed her lips, and smiled slightly with a twinkle in her eyes.

Xu Qingzhu got into Ji Fan’s car and sat in the back seat with her.

“What are you angry about?” Xu Qingzhu asked, “What you should be doing now is reflecting on yourself, not getting angry.”

“First, if you don’t have feelings for her, and she’s just having dinner with someone else, why are you so angry? Is it necessary?”

“Second, you should know that many people are chasing after Jiang Cha, she doesn’t need you.”

“Third, have you given her enough security? You said before that she wanted a divorce because she felt you didn’t love her.”

“A normal person’s way of solving this problem is to let her know how you feel about her and to warm her up, instead of losing your temper like you are.”

“No,” Ji Fan frowned in pain.

“I’m no longer sure if Jiang Cha really likes me.”

“What do you mean?”

“Maybe she has stronger feelings for her old lover.”

Ji Fan turned her dark eyes to the window, her thick, long eyelashes drooping.

Tsk.

The smell of vinegar is everywhere.

“Then go ask her.” Xu Qingzhu was full of bad ideas. “Go ask her, ask her who she prefers.”

Ji Fan gave her a contemptuous look.

“Childish, I’m not a child anymore, who would ask such a cheesy question?”

“Think about it,” Xu Qingzhu raised one finger and rambled on, “The first time that person lent her clothes, Jiang Cha refused.”

“……”

“What does that mean?” Xu Qingzhu smiled ambiguously.

Ji Fan’s fingers curled up.

Go find Jiang Cha?

After dropping Xu Qingzhu off at home, Ji Fan had her driver send her to Jiang Cha’s neighborhood.

Ji Fan found the door number according to the plainclothes bodyguard’s instructions and quietly waited in front of her door.

Could it be that Jiang Cha noticed her because she was similar to the girl she used to like?

Something that was once certain had become uncertain, and the chips she held in her hand suddenly felt lighter.

Ji Fan had never been so anxious.

As night fell, the red arrow in the elevator went up and down, and Ji Fan’s eyes were sore from watching. Finally, she heard a ding, and the door opened.

A middle-aged man came out.

Ji Fan lowered her eyes in disappointment.

Then, another figure followed the man out.

The footsteps paused briefly.

Ji Fan raised her eyes, and her eyes lit up for a moment.

Jiang Cha was wearing a beige and green plaid skirt. It was early spring, and it was a bit cold. She wore flesh-colored tights on her lower legs, but they were still straight and beautiful, with very nice lines. She carried a dark green leather bag, and the wind blew her long hair. She looked at Ji Fan with a little confusion.

“Why are you here?”

Jiang Cha looked at her in surprise and asked softly, “Have you been following me.”

“……..”

Ji Fan sat in front of her door. To the left was a small window in the corridor, and a bit of moonlight shone in from the night, illuminating half of her straight nose and her jawline was as transparent as jade. It’s just that the posture she was curled up in was not very elegant, her snow-white shirt was still stained with red wine, and her curly hair was also messy, making her whole person look a bit decadent and haggard.

Ji Fan didn’t know how to explain, she just softened her voice and asked softly, “When will you be willing to go home with me.”

“No.”

Jiang Cha lowered her eyes and said softly, “We were never a good match. Let’s break up.”

She was so direct that Ji Fan instantly felt like she had been frozen, her whole body stiff.

“You said,” Ji Fan stared at her intently, her voice a little choked, “You said you liked me a lot. Is this what you call liking me?”

“Who told you,” Jiang Cha raised her eyes, her clear eyes staring at her quietly, “Who told you, people don’t change their minds?”

This kind of calmness was like a belated sentence, and Ji Fan felt like she had been doused with a bucket of cold water on a cold winter day, and her whole body trembled.

But anger was still burning.

Jiang Cha glanced at her lightly and asked, “Is there anything else?”

Ji Fan didn’t answer.

Jiang Cha turned around. In the long corridor, only a window at the end let in the outside light.

Suddenly, her arm was pulled, and Ji Fan abruptly pulled her in front of her, wrapping her arms around Jiang Cha, she rested her chin on her shoulder.

Jiang Cha always carried a delicate fragrance, like jasmine or some other kind of flower. It must have been from a small, unique blossom, clean and subtly sweet.

The sudden shift from cold to warm caused her to lose control instantly. Pinching Jiang Cha’s nape, she leaned over and kissed her deeply, passionately, and recklessly.

How long had it been since she kissed her?

The soft, warm sensation, the smooth, slippery lips, like pudding. Ji Fan sucked and licked, her tongue probing deep inside. She was lost in the moment, her mind momentarily clouded, but then a sharp pain shot through her.

Her long eyelashes trembled.

A metallic taste filled the air.

Jiang Cha had bitten her hard, tearing her lower lip.

Her hands began to push frantically, trying to shove her away.

Yet, Ji Fan’s long, cold, white fingers deftly lifted the hem of her loose white T-shirt, continually caressing and rubbing her waist with a fierce intensity, a burning desire.

Jiang Cha trembled sensitively.

She endured, her eyes closed, her long lashes fluttering. Then, she suddenly pushed her away.

The push was forceful, and Ji Fan stumbled back a few steps before regaining her balance. She wiped her lip with her index finger, and her fair fingertip was stained crimson.

Blood seeped from her lip, a shocking scarlet.

“I told you before, don’t touch me,” Jiang Cha said calmly, watching her. “You’ve breached the agreement. Let’s get a divorce.”

“…”

Ji Fan’s face turned pale.

“How about tomorrow?” Jiang Cha said softly. “Let’s go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning?”

“You used to like me so much,” Ji Fan suddenly became flustered, like a child who had done something wrong but didn’t know how to correct it. With red eyes, she said word by word in a trance, “You cooked soup for me, you waited for me to come home every day, you said you liked me very much…”

Jiang Cha looked at her, and coldly closed the door.

T/N: Sigh… You deserve it.
