Chapter 6: Reporting Evidence, The Biological Parents Arrive

Qin Yi’an gave her a grateful smile and began her performance.

“Comrade, look here. This letter from many years ago contains evidence of Liu Guifang and Qin Daqi conspiring to steal from me. Their accomplice sent them an extortion letter; and here is another recent letter, where the accomplice warned them that my biological parents were coming to investigate, and to quickly retrieve the evidence proving their theft—proof that they are human traffickers.”

The lead officer, Xu Gong’an, carefully examined the contents of the letters, his expression growing more serious.

“This is the first piece of evidence. The second one is that they intended to have their daughter replace me, and Qin Niannian is not only an accomplice, but also the mastermind.”

Qin Yi’an stood next to Qin Niannian, pulling up her right sleeve to reveal the fake birthmark on her arm. At the same time, she exposed her own water-drop-shaped birthmark on her arm and placed them side by side.

“Comrade, this birthmark is evidence. In order to impersonate me, they had someone create a matching birthmark on Qin Niannian’s arm.”

“Ah, comrade police, I can testify to this. Qin Niannian never had anything on her arm before. I saw it clearly when we went to the workers’ bathhouse at the steel plant. Qin Yi An took out two written documents from the box:

Some people whispered.

The crowd, who had been following the developments, immediately recognized the identities of the three people and looked at them with sympathy. They shook their heads and sighed.

But in their hearts, they were thinking, “Wow, it’s worth sticking around to hear the drama, now that the main characters have arrived—this is about to get interesting.”

Liu Gui Fang, lying on the ground, looked over and saw the tall, still handsome man, a flash of nostalgia in her eyes. Even though he was forty, he still had that same charm.

But as her gaze shifted to the woman beside him, her eyes turned to jealousy and hatred.

That little slut and her mother really do look alike, and she hated not being able to tear them apart herself.

The other three members of the Qin family felt a wave of hopelessness in their hearts, as if a tightly woven net of despair was closing in on them, suffocating them and shattering their dreams.

They couldn’t understand why, this morning, all they had done was scold and hit Qin Yi’an, that little wretch, as usual, and yet she suddenly started resisting. How had things gotten so out of control, spiraling into such an absurd situation? How had it developed into this suffocating crisis? How did she know all of this?

The Qin family members struggled on the ground, being pressed down more firmly by the police officers: “Stay still.”

The three people at the door heard the noise, saw the situation in the yard, and felt the strange looks around them. They quickly realized that something serious had happened and immediately stopped showing any hopeful expressions on their faces.

Xu, the police officer, handed over the evidence to the arriving officers. With eyes sharp as an eagle, he stared at the people at the door and said, “This is the Qin family. I’m a police officer from the nearby station, handling a case. May I ask who you three are and what you’re looking for with Qin Niannian?”
