Chapter 8: No Bad Person Can Escape

The couple walked over to Qin Yi’an again, and Xia Xiulan wiped her tears, carefully holding her hand and looking at her with a guilty expression. “Daughter, it’s all my fault. I didn’t protect you, I didn’t find you sooner. These years, you’ve suffered because of me.”

As she spoke, more tears fell.

“Daughter, I’m your father. Our family is finally reunited.” Qin Jiaguo, with red eyes, choked out.

Zhou Jinglin lowered his head in self-reproach. “An’an, I’m sorry for the mistake I made in recognizing you.”

Qin Yi’an couldn’t say that it was okay on behalf of the original owner, as she had experienced all of this herself and had suffered throughout her life.

She sighed and said, “Let’s go, to the police station. The officers are waiting for us.”

“Okay.” Xia Xiulan gripped Qin Yi’an’s hand tightly, afraid that she might be dreaming and if she let go, she might lose her daughter again.

Qin Jiaguo and Zhou Jinglin closely followed behind the mother and daughter.

“Everyone else, disperse! Stop crowding here, go back to your business.”

Officer Xu cleared the crowd. The onlookers, still full of excitement, left in high spirits, eager to gossip about the big news of the day. It would keep them entertained for months.

“Let’s go, let’s go home now.”

In their minds, everyone was thinking, “Hurry up, get out of here so we can talk to others about this scandal. This whole drama with the Qin family is one thing after another. Everyone’s been caught. It’s a rare sight, we’ve never had such a juicy story.”

Qin Yi’an watched them walk away, all of them with excited, gossiping expressions, looking like how she used to be when she’d gobble up gossip online and couldn’t wait to share it with her friends.

Well, this news would probably spread throughout the entire county in less than a day, and it would definitely top the gossip charts for weeks.

As they headed to the police station, more curious onlookers followed, waiting for the results outside.

Although the Qin family case was a bit complicated, it was clear-cut. With Qin Yi’an providing strong evidence as the victim, the evidence chain was complete, and the police quickly investigated and gathered even more incriminating evidence.

Qin Nianian’s theft of steel had direct connections to Qin Dagui and Liu Guifang, and also involved Qin Jinbao, who was the link to the black market buyers. Qin Nianian was responsible for the theft, the couple handled the sale, and Qin Jinbao was the one who contacted the buyers.

In the end, all of them benefited from the crime. Qin Nianian used her share of the money to buy clothes, Qin Jinbao used his to gamble, and Qin Dagui and Liu Guifang used theirs to shut the mouths of their accomplices in Jing City.

In light of this, the factories where Qin Dagui and Liu Guifang worked, the mechanical and textile plants, began self-investigations and discovered that the couple had stolen many defective products from the factory and sold them.

This added further weight to their crimes.

Additionally, the case involving the trafficking of Qin Yi’an was also complicated but resolvable. With the cooperation of Qin Jiaguo and his wife and their connections in Jing City, one phone call led to the arrest of their accomplices, who quickly confessed, securing solid evidence.

With each crime added to the pile, the entire Qin family was bound to face justice, and none of them would have a peaceful life.

As for the three members of the Liu family and the matchmaker:

The police told her, “After investigation, it’s confirmed that the Liu family came to arrange a marriage. They had a private agreement with Qin Dagui and his wife to marry you to Liu Bing. Today, they came to take you. The slightly plump person is the matchmaker.”

“The 800 yuan agreement, was that for your life? Were they planning to kill me, treat me like livestock, dispose of me when things didn’t go their way? They made decisions about my life without my consent, and I didn’t know anything until I overheard their conversation last night and fought back. If I hadn’t been prepared today, they would’ve dragged me away, and I wouldn’t have known if I died there. They’d have covered it up as an ‘accidental death’ and cremated my body quickly to erase any evidence. No one would have found out, and I would have died unjustly.”

Qin Yi’an, following her plan, shouted angrily, making sure her voice was loud enough for the bystanders outside the station to hear.

She knew she couldn’t press charges against the Liu family members for much, but the other issues were still uncertain. Liu Bing had a physical defect, and over time, it affected his temperament, making him violent towards his wife. His family was ruthless, and the previous wife, like the original owner, died under suspicious circumstances. It was the same matchmaker who had arranged that marriage.

She had to avenge the original owner’s death and ensure that the Liu family wouldn’t get away with their crimes.

No bad person could escape.

“They said the 800 yuan was because Liu Bing is a widower with a crippled leg, and they feared the woman would suffer, so they gave the money. They also worried Qin Dagui and his wife would bother them for more money, which is why they wrote it like that. They insist they didn’t know you were deceived and thought you had agreed to the marriage.”

Xu, the officer, tried to calm her down, offering her a glass of water.

“The older woman was also nasty. She threatened to kill me when we went back. And the old man—he was lecherous, touching me when no one was looking. I almost reported him for molestation but worried there wouldn’t be evidence.”

“If I hadn’t accidentally knocked over the urine bucket and used the snake to delay them, they would’ve beaten me senseless. I might have ended up dead, and they’d have said it was an accident. I don’t believe that matchmaker didn’t know what kind of people they were. She must have arranged the marriage, and they’re all in on it. They’re all wicked.”

Qin Yi’an drank some water, still boiling with rage, her voice rising higher and higher.

“Officer, I suspect Liu Bing’s late wife was tortured to death by this family. When people marry, they don’t talk about life or death, not like this. Please investigate it thoroughly! Don’t let good people die unjustly, and bad people walk free.”

“I really trust you all, you’re the people’s true support. Please, don’t let it be like I said, where they cover up a murder as an accident. I believe in you.”

Her words were overheard by the crowd outside, and some ran to talk to the late wife’s family.

Xu, the officer, took her words seriously, reflecting deeply.

After a moment, Xu looked at Qin Yi’an seriously.

“Qin, I hear you. Don’t worry, we won’t let any bad people escape. We’ll investigate thoroughly. But please, calm down and take care of yourself. Don’t hurt your health over this.”
