After Pretending to Be a Green Tea, I Became a Heartthrob Chapter 38

Chapter 38: Release 3 – Wen Shijin’s Calculations

They had already consumed three antidotes each. Each wooden cabin contained four antidotes, so if they could find another untouched cabin, they’d be able to detoxify completely and avoid dying. At the same time, they’d gain the ability to rip off name tags.

In a one-on-one solo match, Ning Qingyan would definitely lose to Gu Si. If they faced off later, she’d surely get eliminated by him.

However, as an undercover player, she had the ability to rip off name tags when only two people were present.

If she took advantage of Gu Si’s momentary distraction and tore off his name tag now, she wouldn’t have to worry about him turning on her later.

The thought flashed through her mind in an instant. Ning Qingyan stared at the name tag on Gu Si’s back, her heartbeat accelerating. Nervously, she reached out decisively toward his back, aiming for the tag. Unexpectedly, Gu Si turned around abruptly, and her hand, which was meant for the name tag, ended up pressing against his firm chest instead.

Ahead, Lin Qingqing, who had been running away from a group of pursuing knights, tried to change direction. Gu Si, who turned back and felt the soft, delicate hand on his chest, blushed and snapped angrily, “Ning Qingyan! What the hell are you doing at a time like this?”

The firmness and elasticity of his chest muscles made Ning Qingyan’s guilty heart race even more. Lowering her head in embarrassment, her voice came out barely audible. “I-I didn’t mean to.”

The once-excited young woman now looked down, her long eyelashes trembling like butterfly wings, radiating a subtle sense of grievance.

Gu Si immediately regretted his outburst, feeling he’d been too harsh. His usually bold tone softened awkwardly. “You can do that when we get inside the cabin, but not now.”

Ning Qingyan: …OoO

  • “Ahhh! I’m losing my mind! KSWL!”
  • “One GuQing CP fan: Our Brother Si has finally succumbed! CP fans are thrilled! Qingyan, grab him and don’t let go!”
  • “Why do I feel like Ning Qingyan actually wanted to rip off Gu Si’s name tag?”
  • “Yeah, she’s been eyeing it for a while. My guess? Ning Qingyan’s the undercover player!”
  • “Just hopped over from another stream—Lin Qingqing is the undercover player! She ripped off Qiao Li’s tag!”

The audience began to analyze the situation while Ning Qingyan momentarily gave up on tearing off Gu Si’s name tag after the earlier interruption.

Meanwhile, Lin Qingqing, chased by knights, spotted the duo and ran toward them. This forced all three to flee in another direction.

Exhausted from being chased, Lin Qingqing eventually collapsed, unable to continue. Hearing her fall, Ning Qingyan hesitated, glanced at the distant knights, and decided to run back to help her up.

Lin Qingqing, touched by Ning Qingyan’s selfless gesture, got up with her support. “Thank you… Are you an NPC sent by the production team? You’re so beautiful.”

Ning Qingyan: …

The urgency of the situation left no time for explanations. Grabbing Lin Qingqing by the wrist, Ning Qingyan dragged her along to escape.

After an indeterminate amount of running, they finally found a cabin to hide in. Catching her breath, Ning Qingyan began searching for antidotes.

Unbeknownst to her, Lin Qingqing, who had been watching, suddenly lunged forward, attempting to rip off Ning Qingyan’s name tag. Sensing the movement, Ning Qingyan turned just in time and pinned Lin Qingqing’s shoulder.

However, Lin Qingqing, experienced from her martial arts scenes, ducked under Ning Qingyan’s arm and went for her name tag, unwittingly exposing her own.

Without hesitation, Ning Qingyan tore Lin Qingqing’s name tag. Moments later, the production director’s voice rang through their earpieces.

“Lin Qingqing OUT. Lin Qingqing OUT. Lin Qingqing OUT.”

Defeated, Lin Qingqing slumped to the ground, out of breath. “Your reaction was too fast.”

Embarrassed, Ning Qingyan scratched her messy chestnut-colored hair. “I had my suspicions when you mistook me for an NPC. My name tag is huge, and Gu Si was clearly ahead. Plus, I deliberately led you away from him for a reason.”

“But how were you certain you’d find and consume an antidote in time to eliminate me?” Lin Qingqing asked, frowning.

Ning Qingyan chuckled. “Because I’m an undercover player. I don’t need the antidote to rip tags.”

Lin Qingqing froze. “But I’m an undercover player too?”

Ning Qingyan: ?

Before they could process this revelation, staff arrived to escort Lin Qingqing away. This left Ning Qingyan pondering the possibility of multiple undercover players.

The rest of the chapter captures the aftermath of the game, with revelations about the rules, misunderstandings, and Ning Qingyan unintentionally securing victory. The chapter ends with Gu Si and Wen Shijin eliminated in a surprising twist, while Ning Qingyan enjoys her unexpected first-place win.
