Chapter 4: You’ll Live Here From Now On
Their eyes met, and silence filled the car, the air becoming increasingly heavy and oppressive.
After a long time, Bo Si looked away from her, focusing on the road ahead, his voice flat, “We’re different, I’m a man.”
What was different about men and women in this regard?
It meant that even if a man was in an arranged marriage, it wouldn’t stop him from having women outside. He didn’t need to be faithful. But if she was in an arranged marriage, it would be disloyal to him, and he wouldn’t allow it.
In short, he had made his position clear. He wouldn’t refuse the arranged marriage.
Sang Tian’s heart sank further and further.
“Come back to Xi Garden with me tonight.”
Xi Garden was Bo Si’s residence. He had been living there ever since he took over the company. Sang Tian used to go there often, but after he got engaged, she rarely went. She usually stayed on the top floor of the “Good Man” bar, that was her place.
She shook her head, “I…” wouldn’t go.
Bo Si’s phone suddenly rang, interrupting Sang Tian’s words. She thought she would wait until he finished the call before speaking, but she heard Bo Si say, “Okay, wait for me, I’ll come pick you up.”
The voice on the other end was clearly a woman’s. Sang Tian recognized it. If she wasn’t mistaken, it was Bo Si’s fiancée, Jiang Wantang.
Jiang Wantang was a famous talented woman. At a young age, she was already a well-known writer. A passage from her book was even included in a textbook. Her name was known to everyone among the younger generation.
Old Madam Bo had her eyes on the Jiang family’s background, and she also liked Jiang Wantang’s scholarly air. She felt that a well-educated lady like Jiang Wantang was the only one worthy of Bo Si.
Sang Tian was angry and deliberately found an excuse to skip their engagement banquet, so she hadn’t met Jiang Wantang. But she could roughly imagine what Jiang Wantang looked like. She must be gentle, quiet, and have an outstanding temperament.
It seemed she wouldn’t have to refuse tonight.
Sure enough, after Bo Si hung up the phone, he apologized to her, saying he had something to deal with and couldn’t accompany her. He dropped her off downstairs at the “Good Man” bar and left.
It seemed he was in a hurry.
Sang Tian looked at the time, it was already ten o’clock at night. What could be so urgent?
She watched Bo Si leave, until the car disappeared into the night, before turning around, feeling exhausted.
The bar manager came out to greet her, his face full of worry, “Boss, you’re finally back!”
“What happened?” She handed her bag to a waiter nearby, straightened her hair that was stuck to the back of her neck due to sweat, and walked upstairs. She had been out for a while and had worked up a sweat. She wanted to take a shower first.
“Boss, you have to call Fifth Master and plead with him. All the male escorts in the bar were chased away by Fifth Master. Those ladies are still waiting!”
“They were all chased away?” Sang Tian didn’t expect Bo Si to be so petty. The male escorts here were all carefully selected, each one handsome and extraordinary, with great figures and faces. If they were all chased away, her turnover would drop by at least half. That wouldn’t do!
She quickly called Bo Si, but he didn’t answer. Thinking that he might be busy and didn’t hear it, she went to the bathroom to take a shower first and call him later.
It was half an hour later when she finished showering. She picked up her phone and saw that Bo Si hadn’t returned her call. Usually, even if he was in a meeting, he would answer her call immediately. If he accidentally missed it, he would call back soon. This was the first time this had happened.
She called Bo Si several more times, but still no answer.
She called his special assistant, Ouyang Heng, but he said he had already left work.
A sense of unease crept into her heart. Sang Tian changed her clothes and prepared to go to Xi Garden to see if he was home. He was driving alone, what if something happened…
The bar manager was still waiting at the door, “Boss, the guests in the Xue and Yue private rooms are making a fuss. They said they came here because they heard about it, but they didn’t even see a single ghost, let alone a handsome guy.”
Sang Tian was anxious to find Bo Si and didn’t have the time for this. She said impatiently, “Send each private room a bottle of our most expensive red wine as an apology, and tell them to come back tomorrow.”
The manager stopped in his tracks, surprised, “That’ll be hundreds of thousands!”
Sang Tian patted his shoulder, “So, you have to find a way to make them cough it up tomorrow!”
The bar manager praised her. He knew their boss wouldn’t do business at a loss. The guests who could enter the Xue and Yue private rooms wouldn’t be short of money.
Sang Tian stepped on the gas of her red Audi and sped all the way to Xi Garden.
The villa was pitch black, only the dim ground lights were on. Sang Tian got out of the car, the biting cold wind blew open her beige coat. She quickly wrapped it around herself and walked forward.
Suddenly, the lights on the first floor flickered on.
Sang Tian stopped in her tracks and looked through the gap in the villa’s stainless steel gate. A black Maybach was parked in the yard.
Her heart relaxed. He was back, everything was fine.
Since she was here, she didn’t bother going back to the bar. She might as well stay here for the night.
Her fingers were about to touch the fingerprint lock on the gate, when the lights on the second floor turned on. It was a bit dazzling in the darkness, and she raised her hand to shield her eyes.
“You’ll live here from now on.”
Bo Si’s voice.
It was particularly prominent in the quiet night.
Sang Tian suddenly looked up, a woman with long flowing hair appeared by the floor-to-ceiling window.
Through the gauze curtain, she couldn’t see her face clearly, but she could see her general outline.
Long legs, a slender waist, a graceful figure.
Before Sang Tian could recover from her shock, a tall figure walked from behind the woman, wrapped his arms around her waist, and rested his head on her shoulder.
It was all as cozy as a painting.
The blackout curtains were drawn, blocking Sang Tian’s view.
There was no need to think, that woman must be Jiang Wantang.
She had thought that he and Jiang Wantang were just an arranged marriage, without any feelings. Even if they didn’t break off the engagement, she was the only one in his heart.
But—
Reality slapped her hard.
It turned out that his love could be shared with many people.
No.
Maybe he didn’t love her anymore.
From his increasingly distant attitude.
Sang Tian suddenly turned around, her foot caught on the curb, and she fell to the ground.
Her knee hurt, but it wasn’t as painful as the uncertainty in her heart.
She tried to get up, supporting herself with her hands, but she had no strength.
The headlights shone, a black car stopped in front of her, and Ouyang Heng ran over, extending his hand.
“Miss Sang, are you alright?”
Didn’t he leave work?
Sang Tian stood up with his help, but her eyes were drawn to something in his hand.
It was a gift box the size of a computer screen, pink, with a beautiful ribbon tied around it.
“What is it?”
Ouyang Heng was nervous and hid the box behind his back, “Nothing.”
“Nothing, why are you hiding it?”
Sang Tian didn’t give him a chance to explain, she snatched it away.
She opened it and saw a champagne-colored silk halter-neck nightgown inside, very sexy. Next to it was a small box, with a style she hadn’t used with him before.
Seeing Sang Tian’s face change, Ouyang Heng quickly explained, “Miss Sang, it’s not what you think…”
“What’s not what I think?!”
Sang Tian’s eyes were bloodshot, but Ouyang Heng just opened his mouth and didn’t say anything in the end.
Sang Tian pushed him away, turned her head and looked at the room on the second floor again. She seemed to hear the woman’s cheerful laughter.
She closed her eyes and limped towards her car.
“Miss Sang, why don’t you wait a moment? I’ll take the things upstairs and then send you back?”
“Get lost! I don’t need you to send me!”
It started snowing, falling softly, quickly blurring the car windows.
She turned on the wipers, but the view was still blurry.
The wind howled outside, the air conditioning was on in the car, but it was still bone-chillingly cold.
She still remembered the night of her 20th birthday, it was also a snowy night. He was drunk and barged into her room, holding her waist and telling her he would take responsibility.
She believed him.
She believed him wholeheartedly.
Three years had passed, and he had a new love…
“Bang—”
The front of the red Audi was dented, and wisps of smoke rose.
When she opened her eyes again, she was met with a white expanse.
Her head hurt, Sang Tian frowned, reached out to touch it, but a warm hand grabbed hers.
“Don’t touch it.”
She turned her head to look, a rugged and handsome face gradually came into focus.
“Yu Feng?”
