“Even if we agree, it’s too far away,” Su Jui remarked. The vegetables would have gone bad long before they reached their destination.
“Once the vegetables are harvested here, they can stay fresh for about ten days. It takes about half a month to slowly return, but if we rush, it can be done in six days. Although it’s a bit troublesome, it’s good for the body,” Su Yu shrugged and continued, “Later, Xiao He will be making fruit wine. If you don’t want the hassle of dealing with vegetables, we can send some fruit wine to the Empress Dowager after it’s made. Drinking a little every day can also help nourish the body. It depends on how we handle it.”
Su Jui remained silent, but he remembered what the Emperor had recently joked about – that he seemed to be feeling better, not getting tired so easily.
Perhaps Su Yu was right; the fruits and vegetables from Xiao He’s farm did seem to have this ability, gradually improving people’s health.
“Alright, we’ll prepare some for the Emperor as well. If it really works, our little sister will make a fortune,” Su Yu said, the prospect of making a good profit evident in his eyes.
“It looks like I’ll have to cling to your coattails in the future. That’s the only way I’ll get to enjoy the benefits,” Su Jui joked about himself.
Rolling his eyes at Su Jui, Su Yu retorted, “Since I started making money, when have I ever let you go without a share? Every year, I give you a substantial cut, don’t I?”
Su Jui couldn’t help but laugh. Indeed, Su Yu had made him a considerable amount of money over the years.
Hearing their conversation, Xiao Bao, feeling indignant, asked, “Uncle, can’t you make money?”
“No, that’s why Uncle has to rely on your dad. Uncle’s life is pretty tough, isn’t it?” Su Jui asked, feigning misery.
After pondering for a moment, Xiao Bao finally spoke up, “Uncle, you’re not very smart. Daddy is amazing after all. It seems like being an official makes people stupid.”
Pointing at himself, Su Jui turned to look at Su Yu, who couldn’t stop laughing beside him. “Did you teach Xiao Bao to say that?” he asked.
“I didn’t say anything. Don’t randomly accuse people,” Su Yu said, refusing to take the blame.
“Big Brother, do you think Uncle is really dumb? He can’t even make money. If it weren’t for Daddy making money, would he starve?” Xiao Bao asked, looking genuinely concerned.
“Yes,” Zhang Zhilin answered seriously after giving it some thought.
These two little troublemakers, would the be in a bad mood if they don’t tease me?
“You two little rascals are really…”
“I’ll take you to see the melons,” Su Yu said, leading Su Ju to the melon field. To their surprise, they spotted a large wild boar stealing watermelons from the field.
“Daddy, that wild boar is so ugly.” It was even uglier than the wild boars they had in their own place, and they were already ugly.
“Let’s catch it and have your mother cook a delicious meal,” Su Yu said, taking action directly. Su Jui lowered his head and looked at the two kids. “Enough, you two. Isn’t it uncomfortable to keep watching these things?”
Xiao Bao continued to curiously watch. After seeing Su Yu easily kill the wild boar, he jumped up in excitement. “Wow, Daddy is amazing!”
Daddy is so powerful; he could kill such a big wild boar with ease.
Su Yu grabbed the wild boar by its hind legs and effortlessly lifted it up. Xiao Bao’s mouth hung open in amazement; his daddy was incredibly strong.
“Uncle, I think my daddy is even more amazing than you; he’s stronger than you,” Xiao Bao said earnestly.
“Alright, your dad is amazing,” Su Jui agreed.
With Su Yu carrying the wild boar and Su Jui holding one of the kids, they left together.
When the people from the Wang family saw Su Yu coming back with such a large wild boar, their mouths twitched in disbelief.
This wild boar must weigh at least three to four hundred pounds, right? And yet, Su Yu just casually carried it back?
Wang Jinhe, hearing Xiao Bao’s constant calls for her, thought something serious had happened. To her surprise, she rushed outside only to find a massive wild boar lying on the ground.
Looking at the wild boar, Wang Jinhe felt a headache coming on. The main issue was that the wild boar was exceptionally large, and the weather was hot. They couldn’t just leave it lying around.
“I’ll go tell the village chief. He can find out if anyone wants to buy the meat. If they do, they can come and take it,” Grandpa Wang considered and said.
Wang Jinhe didn’t see any issues with it and nodded in agreement, “Sure, but how should we handle this wild boar?” She had no experience in dealing with something like this.
“I and your mother will take care of the wild boar. You go about your business,” Wang Dagui walked out and said.
“Okay,” Wang Jinhe glanced at the wild boar on the ground and then turned to Su Yu, asking, “Where did you guys go? How did you manage to bring back a wild boar while you were out for a walk? You people are quite impressive.”
“This? We found it in the melon field. It was busy munching on the melons, taking bites here and there, damaging quite a few,” Su Yu replied casually.
When Wang Jinhe heard that it was another case of animals raiding their melon field, her face turned grim, “I noticed some animals stealing melons before, but I didn’t expect it to be a wild boar this time. This wild boar is really asking for trouble. It’s one thing if it happens once or twice, but this is becoming a habit. We need to deal with it properly.”
Wang Dagui and his wife boiled water to scald the boar. In about half an hour, they had finished processing it. Some familiar faces from the village came over, intending to buy some meat to take home.
“Jinhe, how much are you selling the wild boar for?” one of them asked.
“Ten cents per pound,” Wang Jinhe replied. She didn’t intend to make a living out of this. The prices were kept quite low.
The people who came to buy the meat were surprised, “So cheap?”
“We’re all familiar faces, no need to sell it at a high price,” Wang Jinhe replied. This unexpected windfall turned out to be quite beneficial, and this approach worked out well.
“Well, we hit the jackpot today.”
Each family bought seven or eight pounds of meat. After they left, there were only about 100 pounds of meat left at home. Wang Jinhew didn’t plan to sell the remaining meat.
After the people who bought the meat happily carried their purchases home, others in the village became a little envious, “How much did you buy it for per pound?”
“Not expensive, just ten cents per pound.”
Hearing that it was only ten cents per pound, the people nearby were amazed. No wonder everyone bought so much meat. With this much meat, it only cost a hundred cents, which was incredibly cheap, wasn’t it?
“What? Just ten cents? I have to go buy some too.”
“You guys don’t need to go. There isn’t much meat left at Wang Jinhe’s place, and she might not sell it to you even if you go,” one person in the group said.
“We’re all from the same village. It’s unfair if she sells to you and not us.”
“That’s right.”
Several people made plans to go to Wang Jinhe’s house together to buy meat. Wang Jinhe frowned when she saw them, “What are you doing here? My house doesn’t welcome you.”
“We’re here to buy meat.”
“I’m not selling the remaining meat; I want to keep it for my family,” Wang Jinhe said bluntly.
Hearing that Wang Jinhe refused to sell, the people nearby were displeased,”If you don’t sell, doesn’t that mean our trip was in vain? This is definitely not acceptable.”
