Chapter 14: Attracted to Her

Gu Nanyan immediately noticed that Shen Boyan was looking at her. She turned her face slightly, and was unexpectedly met by his dark, deep eyes.

The moment their eyes met, the air seemed to freeze.

“小木mu must want to hear Mommy play the piano, right? Nanyan, why don’t you play a piece for us?” Qin Yuwei’s voice broke the tension.

Gu Nanyan glanced at her and immediately saw the contempt and mockery in her eyes.

It seemed Qin Yuwei had already assumed that she couldn’t play the piano and wanted to see her make a fool of herself.

“Alright.” Gu Nanyan smiled and agreed immediately.

Qin Yuwei was clearly caught off guard by her quick response, and after a moment of hesitation, she quickly stood up to make space for her.

Gu Nanyan, let’s see how well you embarrass yourself in front of Shen Shao.

You were just born into a good family with better connections than mine—besides that, what do you have that’s better than me?

“Mommy…” Little Mu Mu looked at Gu Nanyan with big, bright eyes full of admiration as she sat at the piano.

So, his mommy could play the piano too.

“Little Mu Mu, go sit on the couch for a while.”

Little Mu Mu listened to Gu Nanyan and obediently walked over to the couch, where he was quickly lifted into Shen Boyan’s arms and sat on his lap.

Qin Yuwei had intended to approach Shen Boyan, but now she dared not disturb the father and son.

She glared at Gu Nanyan, standing by like a servant.

Gu Nanyan sat at the white piano, first stretching her fingers to loosen up. It had been a while since she played, and somehow, she felt a bit nervous.

The piano was positioned sideward to the couch, and Gu Nanyan could clearly feel the deep, intense gaze from Shen Boyan.

She thought for a moment, then suddenly reached up and tugged off her hairband.

The soft sunlight filtered into the room, and in the golden glow, her hair cascaded down like seaweed. The graceful and ethereal face seemed to have a soft filter, making her even more beautiful.

Shen Boyan’s dark eyes locked on her, and deep down, he felt a strange stirring.

From his angle, he could clearly see the side of her face, a strand of hair falling along her swan-like, pale neck, resting on her collarbone.

His throat inexplicably tightened.

Qin Yuwei, standing in front of the couch, rolled her eyes when she saw Gu Nanyan remove her hairband.

As expected, a good-for-nothing always has tricks up their sleeves.

Gu Nanyan sat in the sunlight, closing her eyes for a few seconds. As soon as she opened them, her fingers immediately landed on the piano keys.

The pleasant melody soared from the piano, and Gu Nanyan sat there calmly, not needing to look at the sheet music, her fingers gracefully dancing on the black and white keys.

Qin Yuwei’s gaze fixed on her. At first, her expression was full of disdain and mockery, waiting for a laugh.

But gradually, her face froze.

Her eyes widened in disbelief.

Gu Nanyan could play the piano?

How could she play the piano?

They had gone to the same high school and university, and Gu Nanyan had always been tone-deaf. How could she play so well?

Qin Yuwei couldn’t accept this reality. She walked closer to Gu Nanyan, step by step.

The sound was definitely coming from Gu Nanyan’s hands.

Looking at her fingers dancing on the piano keys, Qin Yuwei’s face turned pale, as though she had been struck by a heavy blow, almost unable to stand.

Qin Yuwei quickly turned her head to look at Shen Boyan. Sure enough, his dark eyes were fixed on Gu Nanyan.

He was clearly attracted to her.

It was rare for Shen Boyan to come to the piano room, and she had given this golden opportunity to Gu Nanyan!

As the music ended, Gu Nanyan stopped, her fingers making a perfect arc.

She turned to look at Shen Boyan and Little Mu Mu, a bright smile on her face.

Shen Boyan stared deeply at her, unable to say a word.

Although their families had been close for years, he had never truly looked at her.

He never liked the idea of an arranged marriage and had never considered marrying her. If it weren’t for that accident, this marriage would have been called off long ago.

“Wow, Mommy, you’re awesome!” Little Mu Mu broke free from his father’s embrace and ran to Gu Nanyan, giving her a thumbs-up. “Mommy, here’s a thumbs-up for you.”

“Good job,” Gu Nanyan responded, giving a thumbs-up in return as they shared a moment.

Shen Boyan looked at this loving scene, the corners of his mouth unconsciously lifting.

But he quickly masked his expression, trying to maintain his usual cold demeanor.

“Mommy, can you teach me how to play the piano in the future?” Little Mu Mu looked at his mom, wanting her to be his teacher.

Qin Yuwei’s face was already dark, and at once, a warning bell rang in her head. She fixed her gaze on Gu Nanyan.

“Alright.” Gu Nanyan surprised her by agreeing right away.

Qin Yuwei was so angry she almost coughed up blood. She quickly looked at Shen Boyan, trying to sound gentle, “Shen Shao, teaching children isn’t just about expertise; it requires patience too.”

It was a direct insinuation that Gu Nanyan lacked patience.

Shen Boyan glanced at her but said nothing.

He stood up coldly and walked towards Gu Nanyan. “This weekend, go to the old house. If you need any custom clothes, let Butler Lin know in advance.”

After speaking, he gently ruffled Little Mu Mu’s head and left the piano room.

Qin Yuwei stood there, staring at his retreating back.

Shen Shao couldn’t really have agreed to let Gu Nanyan teach Little Mu Mu piano, could he?

What would she teach?

Little Mu Mu had already finished most of his lessons.

If the courses she taught kept getting reduced… what would happen if Shen Boyan no longer let her stay in the house?

“Mommy… you can finally go to the old house with Mu Mu.” Little Mu Mu was genuinely happy. He had never been to the old house with his mom before.

When Shen Boyan agreed to let Gu Nanyan go to the old house, he was truly delighted.

Little Mu Mu’s words immediately made Qin Yuwei snap back to reality.

That’s right… Shen Boyan had agreed to let Gu Nanyan go to the old house.

Gu Nanyan had offended the Shen family completely in the past. Why would Shen Boyan still want to take her there?

Qin Yuwei didn’t understand.

She looked at Gu Nanyan, who was elegantly tying her hair under the soft light.

Qin Yuwei gritted her teeth again.

Gu Nanyan, what are you so smug about?

You’ve offended the Shen family completely. What good could you possibly gain from going there?

You’re just going to embarrass yourself!

Gu Nanyan finished tying her hair, took Little Mu Mu’s hand, and walked over to Qin Yuwei with grace. She smiled brightly and said, “Little Mu Mu really likes hearing me play the piano. Thank you, Teacher Qin, for giving me this opportunity.”

“Gu Nanyan, how many things are you hiding from me?” Qin Yuwei clenched her fists, glaring at Gu Nanyan.

When did she learn the piano? How could she not know anything about it?

“How many things?” Gu Nanyan tilted her head and thought for a moment. “Stay tuned.”

She elegantly tossed out the line, and with Little Mu Mu in tow, she left the piano room.

Qin Yuwei stood there alone, her clenched fist digging into her palm.
