Chapter 25: Bo Yan, I Have Something to Tell You
Nightfall arrived.
The weather suddenly changed.
After a flash of lightning and thunder, a torrential downpour began at Yu Jing Manor.
In the study, the lights were dim.
Shen Boyan sat at his desk, wearing a black shirt. His cold and indifferent nature was further accentuated by the deep color, giving him an even more aloof and unreachable aura.
Several photos were scattered on the desk, and he stared at them intently, his black pupils resembling a deep, tranquil pool—cold and frightening.
In the photos, He Yunrui was holding a bouquet of flowers at the hospital entrance, handing them to Gu Nanyan. Soon after, Gu Nanyan got into a car with him.
The sound of the rain grew louder outside. Shen Boyan slowly closed his eyes, an overwhelming chill radiating from him, causing the temperature in the room to drop several degrees.
As the rain intensified, his hands, with their prominent knuckles, clenched tighter, his joints turning white as he trembled slightly.
After a long while, he opened his eyes, and beneath his cold, ominous gaze, there was also a trace of painful sorrow.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
Shen Boyan kept his eyes fixed on the photos without responding, but someone pushed the door open and entered.
“Bo Yan.”
Gu Nanyan, dressed in a nightgown with her hair loose, stepped inside. The faint scent of shower gel wafted in as she entered.
Shen Boyan abruptly raised his eyes, and when his gaze met Gu Nanyan’s, she felt as if she had awakened a slumbering beast. His dangerous, icy stare sent a chill down her spine.
Summoning her courage, Gu Nanyan walked over. “Bo Yan, I have something to tell you.”
“Oh?” Shen Boyan concealed all emotions, his gaze cold as he looked at her. “What is it?”
“It’s… about He Yunrui,” Gu Nanyan said, her brow furrowed. Her fair, delicate face was marked with clear distress, and her starry eyes were filled with obvious turmoil.
Shen Boyan didn’t immediately respond.
He pressed his lips together, his dark, cold eyes flicking over to the photos on the desk.
“If… I accidentally kill him, can you protect me?” Before Shen Boyan could speak, Gu Nanyan’s soft voice rang out again. “I don’t want to end up in jail, but I feel… he won’t make it through tonight.”
Her soft, innocent tone sounded harmless, yet the weight of her words left Shen Boyan stunned for a moment.
“Where is he?”
The coldness in his eyes dissipated slightly. His voice, though still deep, no longer carried the previous intensity.
“At… an abandoned dump on the outskirts of the city,” Gu Nanyan replied, her brows knitted tightly. “He insisted on bothering me, even stalking me. I was afraid you might misunderstand, so I wanted to teach him a harsh lesson so he wouldn’t dare harass me again.”
She glanced out the window. “I didn’t expect it to rain so heavily tonight.”
As the rain poured outside, Shen Boyan glanced out, suddenly realizing something.
He picked up the phone and dialed Ling Hanzhi.
Ling Hanzhi received the call and drove out in the dead of night, heading to the nearest abandoned dump on the outskirts of the city.
“What kind of karma is this? Coming to this place at night…” Ling Hanzhi muttered to himself.
The dump had been abandoned for some time, but nearby residents still brought their trash there. Piles of garbage had not been cleaned up, and countless flies and maggots had taken over.
With the rain pouring down, the entire area reeked of decay.
Ling Hanzhi, dressed in a black suit and holding an umbrella, covered his mouth and nose with one hand, nearly gagging.
The two bodyguards he brought with him were also holding their breath, their faces flushed red.
“What are you waiting for? Hurry up and find him… yue…”
As he spoke, Ling Hanzhi nearly gagged again due to the overwhelming stench.
The two bodyguards, finally able to breathe after holding their breaths for so long, turned their heads away to vomit.
They stumbled, searching the area while gagging, until they finally found He Yunrui in a disgusting pit of garbage.
His hands and feet were tied, his mouth stuffed with a filthy cloth, and he lay face down in the trash pit.
The heavy rain had already flooded the pit, submerging most of his body in the foul-smelling water. Luckily, his head was propped up by a large garbage bag, or else he would have been completely submerged.
When the bodyguards found him, he was barely conscious, his eyes glazed over.
As they removed the cloth from his mouth, he mumbled repeatedly, “Gu Nanyan is a devil… she’s a devil…”
When Ling Hanzhi called Shen Boyan back, his hands were still trembling.
He had followed Shen Boyan for many years and had seen his fair share of bloody scenes, but this was the first time he encountered such a revolting situation.
Shen Boyan, however, remained calm and collected.
After hanging up, he spoke softly to Gu Nanyan, “He’s still breathing. I had someone send him to a remote location. You won’t see him in Rong City again.”
“Okay, thank you…” Gu Nanyan seemed to finally breathe a sigh of relief, her crystal-clear eyes filled with gratitude as she looked at Shen Boyan.
Shen Boyan casually picked up a document from the desk and covered the photos with it, pretending to flip through the papers. “Is there anything else?”
“No… I’ll go back to sleep now.” Gu Nanyan glanced at the documents on his desk, hesitated for a moment, and then added, “You shouldn’t stay up too late. Get some rest.”
“Mm.”
Shen Boyan picked up a pen and signed the papers, his movements swift and deliberate.
Gu Nanyan turned to leave.
After she closed the door, Shen Boyan removed the document from the photos.
Once again, he stared at the photos, his expression frighteningly calm.
In the depths of his eyes, a faint cold glint flashed.
The rain continued to pour.
In the manor’s lotus pond, the water was almost overflowing.
Meanwhile, in the villa.
Qin Yuwei couldn’t sleep. She put on a coat and went to the balcony to watch the rain.
She had been waiting for the news that Gu Nanyan had been driven out of the Shen family.
But she waited all night and heard nothing.
The next morning.
Qin Yuwei arrived at the dining hall, only to be stopped by butler Lin.
“Butler Lin, what do you mean by this?” Qin Yuwei, dressed in a white dress, had barely gotten any sleep the night before and had to use a lot of concealer to hide her dark circles. She asked with a smile as she was stopped.
Was Gu Nanyan finally kicked out of the Shen family? Wasn’t Little Mumu supposed to be having breakfast with Young Master Shen today?
But none of her sources had confirmed the news of Gu Nanyan being expelled.
“Teacher Qin, from now on, the young master will have our young mistress accompany him for meals. You no longer need to do so. If you want to stay in the Shen family, just do your job well and don’t overstep.” Butler Lin said, his tone indifferent as he raised his chin.
Qin Yuwei’s smile instantly froze.
What?
She wasn’t allowed to have breakfast with Little Mumu anymore?
Does that mean she could no longer have breakfast with Shen Boyan?
That was her only privilege in the Shen family—how could they take it away?
“Butler Lin, is this the young mistress’s decision, or Young Master Shen’s?” Qin Yuwei pressed.
It must have been Gu Nanyan’s doing!
There was no way Shen Boyan would change his mind like this.
After all the effort she had put in to take care of Little Mumu over the past four years, Shen Boyan had always noticed.
Why was Gu Nanyan still in the Shen family?
What was going on? Those photos had clearly reached Shen Boyan’s hands. Why hadn’t he kicked her out?
