Rebirth in the ’70s: A Farming Side Story – Chapter 13

Chapter 13

The big family worked themselves to the bone, while the third family, relying on the big family, lived comfortably. What kind of situation was this?

Facing her uncle and aunt, Liu Yu was different from the original owner of her body. She had no blood relation to Liu Laosan (Third Uncle) and couldn’t stand Liu Jianmin’s lazy, parasitic behavior.

Last time, when Liu Li didn’t manage to grab any food during dinner, she became furious: “You little brat, what are you saying? How dare you speak like that! They are your uncle and aunt; do you have any respect for your elders?”

Liu Yu snorted: “Well, you should at least act like an elder! Aunt, I’m talking nonsense? Then tell me, you two are always off sightseeing, and no one even sees you at the production team!”

Liu Laosan and his wife were well-known idlers in the village. Everyone knew this! Liu Li couldn’t refute, her face turning white with anger: “You little brat, shut your mouth! Say another word and see what happens!”

Liu Yu wasn’t afraid of her threatening to hit her. If they fought, Liu Li wouldn’t stand a chance. Liu Yu continued, “If it weren’t for my dad looking out for you two, you wouldn’t even get three work points! You’d still have to attend meetings every month to be criticized as lazybones!”

Liu Li was furious. Since marrying Liu Laosan and giving birth to two sons, her position in the family had become as solid as iron. Even the most powerful mother-in-law, Mrs. Chen, had never scolded her.

She never expected that today, this most annoying chubby daughter from the big family would dare to criticize her face-to-face!

Liu Li was so enraged that she wanted to tear Liu Yu’s mouth apart.

Liu Yu, being chubby, had quite a bit of strength. When she saw Liu Li rushing at her, she pushed with both hands, making Liu Li, with her slim waist and balanced figure, take a step back.

Liu Li lost her balance and fell right into the ditch Liu Yu had dug!

Liu Li scrambled up, covered in dirt and dust. Realizing she couldn’t defeat Liu Yu, she started crying and called out to her husband for help: “Jianmin, are you just going to watch your wife get beaten? This is outrageous! Your niece is beating your wife!”

Liu Ye, hearing this, didn’t stay silent: “Hey, Aunt, I saw it. You’re the one who hit my sister first! And now you’ve fallen into the pit and blame others!”

Liu Yu cast an appreciative glance at her brother: “Kids don’t lie. Aunt, you keep saying I’m bullying you. Well, let’s go to the production team and report it!”

Liu Li was speechless with the two siblings teaming up against her. Would they really go to the production team? If news about the third family not participating in collective labor came out, they would lose everything!

Liu Jianmin jumped into the pit and quickly helped his wife out. He realized the situation now—it’s easier to deal with the King of Hell than with the little ghosts. His eldest brother was easy to talk to, but Liu Yu was not someone to mess with!

So, Liu Jianmin turned his face toward his eldest brother: “Big Brother, we’re real brothers, raised by the same mother! Will you agree to raise our work points or not?”

Liu Jianjia was too much of a good person to say “no.” Even though he knew his younger brother’s request was unreasonable, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

Fortunately, Liu Yu spoke up for him: “No! Uncle and Aunt, if you want higher work points, you can do as others do—go work in the fields and participate in collective labor! Otherwise, you won’t even keep those three work points!”

Liu Yu sneered, and this time, it was for real—she was tough!

Liu Jianmin helped his dirt-covered wife, spitting angrily: “Alright, you’re tough now, huh? Big Brother, you don’t even care about your own brother! You call yourself a big brother, but who acts like this? Pah!”
