Lingquan Space: Fortunate Wife of a Farmer’s Family Chapter 165

Chapter 165: Like Real Mother and Daughter

Hong Shi, looking at Wang Jinhe’s angry eyes, felt an overwhelming regret. She initially thought that abandoning the child back then would ensure her demise, and the child wouldn’t become a problem. Little did she expect that not only did the child survive, but she also became so formidable, even gaining the Emperor’s favor.

After receiving news from the capital, they thought it was just a shared name. Who could have anticipated that it was the child they abandoned years ago?

“We are your parents,” Hong Shi said, looking at Wang Jinhe as she reached out to grab her, attempting to take her away. As for Su Yu on the side, Hong Shipaid no attention to her.

Su Yu raised her hand to ward off Hong Shi’s hand reaching for Wang Jinhe and stood in front of her. “You claim to be Jinhe’s parents. Well, tell me, what distinct features does she have? Let me hear your explanation.”

Distinct features?

Hong Shi thought carefully and, seeing a mole on Wang Jinhe’s earlobe, joyfully exclaimed, “She has a mole on her earlobe.”

Su Yu lowered her head to examine Wang Jinhe’s ear, indeed finding a black mole on her earlobe.

“Now, is it proven?” Hong Shi said, looking smugly at Su Yu.

“As long as people’s eyes aren’t blind, they can see the mole on Jinhe’s ear,” Su Yu replied. It was such a glaring mole that anyone with functioning eyes could see it.

“You…” Hong Shi was rendered speechless by Su Yu’s retort. “I am her mother, and I am taking her away now.”

Knowing she couldn’t argue with Su Yu, Hong Shi decided not to continue the discussion. She reached out to grab Wang Jinhe, attempting to take her away.

Su Yu squinted, preparing to take action, when Wang Dagui and Gu Shi returned from outside. “Who are you people? What do you want with my daughter and son-in-law?”

Hearing Wang Dagui’s reprimanding tone, Hong Shi quickly turned around. When she saw the approaching couple, she lunged at them, aiming to scratch Gu Shi’s face. If she succeeded, Gu Shi would be disfigured.

“Mother,” Wang Jinhe’s heart tightened. She was about to run over when she saw Wang Dagui had already pulled Gu Shi into his arms to protect her, leaving Hong Shi grasping at thin air.

“Who are these people, Jinhe?” Wang Dagui frowned and asked Wang Jinhe.

Wang Dagui was puzzled about how his daughter and son-in-law managed to provoke such people while at home.

Wang Jinhe shook her head innocently, “I don’t know either. This person came in claiming to be my mother and wanted to take me away.”

Gu Shi, with a hint of panic in her eyes, quickly regained composure, “You say you’re Jinhe’s parents. Let me ask you, what is Jinhe’s surname? When is her birthday? How old was she when she was abandoned, and what was she wearing?”

Gu Shi bombarded Hong Shi with questions one after another, leaving Hong Shi unable to cope, and her eyes revealed a sense of guilt.

Observing Hong Shi’s guilty look, Gu Shi instantly understood. This person didn’t know anything.

“Well… it’s been a long time, and we…” Hong Shi stammered, unable to provide any clear answers.

“When is the child’s birthday?” Gu Shi wasn’t buying their excuses.

Even if they couldn’t remember the clothes from a long time ago, they should at least recall the child’s birthday, right?

Gu Shi went inside for a moment and returned with a piece of paper, on which several big characters were written. She handed the paper to Hong Shi, saying, “Read these characters to me. What do they mean?”

Hong Shi and the man beside her looked at the characters on the paper, and cold sweat dripped down their foreheads. They had no idea what the characters meant, and they didn’t even know the child’s birthday.

“You know nothing and still dare to claim you’re my daughter’s parents? Get out! If anyone dares to cause trouble at my house again, I’ll report you to the officials and have you thrown into prison. My daughter and son-in-law have good relationships with the county magistrate and the Governor. If I want to catch you, it’ll be a piece of cake.” Gu Shi threatened sternly.

Hong Shi and the people with her suddenly felt scared. They had already inquired before coming; Wang Jinhe had caught the Emperor’s attention, and there was an imperial edict with numerous rewards.

They didn’t dare to confront Wang Jinhe directly and had to leave first to figure out their next steps. Moreover, they needed to quickly inform the capital about Wang Jinhe, the child from back then, and find a solution.

After the two left, Gu Shi, who had been protecting her “chick” just moments ago, suddenly looked like a frost-bitten eggplant, completely devoid of any spirit.

“Let’s talk inside,” Wang DaGui said, seeing that everyone was silent, and the atmosphere was becoming awkward.

Wang Jinhe nodded lightly and followed them inside.

After entering, Gu Shi still didn’t speak. It took a while before she bitterly said, “Xiao He, you… indeed, are not the child of my husband and me. We found you on the roadside during an outing. We waited there for quite a while, but no one came looking for you. So, we had no choice but to bring you home.”

Over a decade had passed since that day. The baby who had cried in the cradle had now grown into a graceful young lady, with her own husband and family.

Time really flies.

Wang Jinhe subconsciously pinched her fingers. Seeing her like this, Gu Shi comforted her, saying, “Although I don’t know who your biological parents are, I can be sure that they are not your real parents.”

Gu Shi was very confident about this.

Wang Jinhe paused, looking at Gu Shi in astonishment. “Mother, why would you say that?”

“You have a crescent-shaped mark on your shoulder. If they were your parents, they couldn’t possibly not know about it. Moreover, the simplest thing is that they can’t even clearly state your birthday. That’s a clear sign that they are not your real parents,” Gu Shi said, looking at Wang Jinhe with a complicated expression.

She originally thought this matter wouldn’t be disclosed to the public, but unexpectedly, such a twist occurred, revealing the truth about the child’s identity.

After hearing Gu Shi’s words, Wang Jinhe suddenly felt relieved.

“It doesn’t matter. You are my parents, my family,” Wang Jinhe said earnestly, looking at Gu Shi and Wang Da Gui.

Even though she wasn’t their biological child, they had done everything in their power to take care of her and raise her. Blood ties were not as important as the bond they shared. She had no interest in finding her biological parents. Even though Su Yu might easily locate them, she hadn’t considered this matter.

Gu Shi looked at Wang Jinhe in surprise, “Jinhe, are you really not planning to find your biological parents?”

Wang Jinhe shook her head, “No, I’m fine now, right? Do you not want me anymore?”

“How could we not want you?” After raising her for over a decade, how could they not want her?

“Then that’s settled. I only recognize you as my parents, and others have no relation to me,” Wang Jinhe said sincerely.

Wang Da Gui frowned and said, “They didn’t come to find her for more than ten years, and now they suddenly appear. It doesn’t seem like they have good intentions, and their demeanor doesn’t suggest they genuinely want to find Jinhe.”
