Military Marriage of the Eight-Five Era: Taking My Sassy Mom to Conquer the Capital Chapter 11

Chapter 11: New Home, New Atmosphere

“Three thousand yuan, it can’t be any lower,” the elderly man said while looking at the mother and daughter.

“We’ve seen the yard, but we also need to check what’s inside,” Yu Meijuan spoke the thoughts of both.

Upon hearing her words, the old man felt a surge of joy; it seemed this woman intended to buy.

He then called into the house, “Dear, someone wants to buy our house. Please take them to have a look.”

“You can follow me,” said a gentle elderly lady as she came out from the house, her voice warm as she spoke to Yu Meijuan and her daughter.

They first entered the living room, which was furnished with a complete set of rosewood sofas. Yu Zihan’s eyes began to sparkle; could it be that the 3,000 yuan included these pieces of furniture? If so, they would indeed be making a great profit.

Her secretly excited expression went unnoticed by anyone.

After touring the living room, they explored two bedrooms, which surprisingly contained antique wooden beds. The decor in the other two rooms was quite ordinary. After visiting the five main rooms, the elderly lady glanced at the composed mother and daughter.

The old couple thought to themselves that they had misjudged; given their attire, how could they possibly recognize the value of their furniture? The couple easily dismissed the calm demeanor of the mother and daughter as ignorance.

“Now that you’ve seen the house, are you satisfied?” the old man asked Yu Meijuan.

Yu Meijuan remained silent, planning to follow her daughter’s lead in all matters; she just needed to provide support.

“I wonder if the furniture is included?” Yu Zihan asked, suppressing her excitement.

The elderly couple looked reluctantly at the furniture, which had accompanied them for many years. During those tumultuous times, they had gone to great lengths to preserve it, but now they were about to embark on a long journey and had to say goodbye.

In their hearts, this furniture was like family, and now they were thinking of finding someone who would cherish and care for it. However, looking at the mother and daughter before them, they felt a bit uneasy.

Yu Zihan read the meaning in the old man’s eyes; she could no longer play the role of a naive person. So she said, “Grandpa and Grandma, don’t worry, my mom and I will cherish them just like you did.”

Her words were sincere, and the implied meaning made the elderly couple instantly understand; despite their age, they could still be somewhat shortsighted.

“That’s good, that’s good. Three thousand yuan, everything here, except for our personal clothing and such, we can’t take with us. You can handle it as you see fit,” the elderly couple immediately brightened up.

They then went to the neighborhood committee, where Aunt Li issued a certificate, and afterward, they completed the house transfer procedures. During this time, Aunt Wang stayed with them.

Once their paperwork was finished, they arrived at the yard that now belonged to the mother and daughter.

“We can only leave tomorrow; can we stay here one more night?” the elderly lady asked Yu Zihan. Since the girl had been in charge of everything from buying the house to handling various transfer procedures, the elderly couple knew that this young girl was the real head of the family.

“That’s no problem. Not just one night; even ten nights would be fine! My mom and I will go buy some bedding and such shortly. Tonight, we’ll stay in the guest room,” Yu Zihan’s words reassured the elderly couple, as the procedures were already completed, and the house no longer belonged to them.

The elderly couple went back to pack their things, while Yu Zihan looked at Aunt Wang, who seemed reluctant to leave. She thought to herself that this was definitely a loyal person.

She turned to Aunt Wang and said, “Today’s matters were all thanks to you, Aunt Wang. Once we move in and get settled, we’ll definitely invite you over for a meal. We still need to go buy some daily necessities today, so I can’t chat with you right now.”

“You both go ahead and be busy; there’s no need to treat me to a meal. Don’t stand on ceremony. My home is the first house at the end of the alley, so if you need anything, just come find me,” Aunt Wang said with a grin as she left.

The mother and daughter arrived at the guest room in their home. Yu Meijuan, looking worried, said, “Zihan, we’ve already spent 3,000 yuan on buying the house. We should probably be short on cash now, right? How about we just make do and not buy anything new? We can wait until I figure out how to earn some money.”

To reassure Yu Meijuan, Yu Zihan took out the remaining money from her space.

Seeing a pile of scattered bills, Yu Meijuan was confused. “Where did this money come from?”

“Hehe, I scraped this together from the Shen family. You don’t even know how bad they are! They made us do all the work while they sat back and enjoyed themselves. Each household has so much extra cash; it’s clear how much they’ve taken from you.”

Thinking about it made Yu Zihan clench her teeth in anger. Remembering that night of catching the couple in the act, she used her skills to make that family sleep like dead pigs and then began a thorough search. She understood that her mother only cared about those two boxes, and she had no intention of reclaiming anything else.

However, Yu Zihan was not that magnanimous. It wasn’t enough for her to just let them take advantage of her; she wasn’t going to allow her own wealth to be enjoyed by others without a fight. So, no one in the Shen family escaped from Yu Zihan’s grasp.

To be fair, she actually managed to scrimp together quite a bit of money—roughly estimated to be around one thousand yuan.

Yu Meijuan quickly counted the cash and exclaimed that there were actually one thousand one hundred thirty-two yuan.

“Hmph, those bloodsuckers! And now they’re left with nothing. Not only that, but in a few days, they’ll also face jail time. Thinking about it makes me feel quite comfortable inside.”

Yu Zihan took out some bread and milk from her space, along with some ham sausage, and the two of them managed to have a meal.

Afterward, they headed to the East City market to buy some essential daily supplies. Most importantly, Yu Zihan bought suitable clothes for herself and her mother, mainly outerwear, underwear, and thermal wear, all of which she had in her space.

As for the bedding and other supplies, Yu Zihan smuggled those out from her space. In this life, she didn’t want to suffer alongside her mother. Since she had good things, why should she endure hardship? She vowed that, within her means, she would ensure that she and her mother had the best food, clothing, and living conditions.

With their arms full of bags, they returned home. Since their house was at the very end of the alley, all the neighborhood aunties knew about the mother and daughter purchasing the largest courtyard in the alley.

People stood at their front doors, eager to see what kind of new neighbors had moved in.
